Wonderful vacation spot

We loved the accommodations, the food was great, service wonderful and friendly, everything was maintained beautifully and very clean. Pools were very nice, loved the beach, lagoon and snorkeling. Beautiful grounds. Only trouble was that the sidewalks were uneven, beautiful, natural coral, but not smooth. Restaurants were terrific. We will definitely return to the Park Royal and recommend it to family and friends.

20 Yr Anniversary (HoneyMoon)

This was the 4th time we have stayed at Park Royal...the staff are always working hard to make your stay the best ever. They are always cleaning and you dont see any trash...This is a 1st class resort. The food was excellent. It was great to try different foods...etc. If you are wanting to take a mid day nap you might want to get a room that does not face the pool...the laughter and cheers of the other guests can be heard even on the 8th floor. If you wish to use the Wi Fi wireless it will cost you $15/ day...But since you are on vacation...Who needs it anyway. The island is VERY SAFE dispite what rumors you may hear ...as for the mainland...thats another story. On the island...they have their own military base along with several police officers present throughout the streets..I seen children playing in the center area of town square at 10pm. Dont make the mistake that MOST tourists make...Go visit the streets off of the main street...Here you will meet some great people and save lots of money on food and merchandise..If you visit during the last weekend of April and the first week of May..This is the time of the Festival of El Cedral.....It is a family event with lots of food..crafts..cultural dancing and bull fighting/horse racing etc...This is another place not visited by many tourists...and they are missing out on seeing the culture and closeness of the families of Cozumel..They welcome you with open arms...I could go on and on about how great our trip was...but you can only experience it by doing it...One other note...you have to go see the Christ statue in the Chakannab Marine Park...its an underwater statue that will bring you to tears and touch your heart..We met some great local people and made some lifelong friends....See you next year at El Cedral..

The Sunset Pirate Dinner Cruise....This is a must do when visiting Cozumel...The lobster and steak dinner were first class along with the entertainment. I would also recomment visiting Los Sera's...this is a local hang out for great tacos and pizza...13 pesos for tacos and 100 pesos for a hugh stacked pizza. The owners/operatos speak little english but they work with you and enjoy seeing tourist....Also visit Playa Bonita which is on the eastern side of the island...excellent food////view///etc Go see ROSY PECH at BlissdaySPA Incredible 4 hand Bliss Massage

Almost Perfection

Awesome resort; everything is close to perfect; except for the front desk staff (which gets a zero star from myself). I travel a great deal; and the staff at this resort definitely gets 5 stars from me. From the restaurants in the La Veranda to the Ala Carte Staff; all bartenders are great; and the grounds and pool keepers work incredibly hard to keep the entire place immaculate. Food is good in the buffet for breakfast; but dinner needs a lot of improvement. Dinners are excellent at both the Ala Carte restaurants. Did not eat lunch at the resort during my week stay. Housekeeping was a little late cleaning every day; especially when we were out of the room every day at 7am; and room not cleaned till 3pm; and one day they called and could not make it. Front desk staff is rude; un-cooperative and the most unfriendly staff I have ever seen at a resort. Too bad, as they left a very bad image of what had been an incredible vacation.

Good, not sure I will stay again.

Was good. Staff was mixed, some great some not so. Seemed some staff were incovenienced by having to deal with us, bit negative. Haggling was at its maximum, yet i know that's mexico in general. Work on the kids place play area, so closed. Work on the beach side jacuzzi so closed. Bummer. Kids under 12 not allowed in Italian restaurant so only 2 restuarants to each at plus fast food at bars. Liquor was good. Hamburgers were way good! Room was nice. The customer service and marketing staff were constantly trying to get us to do timeshare program... LAME. Good location not too far from city yet not in it! Will try another all inclusive next time we visit.

Decide what you want to do PRIOR. So many people haggle with you to get a deal on what you can do, it can becoming overwelming and in fact detrimental to your time and experience. Decide what you want to do, book it, pay for it and stick to the agenda before you show up!

Average Vacation

The resort was nice. We upgraded to an ocean front view, but we also had a view of the noisy street right below our room and the tops of other buildings, not to pleased. The beds in the room are very hard, and we had 2 double beds because they did not have any other king size beds, so we had to push the beds to together since we we wanted to sleep next to one another :( The resort was quiet not to much going on there. They did have shows in the evening in the atrium, one show we caught was really cool (it was the mayan dancers) , the other was ok. The beach is very small, if you want to be on the beach this is not the place for you :( Also, we flew into the cancun airport as it stated on the site that it was a 30 minute drive to the airport, not true, plan on spending at least 2 hours of travel time to get there. About an hour drive from the airport then......you have to take the ferry which is about another 45 minutes to an hour to the island which is not included when you book its $13.00 per person each way. Then you have to catch a taxi on the island to your resort, which is 7 dollars per trip not to happy. The food at the resort was decent. They had diff themes in the buffet each night, 1 night was Italian, 1 night Tex Mex, Another Night Chinese and so forth. The all inclusive was nice as you could eat or drink as needed. The liquor was the cheap liquor but it sufficed (plenty of tequila). The staff at the hotel in the restaurants, groundskeepers and bartenders worked very hard and were curteous. Also, the bathrooms are very small! They say Cozumel is the best place to snorkel but if you want night life and expansive beaches stay in Playa De Carmen or Cancun. Overall the resort was nice(AVG) but all the traveling time and extra expenses for the traveling that we did not budget for put a major damper on this vacation.:(

Always try to deal when you are in town dealing with the locals. You may get a really good deal on items. Much more expensive in the airport!! Also, to save on travel time fly into the cozumel airport. Will save you lots of time and money!

Beautiful Resort

We came here for five days for a girls getaway. Beautiful hotel, amazing view, very clean. Food was actually quite good. We had to eat in the main dining "buffet" hall because reservations at the speciality restaurants were hard to come by. The drinks were weak at times, but not too hard to ask for a double. :) The pools were wonderful, there was plenty of room for everyone. Could have probably done without the drunk spring break teenagers though. Now for the cons: People literally go out at 7am and throw their beach towels on the lounge chairs and then come back hours later. So, if you actually want a chair you have to get up early. Also, out by the beach area there was this god awful stench like sewer. And for the last worst con of all.. We left money and diamond earrings in our room and unfortunately they were stolen during our stay. Obviously, we cannot prove anything, but they were in the room and we were the only ones in the room, so you make the determination. Just a warning. We would still stay again, but use a safe next time.

Relaxing Vacation

This hotel was beautify landscaped and taken care of by the staff. The cleanliness of the facility was miraculous. Each room had a balcony overlooking the Caribbean sea. The views from our 8th floor room was great. One of the downsides to the room was that the pillows were rather large and uncomfortable to go along with the bed which was also uncomfortable. You only received two bottles of water per day in your room which we thought was a little ridiculous. The food was alright nothing great. If you wanted reservations at one of the sit down restaurants you need to line up by the restaurants at noon or you won't get a reservation. The swim up bars by the beach were great. I loved sitting at the bar stools overlooking the sea. It was beautiful and very well maintained. Overall I would stay at the Park Royal again.

Good value if you can catch a deal

We found a special for this hotel at the last minute and stayed there not knowing what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised. There is one main buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner but it is a great buffet. There is a different theme every night and there is plenty of food and variety of food so you can always find something you like. There is also a kids' buffet for dinner that helps with finicky eaters. The staff were courteous and always helpful. The entertainment crew was out daily with activities for kids and adults every hour so you can play volley ball or horse shoes or whatever if you feel like it or just sit on the beach or by the pool. The beach is small but decent. You can snorkel right at the beach and there are plenty of fish to see. There are three pools and a kids pool with slides in the kids club which my younger one loved. The location is right by the cruise terminals so you get a lot of traffic. You are far from town and other attractions so you need to either rent a jeep or take a cab to get anywhere. Ernesto's across the street is a lower priced jeep rental and you get an authentic island jeep experience there. Make a reservation if you want a jeep as Ernesto does quite the business. Avoid the time share presentations unless you want a hard sell guilt trip about how you are not providing your kids with enough unless you buy this time share. Just say no and make a game out of it, and after a few days, they leave you alone. All excursion desks at the hotel are time share desks in disguise so you are better off leaving the hotel to book your excursions. We went right to the ranch to book our horseback riding adventure and we got the discounted price that the hotel was going to give with a time share presentation attendance. If you book your excursions on line before getting to the island, you will be better off and get better prices. When you land at the airport, the only way to get to your hotel is by airport shuttle service that charges $10 per person - that's $40 for a family of 4 no matter the ages of the children. There is no cab service from the airport. You can take a taxi back to the airport for $14 from the hotel. Cabs are not allowed to pick up at the airport for some reason but are cheaper than the shuttle service. Take a cab back to the airport not the shuttle service.

If you have a spare half day, try the Mayan Steam Lodge which is close to the hotel. It is an authentic Mayan experience and it is like visiting the ruins and being allowed in to experience an ancient ceremony. Well worth the time!

Nice Get Away

This hotel is very nice for the money. Location is 25 minute walk to the center of town for shopping or a 7 minute taxi ride cost $7 one way. The food gets a little boring as any inclusive does after one week. There are different theme for dinner in the buffet each day of the week. Two speciality resturants require a reservation nightly, made between 12pm and 3pm daily. I could not believe how full the hotel was the week before Easter. It was very diffucult to get a pool or beach chair if you did not go out and place a towel on one before 7AM in the morining, that was crazy, but a neccesity daily!!! There were alot of familys as well as adults at the hotel. I will never travel to Mexico at that time again.A couple of things I did not like about the hotel:The hall and room floors have marble witch make for alot of noise! The bathroom area has the worst lighting I have ever seen over the wash sink area. All the outside walk way areas are uneven stone and would be difficult for someone with a walker. The pools, drinks and service are great. Beds are hard, bring your own pillow and ear plugs!

No free WIFI. Go south of the hotel past the first stop light to the tall red and white building on the left to get to an internet cafe. You can buy a card for $3 an hour. You do not have to use the hour all at one time. The minutes remain on the card and can be used another day.
