Beach diving and leafy green grounds on Cozumel
The small (50 rooms and suites), family-owned Villablanca Garden Beach hotel is a bright colonial gem surrounded by lush jungle. Guests tread pathways lined with tall leafy green plants to get to the swimming pool, tennis courts or beach, at which excellent beachfront snorkeling is enjoyed immediately. There are three dive shops on site that provide more intricate and day-or-week long excursions underwater.
Highlights
  • Across the street from Villablanca Reef and Wall for immediate snorkeling
  • Three dive shops on site
  • Tennis and swimming pool
  • Two restaurants on site
  • Wi-Fi throughout
Rooms
Curved molding carves arches into the rooms, separating a seating area from the bedroom. Spicy orange-chili hues pop on the bedspreads and pillows. Cool terra cotta tile floors echo the bright, brick-colored tile roof. There are 50 rooms at the Villablanca Garden Beach hotel. Villas come in one, two or three bedrooms and “superior” rooms span 650 square feet; these upgrades from standard guest rooms also have a private terrace or balcony. The penthouse has a 270 degree view of the Caribbean. All guest rooms have sunken tubs in marble bathrooms, climate control and ceiling fan, satellite TV and Wi-Fi.
Dining
The gourmet restaurant Nemo offers fresh regional cuisine ranging from seafood to barbecued beef tips each night during dinner. For casual poolside meals, Las Adas serves breakfast, lunch and a variety of cocktails and drinks. Room service also is available for more private dining options and there are restaurants within walking distance of the Villablanca Garden Beach hotel if one wants to eat out.
Recreation
The Villablanca Garden Beach hotel boasts three well-regarded Cozumel dive shops on site: Dive Paradise, Papa Hogs and Scuba Mau.

The hotel also partners with lso Eco Divers, Deep Blue, Tortuga Tours, Equalizers, Blue Angel and most other Cozumel dive shops, providing excellent excursions to the Villablanca Wall and Reef and all over the shoreline of the island.

Nothing special, kinda Quirky

Get the superior room! We upgraded to superior which was supposed to have a ocean view - Right is you look to the dies! Also we got the continental Breakfast - right - toast, coffee and juice. Never used it! Pros: Price CONS: 1. Poor lighting, if you want to read in your room. As all the lights are on the walls. 2. Employees let their friends and family use the facility (read pool) so it's extra noisy on those days. 3. Literature says free WIFI in room - NOT 4. Needs work (read refurbishing) 5. No comfortable chairs to sit on, also no desk. 6. TV is 13" cannot be seen from bed. 7. Free parking - for about 3 cars Take what you want from this review, but the beds were good, it was quiet at night and we ended up getting this room for about $20/night even with the upgrade (in the package including air). And the staff are helpful though ineffective.

Great Divers Hotel

2nd stay at Villablanca, auto upgrade to suite on 2nd stay. Great location, close to town but not that close car is advised. Good little bar run by Arturo with a barbacue every Sunday night. Nice pool with hot tub. Dive pier across the street. We like the villa and enjoy Cozumel, a fun town with lots of resturants to choose from away from town center. eat where the locals dine enjoy!

Friendly and laid back

Staff was very accomodating and friendly. Hotel is not crowded even when all the rooms are rented. We met a lot of fellow scuba divers. This is a great place to hang out with regular folks, not a snob in the bunch.

Loved the gardens and the "pet" iguannas. Staff was attentive and improvements were made in a timely manner. The free filtered water was an added bonus. Close enough to walk to beaches and grocery stores. I had a great time. Very relaxing.

Nice place for divers

Good place to stay for a dive trip. Location is nice, out of town but still close enough for an easy trip. Convenient pier for pickup, but on site dive shop charges $2 per day per person to use the pier.

Dining tip: In Hotel

Eat at the hotel restaurant. It was reasonable and good food. Food and Drink in town was much more expensive than the last time I stayed in Cozumel. As well, shop in town at the new big grocery store found everthing we needed there to bring back to the room...

Great Value!!!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at VillaBlanca. The room was clean and loved the things the maid service can do with ordinary towels(ie..swans, hearts)... We loved the place across the street La Papita (beer and sunset), and used papa hogs (great breakfast too) for scuba diving. It was very reasonable; we did scuba discovery and a one tank dive that was amazing to say the least. There is a convenient store just south (left) of the hotel too about half a block, right next to papa hogs, with bread and ham available to help keep costs down.. Also rent a scooter, by far best transportation, and go to the east side of the island.
