Secluded island paradise with beachfront location on Isla Mujeres
The Ixchel Beach Resort is near Costa Occidental de Isla Mujeres National Park on the island of Isla Mujeres. The relaxing respite has an outdoor pool, complimentary wireless Internet access, a concierge desk and wedding services as well as tour and ticket assistance on site. The guest rooms feature televisions, in-room safes and bathrooms with showers. Penthouse suites have a rooftop Jacuzzi with panoramic views of Playa Norte and the turquoise-hued sea channel. An on-site gym, lounge and laundry facility are on hand as is a lounge and restaurant.

- The hotel is located Located just 50 minutes north of Cancun Airport, 20 minutes by ferry from Puerto Juarez, or 30 minutes by ferry from Cancun hotel zone. Exit Cancun International Airport and take Luis Donaldo Colosio Blvd. towards city of Cancun. Turn right onto Jose Lopez Portillo Blvd. towards Puerto Juarez and Punta Sam. Once you are at Puerto Juarez you can take an express boat. They leave from Puerto Juarez every 30 minutes and take 25 minutes. 5:00 am to 12:30 am. Approximate driving time to Puerto Juarez (Passenger Ferry) is 30 minutes and distance is 25.5 Km (15.85 miles).

Great location
The hotel fit our needs perfectly. The room included a fridge, microwave, and gallon of purified water, cable tv and the shower was great and so were the towels. Maid service was fantastic. The location was right on an awesome beach that had lounges, umbrellas, and food and drink service. Two very clean pools with lounge chairs in the water. Loved that we were able to walk everywhere.

The dining near the boat ferry had the best prices. Loved the grilled fish and shrimp civeiche at Minninos. Ginny and Alexandras Locheria near market good breakfast cheap.

Isla Mujeres
The hotel is lovely, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The beach starts just beyond the hotel, and it is GORGEOUS. My only real complain (and we've stayed at this hotel twice now) is that the beds are kind of hard, although my husband doesn't agree. The hotel is within walking distance from more restaurants than I can count, and it's less than a mile away from the ferry piers.

I don't think this is really a vacation spot for young children. We have a 5 year old and a 9 year old, and they would've been totally bored. There's not much to do on the island, which is GREAT for adults but not for restless, non-beach bum kids.

Excellent
Just go to Isla Mujeres, This is a paradise, and you would not regret it. No matter what you do or where you stay here on this island you ought to have the best most relaxing time EVER! We absolutely enjoyed the laid back, peaceful and gorgeous environment of the island and the hotel. it meant all of our requirements/desires/needs...it was the best for the money and just wish I was there, back on the beach. :))

Fantastic family vacation for the price
our stay at hotel ixchel was very nice. The rooms were great with everything we needed. The staff was very friendly and attentive to the needs of their guests. All in all a great time.

Very nice property and great location.
We booked a penthouse suite and upon check-in were told that they overbooked and we would not get one until the last half of our stay. The oceanfront suite they put us in that night was a bare room on the second floor with an obstructed view. The next morning the manager was able to upgrade us to a beautiful higher floor oceanfront suite and was willing to work with us to make our stay enjoyable until we moved to our penthouse suite. The employees are very friendly and helpful. The hotel location is fantastic for local activity as it's on the North Beach and a block from the end of the street containing the restaurants so you can get around without a golf cart for most meals and beach time.

Try eating at restaurants off the main street (Hilgado) as they are cheaper and the food is fantastic. We also recommend Sunset Grill, just west of the hotel on the beach. We had breakfast, dinner and would use their lounge chairs with food and beer delivered for reasonable prices on several afternoons.

Our "ocean view" was from the side and very little, and NO balcony. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. The beach is great!

We didn't want to come home.....
We found what we were looking for! A wonderful beach vacation with nothing to worry about aside from choosing where we'd eat our next meal. The beach was beautiful...a little windy at times but beautiful never the less. Walk out one door and you were on the beach, walk out the other and you were within walking distance of numerous restaurants and shops.

Great Hotel!

Ixchel phase 1
Friendly staff. Inexpensive meals for breakfast and lunch at pool-side bar "Como-No" $7-11 US per person. Wide range of restaurants within 2-5 blocks. Golf cart rental 45-55 USD per day adequate to explore all the island. The ability to rent a one bedroom suite(living room, kitchenette and bedroom} rather than just a room made the trip more enjoyable

Great staff and location!
The front desk staff was so helpful and spoke excellent English. Our room was just okay. It wasn't quite clean enough when we got there, the A/C was not as adjustable as it appeared (it could only be off or on), there was only one small waste basket, and only one mirror. But the purified water jug, fridge, and microwave were nice bonuses. The shared door between us and the next door room was right next to their TV and phone, so that was loud at times. Still, I never felt truly comfortable in the room. It felt cold and hard to me. Despite my complaints, I'd recommend it. The location and staff more than make up for any sour bits.
