Location Great, but thats it.

My husband and I chose Hotel Fenix due to the location which was great. The staff was not friendly and there is no room service. The room we were given was very hot and we asked them to check the ac but nothing was ever done. Our room didn't even come with a view which was described in the details of our room, our view was the back of another building. Housekeeping didnt clean our rooms untill the evening and we were there for 4 nights so every evening we would come back to someone in our room. One thing that was definitly not acceptable was that everyday someone would knock and walk right into our room to see if it was occupied??? Shouldn't front desk already know what rooms have guest in them? On top of that I had forgotten my earphones on the bed and within an hour of checking out I had called to claim them and front desk said they were never found. Housekeeping steals be careful.

This is a good downtown Hotel, the rooms are big and clean. Furniture needs and upgrade other than that the room was good and everything works. I had requested balcony with a view and I was only able to get one after the manager came out to talk to us.

Nice place, great location

The hotel is located 2 blocks away from the cathedral, in a very safe area, it can be kind of noisy because it's on a busy street. The staff was very helpfull and friendly, the only thing i didnt like is that there wasn't a blowdrier in the bathrroom and the water wasn't very hot.

nice location but, needs better employees

bad experience. first day I got there they were giving me a room with two beds and my reservation was a king size bed. eventhough I had the copy of the reservation the front desk was telling me that it didn't say anything on her system. so, she made me wait until 3:00 pm. I came back at 3 and they gave me a room with the king size bed but I couldn't see anything from the room. I could only see the next building wall and my reservation was a king size bed with a city view. so, that was a bad experience at the hotel but, nice esperience in guadalajara beautiful city.

We had problems with the parking

We had problems with the parking facility which is not on site. We were directed to a car park with very sketchy directions. After parking the car we asked atreception if we were in the right car park and this was confirmed. We'd paid 80 pesos for this 'free' service. 20 hours later we went to collect our car to be told that we owed 219 pesos as they did not have a parking arrangement with the Fenix! We had no choice but to pay it and then went to the hotel for recompense. At 2.50pm we were told that the manager was at lunch until 4pm and couldn't be disturbed and the receptionist didn't have the authority to make any refund. Eventually they agreed to refund 80 pesos we had originally paid but they couldn't pay the full car parking fee as we had parked in the wrong car park. A relatively minor additional expense was incurred but it was the principal that annoyed us. Also there was no coffee maker or hair dryer in the room which I would have expected in a 4* hotel.
