Private balconies for lazy ship-gazing in Cozumel
All of the 348 rooms at the Park Royal Cozumel, a landmark waterfront resort, have their own private balcony, many with excellent views of the clear Caribbean hosting incoming and outgoing cruise ships. The all-inclusive package gives guests all meals, including a la carte dinner and snacks and has no limit on beverages – guests choose from three restaurants and five bars. The Kid’s Club provides fun activities for little ones, and up to two kids may stay with their parents for free; ages seven to 12 pay an additional fee.
Highlights

  • Excellent view of cruise ships
  • Three restaurants and five bars on site
  • Three swimming pools and open-air theater

Rooms
Glossy marble floors, pale blonde wood furniture and a cloud-colored bed echo the tone set by the white sandy beach outside. All of the 348 rooms at the Park Royal Cozumel hotel have their own private balcony; an ocean view adds an aqua focal point to the room’s already beach-y interior. All rooms have a full bathroom with hair dryer and vanity mirror, a 27-inch flat-screen TV with cable, individual climate control and a telephone.
Dining
Meals are served a la carte in two restaurants, which serve Mexican or Italian food in their respective elegant settings (a dress code applies). More casual, buffet-style dining takes place on the veranda near the pool. Five bars are peppered around the Park Royal Cozumel hotel, providing poolside snacks and refreshments.
Recreation
Snorkeling and diving expeditions allows gorgeous exploration of the second-largest coral reef in the world. An underground walkway takes guests of the Park Royal Cozumel hotel safely across the street to the beachfront area. An open-air theater has nightly shows. Three swimming pools may be used for languid laps -- but one is designated for kids.

Simply perfect!

My son and I stay here for a week. We had stayed in Cancun several times and decided to try Cozumel. The staff was impeccable and made sure we had a good time. I would recommend doing all of the games and activities that they offer. It felt like a family reunion by the end of our trip. The nightly shows were always fun and entertaining. If you like to dive there is a great shop literally next door accessible from the beach. You can borrow their snorkeling gear for an hour a day or rent for $10/day. They have a private beach with a couple of pools and bars. The beach volleyball court is great with at least 2 pick-up games a day. The hotel is close to the downtown area. I walked there several times for exercise to burn off some of the deserts.

A palace in the middle of the ocean

It was too wonderful, too great to just put in a few words. The hotel is beautiful, very clean, the staff is very well trained, very polite and courteous. The food at the Veranda (buffet area) is outstanding..! I highly recommend this hotel. We were there from 12/14 - 12/19 and the hotel did not have that much entertainment. There is not much to do at night at San Miguel. Overall, a great experience and great memories. Thanks Park Royal Cozumel

Great but don't expect the internet to work

The staff at Park Royal is excellent. Every request was handled quickly and professionally. The food is better than I expected. They only have two wine selections (red or white) but I they were better than some house selections I've had. My only serious complaint was that the internet connection was horrible, constantly dropping.

Great weekend vacation, especially for the price

I was really not sure about Park Royal. The reviews were mixed and some of the things I read made me wish I would have booked somewhere else. This wasn't the case though when we arrived. Some things to know prior to going. When you arrive at the airport you pay about $10 a person to get to the hotel. The airport runs the taxi's. We saw people get dropperd off at some really bad hotels and this made me even more nervious. When we arrived at Park Royal, the front desk is under a huge outdoor roof and is beautiful, we were approached by a lady in a green shirt. Tell them you are not interested in tours and don't want a sales pitch and they will leave you alone. They still say hi and ask once in awhile but for the most part they then avoid you. This is fine to me since I care about the staff and not the time share people. Tip everyone, this is custom in Mexico. I know it says tips are included, but that is for average service. I can't tell you how many people didn't tip and they didn't get attention either. The bell man brought our bags up and we gave him a $20 for two rooms. Another tip is that you give the bartender $5 for your first round and a couple bucks every couple rounds. Also tip your waiters at dinner. They remember you and it makes the trip great. I am not sure why I would need to tell people to tip; just because the $4 was included for the day in tips it isn't enough for the staff to live on. Location was great. Not far from the cruise ship ports and shopping and close to town. The beach is great and the pools are nice. Could be warmer but hey it is December and we were swimming. Last of all the hot tubs are not hot. No heaters here people. That is my major complaint. Below is a summary of the good and the bad. This is a great place for a 5 day trip or long weekend. Especially when you look at the price. I think people want a diamond resort on a beer budget. Your not going to get that anymore in Mexico, it has improved over the years. The Good: -Staff was friendly. Got you anything you needed. -Drinks were not watered down. -Location is great. -Nice small beach area, great for kids. -Quiet. -Not a lot of tourist, seemed to be more locals from Mexico. -Clean!!!!!! Can't express that enough. The Bad: -Not the best food, but there is always something. -Double beds in every room and they are hard. -Pillows are like a rock. -Not much choice in Children's menu, need to add chicken fingers. -Italian place didn't allow kids. -No heaters in pool or hot tub.

Very good.

The music in the theatre is way TOO LOUD. The show should be from 8:00 - 9:00 p.m., not 9:00- 10:30 p.m. It was like they were on our balcony. We were told it would end at 10:00, but did not end until 10:30 pm. Forget trying to get to sleep a little early for the night. No Way. This really takes away from a very nice vacation there.
