Hotel Rocamar - Adults Oriented

Roca Mar best value on the island. clean ,ocean front, excellent service, convenient walk entire north end.

I've literally been staying at Roca Mar for 20 years and this was probably the last time I'll stay there. Since they've upgraded, they seem more interested in making money than keeping up the hotel. Our toilet broke while we were there and while they did offer to call a plumber, they didn't know when someone would be able to get out. So, it was either stay in a room with a broken toilet or move to a dingy basement room with a working toilet. We moved. Our second room was so dreary; we felt like we were just stuffed away and forgotten about. The sink drain cover couldn't stay on otherwise the sink wouldn't drain, so we were left with a gaping hole and had to hope that we didn't accidentally drop anything. I miss the old Roca Mar with slats for windows. I think it's time for me to find a new hotel on Isla Mujeres.

We were here for 2 days and I honestly wish we had spent our whole vacation here. The rooms were modern, with A/C (not necessary in December) and rain shower head that had great pressure and hot water for days. The ocean is literally 20 feet from your hammock-equipped balcony and the sunrises over the ocean were gorgeous! The beds were nice, the rooms are almost all white and spotless and they give you an in-room safe for your belongings. The pool was also clean, cool and right on the ocean. Overall this place rocked! The A/C was noisy and the wind does whip through the room so you might want earplugs. This hotel is on the quiet side of the island but just a short walk from the Playa Norte where everyone gathers for sunsets over the Caribbean and Cancun. Highly recommended.

For us the hotel was in a perfect location. Walking distance to the ferry, beach, and tourist alley for dining and such. Because it is situated high above the east coast of the island we had a perfect and uninterrupted view of the Caribbean. The balcony wall is completely glass and opens 3/4 of the way. Because of the minimalist layout of the room it makes for efficient housekeeping which was never lacking. Small but clean pool with view of the ocean. Nice shaded lounge area. Excellent wifi in the tv area. Friendly and responsive staff. We did not see any other hotel on the island that we thought would have been better for our overall needs and budget. Only criticism (common to any hotel anywhere) is that they may not be cleaning their air conditioner filters frequently enough. During the night I experienced frequent congestion which may or may not have been related to the a/c filter.

We have stayed at other places in Isla Mujeres and liked Rocamar the best. The location was superb for my boyfriend and I during our final days in the Yucatan. The hotel is located just a minutes from the ferry to Cancun, near many great restaurants, and the views from the rooms are spectacular. Each room has a wall that is a sliding glass door, three panes that slide to one, allowing a full view of the sea. The staff are very friendly and willing to help out with any inquiries. Our bed was very comfortable and the room was swept fresh and clean - no funny smells or surprises. The entire hotel was quiet, neighbors were respectful, and the bars were far enough away so there was no street noise at night. If you are in the mode for a simple (no frills), easy, comfortable stay with breathtaking views in a great location, Rocamar may be just the place for you.

GREAT location. As close to the water as you could ever get - you can smell, see, and hear the water...it is amazing! Not fancy, but a great experience

We were driving in from Belize. We had a rent a car. When we got into Cancun we could not find the Isla Murgeres. When we asked someone said we could only get there by ferry. When we found the ferry it had left and would not be back by 8 pm. We had a 1pm flight back to philadelphia and was affraid we might miss the ferry in the morning. We tried to call the hotel but could not get through.
