Cozumel’s largest swimming pool and private pier at luxurious resort
The heart of the colorful all-inclusive Hotel Cozumel and Resort is the swimming pool, which is the largest in Cozumel. However, the private pier from which guests dive right into the ocean is a highlight, too. All diving needs and wants are fully met on site via a PADI full-service center, Dive Paradise, which has been operating in Cozumel continuously since 1984. Families dive together or kids can hang back at the hotel's designated program.

Highlights
  • Dive Paradise includes a private pier and full-service PADI center
  • Largest swimming pool in Cozumel
  • Three on-site restaurants and lounge
  • Kid's program with supervised activities

Rooms
The 181 rooms in this coral-covered seaside majesty were remodeled in 2009; 10 of which are fully accessible. Accessible bathrooms feature a wheel-in shower with an adjustable orthopedic bench, shower, toilet security bars and accessible washbasin. The Hotel Cozumel and Resort also is equipped with ramps. Suites host up to four guests and have marble finished bathrooms with bathtubs, a dining area and a fully-equipped kitchen. Garden or pool view rooms boast private balconies.

Dining
The only guidelines for meals at the Hotel Cozumel and Resort are that guests wear shoes and dry clothes. Los Girasoles has an airy open seating area facing the ocean. Los Pericos Grill is poolside, serving snacks and beverages between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Recreation
Divers visiting the hotel may use the on-site rinse tanks, hangers for draining diving gear, fresh water showers and the 150 lockers to keep all diving gear safe. The large swimming pool is used by the ChanKaanab underwater park's Dolphinarium as a hurricane shelter for its dolphins during tropical hurricane season.

Good value for Divers Looking to Dive

I booked the all inclusive 7 day 5 morning 4 afternoon dive deal. the food was better than i expected. but was bland and nothing to write home about. the room was clean the and ac worked well. the staff was nice and i slept well on the firm mattress, but i sleep on a firm at home so i was used to the hard mattress. over all not bad for my first stay only wish the hotel was closer to town. next stay ill try casa mexicano.

Great Value

The hotel staff were very friendly. The food was great. we did not go for the all-inclusive but ended up eating there most of the time and the rates were very competitive with other restaurants. This is primarily a site for divers so if you want a large beach you are better off going to the hotels near the south of the island. This one is downtown but within easy walking distance of the ferry pier (to Playa del Carmen) and to the shops targetted for cruise passengers. We had great time.

You can use several ATMs located within a large grocery store called Chedraui to get local currency. you can also buy groceries in the store using dollars and get the max exchange rate in return.

First stay at Cozumel

The hotel was so clean and neat, and the food was fabulous! The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and were so very friendly and courteous. This is our first stay....with many more to come. Loved the beach, loved the pool, loved it all! With the all inclusive plan, you have the best of the best!

Hotel Cozumel & Resort

Just returned from our 7th stay at this hotel. The staff is always friendly and courteous. The buffet meals are similar to other buffet restaurants in Mexico. The food is plentiful, but early breakfast eaters will be greeted by barely warm pans of food. Breakfast starts at 6:30 am. We were always on the first dive boat off the dock so we didn't have time to diddle around. They were always accommodating to our early arrival at breakfast. If you spend over $100 a person more for All Inclusive I might consider other options for meals. There are a lot of wonderful inexpensive restaurants within walking distance. Get away from the main plaza a little and you will find them. Safety while walking the island has never been a concern for us. Tourism is their main economy, they can't afford bad publicity. No, we are not super athletes. We are simply average people in our 50's. Don't like to walk? Cab ride is $5 more or less to almost anywhere. Just ask the price before getting in while you have room to haggle. Yes, cab fare is negotiable within reason. Don't like the price, hail another cab. Also, be aware of the exchange rate. Cab drivers and bar tenders will offer price at 10 pesos or $1, while actual rate may be 12+ to 1. Sometimes using Peso's can be the better value. For Pesos you must go to a national bank, an exchange office, or your hotel. Exchange rates are posted. Stores must return change in the same currency used to make a purchase. If drinking is your gig, then by all means pay the AI fee and belly up to the bar. Don't worry, they will keep the drinks flowing as long as you remember to be respectful of staff and other patrons. No one likes an obnoxious drunk no matter where you live. Yes, you know who I'm talking about.

Great Place

Overall a great place with great large pool area with tunnel to the beach area so you don't have to cross the roads. The food was good but all buffet style and really didn't change much day to day (which gets a little old after staying for 10 days). The rooms were very clean and in good overall shape. If you are looking for a five-star hotel, this is NOT it, but if you are looking for a budget friendly alternative this is the place to be! Beware too that if you book ground transport from the airport to the hotel through this website, they supposedly do not charge you the right amount, so you are forced to pay more to the transport agency at the airport in order to get anywhere!

Diving Convenience

My husband and I spent 6 nights at Hotel Cozumel last month for a diving vacation. We enjoy this hotel and have stayed here for years, as it is close to the Caleta where we meet our dive boat, is an easy walk to town for dinner, and has a nice pool. What we don't like is the loud, off-key DJ on both Thursday and Friday nights. He yells on the PA, tries to sing along, and generally is obnoxious. It makes a lousy end to an otherwise terrific stay. No way to get away from it if your balcony opens up to the pool-side.
