Location, location
The travel website unhelpfully informed us this was 0.1km from downtown. In reality it's 20 minutes drive away on the side of a motorway. This pretty much ruined it for us. Otherwise, the hotel seems nice enough, save that our rooms were on the side of a main corridor which had heavy foot traffic and noise all night.

Hotel & Spa Quinta Las ALondras
Very nice, clean, friendly staff. Nice restuarant but noone seemed to eat there. Usually I was alone if eating there, even in the morning. No receipt upon departure was a negative, as I have to turn in receipts.

Excellent and beautiful place to stay at. Beautiful view of the city on 3rd and 4th levels. Cons - not close to city downtown but you can easily get there via cab, charge is about 40 pesos (roughly 4 dollars).

good but very far from town
Guanajuato is a gorgeous town and full of life with students. Great food, amazing architecture. The hotel is nice enough. It is a roadside hotel very far from the center of town. You will have to take a taxi wherever you go. Taxis are cheap but if you go to town twice a day it will add up to 20$. More importantly you cannot just walk outside the hotel and take in a beautiful crisp night in town. Rooms are large and nice enough with typical mexican decor. But there was no hot water for 3 days in my room. This is completely unacceptable to me at this price range. I would not stay here again.

Best kept secret of Guanajuato
I went to Guanajuato to study Spanish. The hotel is on the outskirts of town, but that isn't a factor. Buses leave across the street and go straight to the center of town for onle 5 pesos. Central de autobuses, the interstate bus terminal is only a two minute walk away. These buses go anywhere in Mexico including the leather capital of Mexico, León, which is only 45 minutes away. The hotel rooms are very nice, food is good, facilities are great, staff is friendly and very helpful. The only thing missing is more guests. Not many guests there at all. It is hard to imagine why this hotel isn't sold out.

For breakfast try the chilaquiles verdes con huevos... Delicious. For dinner try The restaurant on the corner of Jardin de la unión across the street from Teatro Juarez. They have great salads and wonderful enchiladas suizas.

Lovely full service hotel
Hotel & Spa Quinta Las Alondras is a beautiful hotel. Starting with check-in the reception is more than efficient and you immediately feel that they want to please you. The rooms are very large and well appointed. The restaurant was good. Didn't try the spa but will on my return. Would definitely recommend this hotel for business travlers, family's and weekend retreats.

Bicentenario Trip
The hotel is beautiful, the staff is very friendly and helpful and food at the main restaurant is delicious. The hotel is not in dowtown but it's only 5 minutes driving. A taxi from the hotel to dowtown cost you no more than $4usd.

Sightseeing tip:
Short drive from hotel
You must take the Bicentenario's Tour at downtown or also available at the Hotel. It take you to different museums, churchs from the independence time and the most important, the guide tells you all about the Independence, its heroes, etc. You must go to El Callejon del Beso at night and kiss your couple on the third stair, otherwise you will have 7 years of bad luck (that's what the leyend said).

Great Hotel at a Great Price
A little far from "Centro", but a quick $45 peso cab ride and we were there. The advantage was lot's of peace and quiet at the hotel. We did a one day trip to San Miguel de Allende, and the road there was a block away from the hotel. Friendly staff, very clean and an excellent free breakfast, including a buffet on Sunday that's way above average.

Nice but out of the way
A gorgeous hotel, with wonderful rooms that's very close to the bus station, but relatively far from central Guanajuato. You'll have to take a taxi to get into town -- there's no way to walk it. The taxi is cheap, but it's inconvenient to go back-and-forth, and if you like to step out your hotel and be in the thick of things, then this isn't the place for you. If you want a lovely hotel that's a bit out of the way, then this is your place.
