"Good getaway with a side of bad luck"

Booked a ten day vaction May 20th to the 30th...Got to the hotel on a Saturday was very excited with our choice hotel was beautiful and all by itself and the landscaping was very beautiful and well kept and staff was helpful from the start did a upgrade totally worth the 30$ extra a night to get a bugelow right by the beach the yellow single floor ones. We could see the ocean right from our bed with the curtains open and also right over by the pool and a bar. Dont forget to use and reserve the free private hot tub at spa you get a half hour all to yourself but can book with your wife husband girlfriend boyfriend too, very romatic. Food was average of what you would expect from an all-inclusive. Staff was awesome there from early morning to the show at night...which is where we had our bad luck went to a boogie theme night the first nite was very funny and entertaining got us dancing but on Monday night they were doing a fire show and the roof caught fire and burned the building down which put a damper on the rest of the week first cause it was in the middle of the resort and the first three four days were terrible getting around because you had to bypass it by going all the way around basically to parking lot and the entertainment they tried to work with what they had but just wasnt the same and a couple nights they decicded to put a stage on the beach and hello lights and noise in our room, but like I said would of be nice without that than it would of been perfect. We booked some trips through the front travel service good prices same as you would find everywhere else we did the Mayan Aventure in playa del carmen and the XXplore we took the ferry which is very easy leaves every hour starting at like 5am to 10pm we stayed the night over there which I really recommend hotels are very good prices in town we payed like 80$ stayed at the Aventura Mexicana would go there again in a second. But overall the hotel was great except the fire. Don't forget to check out the town very safe and friendly.

WORST RESORT EVER

Worst experience ever. The food was pretty much inedible. Anyone who actually thinks what they served at this resort was anything more than absolutely disgusting must eat some pretty horrible quality food on a regular basis. Everything was old, fried, kept in oil (yes, actually served in a bowl of oil)or hard as a rock. There were times we were actually infuriated that they thought it was okay to serve the food they gave us. Birds were landing on the food in the buffet and the milk sat in the heat ALL DAY! And that doesn't even bother me as much as some of the meat they were serving- it's NOT any meat that would pass inspection in the US, thats for sure. The drinks sucked too- not what Im used to at a resort:( The service sucked if you were American. They don't care what you want or need. Period. A woman broke her toe while snorkeling and her husband came down to the "medical clinic" to get some tape for it and they wouldn't give him any. They said he would need to pay $60 for a medical visit and that the resort didn't have an emeergeny kit. Really?! Housekeeping did a mediocre job. We left them a $5 tip the first day and they didn't even fill the minibar. We had to call the front desk Tried to take catamaran lessons at the resort on saturday, which is included in the price. The guy wasn't in that day. How convenient. Don't waste your $$$!!!

Overall a very good trip! Great Location

Food and Entertainment was decent at best but overall the property is very nice! During our 7 night vacation, we were only guaranteed 2 dinner reservations at the resorts fine dining restaurant. I think during a 7 night stay, 4 reservations would have been more acceptable. This resort does have a beautiful pool with swim up bar. And the beach had plenty of beautiful palms trees, which other resorts nearby lacked. If you are a diver, this hotel is a must. The Dressel diving team does a wonderful job. Snorkeling was amazing as well. The resort offers free onsite snorkeling but i would also suggest doing a snorkeling excursion.

Great Resort

We had a great time at the Iberostar. The water is beautiful, the grounds are gorgeous and well kept. The staff is very helpful. The food was good. The only drawback is how rocky it is to walk into the water from your beach chair. Take water shoes or just go in off the pier. Saw all kinds of sea life , Barricuda, Starfish, Angel shark. Third time to Cozumel and this was our favorite!

Retrospective

Overall the experience was outstanding...very clean and the staff is terribly helpful.A couple of things to keep in mind...1. Rentals for a Jeep can be made at the hotel property...see helpful hints 2. You can only make one dinner reservation at the restaurants if staying 4 nights...2 reservations if staying 6 nights...wish we knew this ahead of time because you are "forced" to eat at the buffet otherwise, which isn't terribly tasty...3. Head out spear fishing with [...]..a fabulously exhilarating experience...then if luck is on your side go to Alberto's to have your fish cooked...and walk back to the resort...

Renting a Jeep and heading over to the east side of the island was an adventure! Definitely hit Playa Bonita and Coconuts...2 stops worth while for the breathtaking views, dirty laughs, and cold beers...

Nice.......but needs improvement

This was a family trip to introduce our daughter to beautiful Mexico, and the underwater world off the coast of Cozumel. It IS a beautiful island, however the Iberostar was a let down in food quality, variety, and sub-par alcohol. The "smurf" domes as someone accurately described the accommodations were clean but small.

Cozumel Diving!

Very nice hotel, with the "cabana" style rooms. If you are traveling with others, be sure to get their room numbers because the hotel grounds are very lush with vegetation and you can get lost real easy. We like it because it is far south, closer to the reefs for diving. My only complaint is that the pool bar closes at about six p.m. But I guess that is to keep the pool area from getting to rowdy in the evening.

excellent family get away

location, staff, pool, dive shop, diving, food all excellent. great staff and they work very hard to make it a fun vacation. rooms are fairly basic. nothing fancy but clean. grounds are fun with wild life. tons of activities available. participation is encouraged by staff. my daughter, 8, had a great time with kids club and the other kids.
