Luxury hotel, Best Beach club, Just steps away from town!

Would recommend Wed, Sep 21, 2011
Facilities are as pictured. Upgraded from standard to premium room for $30 a night. Jacuzzi on balcony well worth it. Wide array of amenities- ipod dock alarm clock, in room safe, inscense and bath salts, umbrella, plenty of bottled water. Excellent breakfast buffet (good cappucino bar- extra charge but well worth it if you are a coffee snob). Beach is most private on North beach, roped off with padded beach chairs and beds. Restaurants are all good, but you would miss out on a lot of great restaurants in town if you go all-inclusive. Off season rates unbeleiveable, Happy Tours 2 people whale shark tour with free golf cart $180.

57th Anniversary trip

Would recommend Tue, Sep 13, 2011
We really enjoyed staying at Privilege Aluxes in Isla Mujeres, Mexico last week. All of the staff were very helpful, and helped make our stay memorable. The food was excellent!! Hats off to the Managers and the Chefs. They were wonderful. Having a Jacuzzi on the balcony was wonderful and relaxing! The free Internet being available 24/7 was great. I as able to keep in touch with family daily. It made me feel right at home. I would tell anyone how wonderful our stay was. We really hated to leave. Renting the golf cart to travel all over the island was very enjoyable and fun. We did a lot of shopping for gifts to bring home. We had been to Cancun before and visited the museums, all the historical site, so just relaxing and enjoying good food, drink and comfortable room was just what we were looking for. This trip was as good as any we have had. I would rate it very highly. We have traveled many places internationally, and this one is tops! The only thing that could have made it better would be if the ferry ride to Cancun was available earlier in the am....We had an early flight home (only one that was available) which caused us to leave on last ferry to Cancun at 11:30 pm...for a 7:45 am flight home. Therefore, we had to leave night before our departure.

Dining

All the food was excellent at all three restaurants. The one we had at the Asian Restaurant on our Anniversary was very special....treated royally and the food was the best! The Manager there was very gracious to us. A night we shall never forget, to be sure. Thank you!

Nice Hotel Subpar Food

Would not recommend Thu, Sep 8, 2011
We stayed and made arrangements for our family and friends to join us for our wedding on the island. All of our rooms were nice, however the beds were hard, the cleaning people didn't do a great job and the food was terrible. The first night we got there we ate at Satay...we sat for 20 minutes before anyone asked if we needed drinks and then another 20 minutes for someone to come back and take our orders and an HOUR to get our food! The hotel staff could also use some help. There were 3 or 4 people we felt were fantastic, but overall most of the staff was rude. We checked out another hotel while we were there, the Avalaon. We are so staying therenext time. The staff and food there was fantastic!

Best hotel to relax and pamper

Would recommend Tue, Aug 16, 2011
I stayed at Privileges for 5 nights this August -- it was absolutely wonderful! The hotel is very new, so everything is in great condition. I had a room overlooking the cemetery (not as awful was it sounds -- you can see the sea and both the sunrise and sunset) with the outdoor jacuzzi. Every day, the room was perfectly cleaned -- I even had my flower replaced when it died! The beach is not huge, but it's still pretty nice and Playa Norte is just a few minutes' walk. Lots of delicious food nearby (so I don't recommend the all-inclusive) and cab rides are really cheap. The staff was friendly -- not always super helpful when I had questions, but also not intrusive or pushy. I would absolutely stay again!

Great couples getaway

Would recommend Sun, Aug 14, 2011
This place was excellent. Great location, just steps from the beach and minutes from many local shops and restaurants. Very close to the ferry also. The staff on site were great and very accommodating. We received a complimentary bottle of water each day and had turn down service daily if requested. Having a good air conditioner was a huge plus as the heat was intense during this time of year. We had the breakfast buffet each morning with a wide variety of different items to choose from. Overall the hotel was very clean and felt very safe as well.

Dining

If you did not participate in the all inclusive option I would recommend eating at the restaurants on the beach front. They are close and have excellent authentic Mexican food. (if that's what your looking for)

Good to relax, not to party

Would recommend Wed, Aug 10, 2011
The hotel was very nice, small and intimate. The staff was really nice too. [...] was our usual server, so nice! We went with another couple, and we are ages between 23-25. We upgraded to the superior deluxe, while they had the normal deluxe. Both were huge! (regular rooms were tiny, so if you can, upgrade! The rooms were very affordable!) we went with the all inclusive package, which was worth it with the drinks alone. The food was pretty good as well. If you are looking to party this place is definitely not for you. At times, we would've wished the nightlife was like the normal big all inclusive resorts. The island is very safe, so you can go out to the bars at night. We rented a golf cart the one day and drove around the whole island. Do it! You will see some pretty amazing sights! Theres actually an above ground cemetery behind the hotel. It's really cool looking and very colorful. Another day we took the ferry over to cancun and went to tulum and xel-ha. I highly recommend doing that as well! It will take up an entire day though, which was okay with us! I would stay here again In a few years from now when I don't mind there not really being any nightlife.

Nightlife hint

None on the hotel property, but down the street.

Disaster

Would not recommend Tue, Aug 9, 2011
Our reservation was from Aug 2 to Aug 7. We leave the hotel on Aug 3 and changes to another one because the all inclusive service was a disaster. At lunch time the restaurant doesn't has the food that we want to eat (from the menu). On the pool bar only beers was available and the daiquiris (Frapes) doesnt have it. At beach bar nothing to food was available. During the day I went to the restaurant to reserve a space for the dinner and they tell me that no space was available. Later my husband went to the restaurant (without me)and for my surprise an space was available for dinner. THE ALL INCLUSIVE SERVICE AT THIS HOTEL DOESN'T FUNCTION.

Beautiful pool area and very clean.

Would recommend Fri, Aug 5, 2011
The hotel was very pretty and we got a free upgrade to a suite upon arrival since they were out of standard rooms. Our suite was huge! The cleanliness is a plus and the breakfast buffet is delicious. It was more touristy and Cancun-like than what I'd hoped. We did not do the all-inclusive package, but we still got served the undrinkable all-inclusive-like cocktails. All in all, great for sleeping there and lounging in the pool/beach areas, but if you like the secluded, small resort feel, then think of another location.

Money saver

Around the big hotels are lots and lots of small restaurants that are more reasonably priced and are run by locals. Think fresh fish caught that morning, etc...

We were in paradise!!

Would recommend Mon, Aug 1, 2011
Service was wonderful. Everyone was friendly, courteous and willing to serve. We did the AI package. If you drink, it's definitely worth it. Food was great. We didn't visit the Satay restaurant for we would either eat at Sabor or go out in town for dinner. We didn't like the dinner menu at Cafe del Mar but we did eat there for lunch. And the pool bar would also hold lunch right next to the pool. Room was wonderful. Had the deluxe ocean view suite. Room was always cleaned and straighten up very well. All of our requests were made, even when we needed an umbrella on the one day it rained. I was really sad when it was time to leave. If you're looking for someplace to relax, eat and drink well, this is the place.

Money saver

When you arrive to Isla Mujeres, you're less than a five minute walk from hotel so you do not need to take a taxi. Also, rent a golf cart and tour the island. We rented one from 9-5 but didn't realize it until later that for another $10 we could've rented the cart for 24 hrs.
