Nice for the stay

I stayed one night at Portonovo only. The best of the hotel is the location. It is in downtown Guadalajara. The hotel amenities are simple, but comfortable. The breakfast was very good--above average. The staff was attentive and cordial. It seems that the hotel was more targeted for people coming to the city for work or business than tourists. However, I think the place is worth for the price and location.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

If you want to go to Guadalajara airport and don't pay for a cab, just walk to Aranzazu Hotel that is located in a few blocks from Portonovo. There is a shuttle every two hours. The cost was only 80 Mexican pesos. Around 6.5 dollars.

Great little hotel for an even better price

Portono Plaza exceeded my expectations. It realy was a gem in a the outer sides of the historic center. Dont let the outside fool you its nice inside. And the staff was increadible. They let me check in a few hours early and were very informative of the city. If you and/or friends are travelling on a tight budget I totally recomend this place. The rooms are clean and modern. A few cons that didn't bother me at all but could bother others were: no elevator, but you do get assistance with your luggage. Beds were covered by two sheets no blsnkets, but the rooms are warm and you can leave the air conditioner off/low. The beds are a little on the firmer side so I you like super soft cushiony beds this may not suit you. Personally firmer beds are better for my back jeje

Not the best, not the worst...

My wife and I stayed at the Potrtonovo for a three night stop in February 2012. I've travelled all over the world with my job and my wife is Mexican just to give some perspective....Afew few things that bothered us...We rented a car and they do have parking at the hotel but the underground parking area can get cramped and is a tight squeeze when full which it was most times. The rooms are very modern with nice bathrooms, T.V. beds and temp controls. Ask for an extra blanket, the beds are prepared with only a sheet which can be uncomfortable as the room is stuffy without air conditionning; We left a "Do Not Disturb sign on the door a few times when we went out briefly. This did not stop staff from coming in and cleaing our rooms. There are no safes or fridges in the rooms or any kind of services apart from internet. No room service and limited areas around the hotel to eat. We asked for a roll of toilet paper and waited a n ice age to get it. It's a decent place, clean and modern. If you don't need the extras, like food it's really not that bad. I'd look around before booking here again.
