Occidental Grand Cozumel - All Inclusive

The hotel was clean, the service was friendly. The food was excellent. Much better than other all-inclusives I have visited!

Upon arrival at 330 PM, we did not actually get checked into our room until 2 1/2 hours later. Upon arrival to the room, our phone did not work for 2 days and we had a ladder and caved in ceiling in our shower that had yet to be prepared. The front desk, although friendly, was very slow. Many guests seem to have had problems. Also, the all-inclusive dining experience was very limited because 3 of the restaurants you had to make reservations several days in advance and they could only accomodate 4-5 couples/families at a time. The hotel was far from the beach, no beach front rooms. Also charged for telephone services and unable to use international phone cards on resort. TV channels were limited and only in spanish.

This was the second time we stayed at this resort, the first better than the second. For families, the value is good and the kids sem to enjoy it, we didn't have kids. Very little for adults to do. Our room required a/c replacement, after complaing everyday, we got it on the 4th, had we not we probably would have left. I don't think that we could have stood 11 days in Cozumel without a/c. The buffet was great. Limited choices of alcholic drinks, ran out of what we drink everyday. The rooms are comfortably furnished, and always clean. The house doctor was quick to come from town for a room visit. Seems there was a bad flu or something going around there and one of us couldn't leave the room for 3 days. Bellboys are few, had to carry our own luggage to the room, up 3 flights of stairs in the afternoon heat, and then at check out had to carry them back out. Love the iguanas that are all over.
