- The Ixtapa beach resort is a master-planned, oceanfront paradise, designed to protect the natural beauty of the environment while exposing guests to its splendor on their romantic Mexico vacation. Nearby to Capella Ixtapa is the Mexican town of Zihuatanejo. Unlike so much of Latin America, Zihuatanejo retains much of the culture of Mexico, as well as the practices and traditions dating back to the Aztec age. While Capella Ixtapa is easily reached via international airport travel, and features high-speed, state-of-the-art connections to the information society, when guests come here, we encourage them to leave it all behind, and soak in the wonder of Ixtapa.

Capella Ixtapa Resort
This was our second visit to the hotel. We were there in November with 2 other couples. The food is excellent at the resort and the rooms are amazing. The hotel is posted on the site as adults-only, but there were families with children at the hotel for this visit. We thought we were paying for adults-only and were disappointed. Prices in Mexico are at an all time high. Over $150 for two to dine.

Fabulous resort in every area!!
My husband and I stayed at Capella Ixtapa from Dec. 26th, 2010 through Jan. 2nd, 2011. We travel frequently and are very blessed to afford a high level of luxury. This resort truly deserves its 5-star rating in every way. It was our favorite trip so far, which is saying a lot. The room was fabulous, the service was impeccable, and there was no request the staff would not attempt to accommodate. We are already talking about when we can go again!

Shopping tip:
Short drive from hotel
I highly recommend taking a taxi into downtown Zihuatanejo to shop and eat. We did this a couple nights and felt very safe. The market area is fun with several good, casual restaurants. There are also several very nice restaurants all over the city.

Capella was perfect for our Honeymoon
Awesome experience. Great service and made the trip a very memorable experience. Travel quite a bit, and was very pleasantly surprised by the level of service and the quality of the room (plunge pool option was great). Only minor complaint, was that [...] or Capella should make clearer when purchasing that there is a service charge (10%?) to be added to the hotel bill upon checking in. I would say that the service and hotel were worth it, but it did come as a surprise and there's really no option at that point. But was nice to not have to constantly tip as this charge is then already included. They really do try and help in all ways. 4pm Tequila time, 5pm free chips&salsa and beer to your room, free minibar drinks (no nickel and diming was a nice change), great recommendations, etc.

Great Experience
Prices actually charged vs menu (in room service) were higher (on top of service charge, etc). They surprised me with the cost of transportation back to the airport and the intention to add a sevice charge of 10% to the room charge. Other than this very good overall experince.
