"The good, the bad, and the really ugly"
The Good: Hotel location is Excellent, service is good, rooms are clean and neat. The Bad: if there's an event going on let's said outside in the Palapa they close the service to everyone and you have to go inside for service. The Really ugly: where can I start with this one, food prices too high (for the price of 2 you can dine out at Chili's or Applebee's and will be for 4), you can't bring in coolers or drinks just a small water, they don't allowed outside food.

I think its "Las Palmas" or "La Palapa" next to an OXXO by the Marina. Also a great place to go is "Panchito's Villa". Both real good and cheap.

I did not travel with a child, but I have 7 children and 9 grand-children and they would have LOVED this place. There were many families and the kids were very happy. This hotel is lovely, the staff are well spoken in English, and the rooms are clean. Many clients have obviously put wet swimsuits and towels on top of all of the furniture and over the wood slatted closet doors. Paint is beginning to peel and surfaces of the wood furniture are beginning to bubble and some have popped. They need to channel some of their income into maintenance or it will slowly lose its luster. The beds are the hardest I have EVER had. For me, this was good due to a bad back but might be a problem for others. The interior court with indoor rock waterfalls, etc. is wonderful. Copper chargers for your plates in the restaurant. They began with a lot of $. I was there for only one night on business so never saw the pool or jacuzzi, BUT it is one of the few hotels that I have seen in Mexico with tubs in all of the rooms and I LOVED my bath. The blackout curtains were the best I have ever seen. I needed them the following morning due to the late night band keeping me up, lol. It was a Sat. night.

A local steak house called the Bronco was delightful. I have lived in Mexico for 5 years and this is the closest I have had to a good American Rib Eye. When you are coming into San Carlos, it is on the right BEFORE the Banamex bank. Dinner with a drink cost me under $15.00.

Please dont get fooled, I thought
Please dont get fooled, I thought that this will be a nice hotel since the pictures online seem like a very nice hotel, but it is just the lobby that is nice. The rooms are old fashioned, the blankets and comforters are from the 80´s and have a horrible stench. My experience of staying at this hotel was awful, from the beginning, we had to wait 2 hrs. to check in because our room wasn´t ready. We heard a lot of compleints from alot of other guests.

Sligthly less than perfect
Due to the Season (March 14, 2010) the Spa was closed. The Gym is out of date and equipment is rusty. The Jacuzzi doesn't work and was used by kiddies as a kiddie pool. Our door wouldn't lock, but when discovered (by someone walking into our room by accident) the staff immediately fixed it. The beds were hard as planks of plywood. All Rooms are spacious and within a few hundred feet of the beach. multiple restaurants on site. Helpful staff. Given everything, the price of the room was amazing.

Not a 5 stars hotel
I stayed on January 26 to 29 january, 2010. I was on bussines trip and since I know the beach is nice, I prefered to chose this one. But I had bad experience:1) my room, due the season, there was no air conditioned. For me, it was hot.2) When they did my bed, the sheet was loose, it was not a box sheet, just flat and did not fit it. Old bed cloths, and not "white" towels that we expect on a 5 star hotel.3) they did not provide with a new shampoo everyday. 4) there is no iron and table to ironing. I had to asked for one. Which was very dirty.(surface)5) they brought me expired catsup with my sandwich (it said 06/07 ) and I report it and next day again the same. Hopefully I did not get sick6) there is no clock in the room7) as the weather outside is cool now, I did not had opportuinity to go to the beach or pool, but nobody was there either.8) the check out was a mass.. they did not have all the information available and I could not get an invoce for my report expenses. The only good thing was the shuttle from hermosillo airport to the hotel, and the driver guy [...].This is like a 3.3 maybe 4 stars according to the categories in Mexico.. no more.. a nice hotel, is not only a building. [...] in reality, this hotel does not value more than what I pay for it. 62 usd per day. The current rates I saw directly with the hotel were over 170 usd.

fantastic family getaway!
This was an overall great hotel! The rooms were clean! You would have to let the water run about five minutes before you get hot water to take a shower. Everyroom has an ocean view! Great atmosphere inside the hotel. I would say it has the nicest beach in all of San carlos. The staff was friendly and they all spoke English. I ate at the resturaunt one night, the food was ok... The pool is beautiful but not heated. For the price it was great! I would definitely go back! Also in san carlos most everyone speaks English there.

Good food, hard beds!
The hotel is too far from the restaurantes area and the town, you have to pay taxi everytime you want to go to another beach or dancing or a restaurante. The beds are so hard, Two double beds too small. The filtered water facucent in the bathroom din not work. The jacuzzy did not work, and they did not seem to mind. The food and drinks are great and their prices excelent considering.

The Palapa Bar at the hotel has great food and drinks and great prices, at the Kiosko try the Tortilla soup, and the Club Sandwich.San Carlos have the best restaurantes all kinds, but beware of the check, ask prices no matter if you think you look cheap, the charge me 8 dollars for a chardonay and the Filet Mignon was 13 at Broncos, so, not very nice. Go to Bananas, nice drinks 20 pesos beer and great food, and live music for good taste people. La Conquista is a very nice restaurante, Haute Cuisine, very expensive but you can get the same dishes in the states no big deal.Embarcadero Restaurante at la Marina has great breakfast and the view of the boats of course is so worth it.
