Perfect SCUBA family trip

This was our chance to take our kids (19 & 21) on their first ocean SCUBA diving trip... it was the perfect spot. Iberostar was perfectly located near the reef, the pool was great for relaxing between dives, food was great and always there when we needed it... and didn't. We loved the cabana layout of the resort, very relaxed and private. Beautiful vacation! I'd go back even without the diving... but the diving was AMAZING.

Cozumel Diving!

Very nice hotel, with the "cabana" style rooms. If you are traveling with others, be sure to get their room numbers because the hotel grounds are very lush with vegetation and you can get lost real easy. We like it because it is far south, closer to the reefs for diving. My only complaint is that the pool bar closes at about six p.m. But I guess that is to keep the pool area from getting to rowdy in the evening.

Fantastic getaway

Resort offered many extra ammentities that were great. You were able to make reservations for different onsite restaurants- all inclusive with resort(American, Mexican and Steak..... The steak restaurant was the best!) Tour operators offered many different types of excursions (snorkel, snorkel and jeep, jeep tour around Cozumel, etc). Also the resort had a mini bar in room that was all inclusive (soft drinks, water, and beer). Onsite excursions could have been better- very limited. Entertainment was OK, theater just burned down so entertainers were limited on space and activities. Housekeeping staff was excellent. Resort was right on the beach and the water was blue and calm. Their was a pier that you could snorkel from, their were lots of fish off the pier. When you book excursions through hotel tour operators, the excursions pick you up at the pier. Overall an excellent Resort. I would definitely recommend to family and friends.

Rent a jeep/moped/car during your stay if you are planning on going downtown or sightseeing. The taxis (onsite) for one way are very expensive.

We should have come here years ago

We have been diving in Cozumel since 1988 (23 years) and have stayed in almost every hotel South of San Miguel. This was our first time at Iberostar and it was the best place we ever stayed. This is the furthest south, just north of Palancar Reef so it is a very short boat ride to Palancar and close to Columbia and Punta Sur. The rooms were very nice, probably upgraded since Hurricane Wilma. They were made up while we were out diving every morning. Everything worked. Safes in the room. Lots of hot water and water pressure. Comfortable bed and lots of towels. The grounds were beautifully kept. Whenever you looked you could see someone cleaning the pool, picking up glasses, general cleaning or trimming the landscaping. The food was fantastic. Not only was there a great selection, the quality was excellent and the presentation was exquisite. The first couple of days, we were like a kid in a candy store, not knowing what to get so we tasted a little of everything. There were probably over 200 items at the buffet. By the 3rd day we figured out that some of the dishes were there everyday, with some variety, and there were special dishes everyday. There was great ice cream (with sauces, coconut and jimmies) and pastries for dessert every night. They never seemed to run out so the leftover desserts were available for lunch the following day. There was also ice cream at lunch everyday. For Breakfast there was always plenty of bacon and sausage and chocolate donuts...besides everything else. There are 2 specialty restaurants. They are both great. The rib eye steak I had at the steak restaurant was as good as I have ever had including the ones I grill at home. The other is the Mexican restaurant that also had great food and service. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We saw this as soon as we checked in with the receptionist, the waiters and bartenders and the entertainment staff who will join you for lunch or sit down with you while you are having a drink before dinner. The restaurant manager was usually there greeting the guests and telling us about that night's special dishes. It is an excellently managed hotel. The only thing we would have liked is a sandy swimming area. There is a sandy beach for the lounge chairs but it turns to ironshore at the water's edge. Entry to the water is generally done from the stairs off the dock and there is hard pan where you can stand. We would walk about 10 minutes north where there was a sandy swimming beach. The beaches can all change with the next storm. We have seen it happen in Cozumel before. Based on our experience here, we are looking forward to returning and going to other Iberostar properties in the future

Great for families

I took one 10 yr old neice and one 20 yr old neice. They both found plenty to keep themselves busy. There was a wonderful sense of community among the guests, and also with the staff. The only downside is the water on the beach is rocky, but then that's where the fish are when you snorkel. There was plenty of wildlife to watch too.

Iberostar Cozumel All Inclusive

Fantastic resort! Staff was extremely friendly and very accomodating. The rooms were small but very little time spent in the room. We always found great food at the buffet and ate at the Steakhouse twice. Both had great service. If you are travelling with kids the kids club is fantastic! Sandra has activities planned for the kids for the entire day. My daughter had a wonderful time. My only complaint is the mosquitos. We went to the shows each night and got quite a few bites but could have easily been fixed with bug spray. My family will definately return next year.
