Cozumel's largest swimming pool and private pier at luxurious resort
The heart of the colorful Hotel Cozumel and Resort is the swimming pool, which is the largest in Cozumel. However, the private pier from which guests dive right into the ocean is a highlight, too. All diving needs and wants are fully met on site via a PADI full-service center, Dive Paradise, which has been operating in Cozumel continuously since 1984. Families dive together or kids can hang back at the hotel's designated program.
Highlights
  • Dive Paradise includes a private pier and full-service PADI center
  • Largest swimming pool in Cozumel
  • Three on-site restaurants and lounge
  • Kid's program with supervised activities

Rooms
The 181 rooms in this coral-covered seaside majesty were remodeled in 2009; 10 of which are fully accessible. Accessible bathrooms feature a wheel-in shower with an adjustable orthopedic bench, shower, toilet security bars and accessible washbasin. The Hotel Cozumel and Resort also is equipped with ramps. Suites host up to four guests and have marble finished bathrooms with bathtubs, a dining area and a fully-equipped kitchen. Garden or pool view rooms boast private balconies.

Dining
The only guidelines for meals at the Hotel Cozumel and Resort are that guests wear shoes and dry clothes. Los Girasoles has an airy open seating area facing the ocean. Los Pericos Grill is poolside, serving snacks and beverages between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Recreation
Divers visiting the hotel may use the on-site rinse tanks, hangers for draining diving gear, fresh water showers and the 150 lockers to keep all diving gear safe. The large swimming pool is used by the ChanKaanab underwater park's Dolphinarium as a hurricane shelter for its dolphins during tropical hurricane season.

Great hotel!

We had a family vacation at Hotel Cozumel and Resort over the New Year. We had the best time. Staff was so friendly and helpful, rooms clean, service good. Breakfast was excellent and location just perfect. Pool area was big, water clean and beach was perfect with swimming and snorkeling right off the pier. Will return! Thank you so much! And for divers..it is a paradise!

Hotel Cozumel 12/25/09

Decent location...easy access to the ocean. Friendly staff ....food was very good and always available. The room was just ok at best. Not enough lights, cramped and the dressers were awful. The safe in room was with a key, and much too small for a laptop. Shower was fine, and the room was cleaned well. Enough staff that were helpful for directions and tour info. Not so great an area to snorkel, however, in the all inclusive we were given equipment that we used elsewhere...(we liked Chankanab National Park....good facilities and lockers and good snorkeling for $16 per person was not commercial). We stayed at the Coral Princess last year and overall liked the set-up better, but it was not the bargain of the Hotel Cozumel (not inclusive).

Very pleasant stay!

Comfortable rooms. Beautiful pool and easy access to the ocean. Not pretentious, wonderful variety of guests. Grounds were very pretty and well kept. Good breakfast buffet, lunch buffet at the beach restaurant was usually very good also. Dinner buffet (no menu available) was disappointing. Town is a moderate walk but easy taxi ride. On-site diving facility (Dive Paradise) was very convenient and provided excellent service (we used the fast boats).

Nondiving Vacation

For divers, this is an excellent location and setup. Prices are reasonable, whether inclusive or ala carte. Due to the tropical climate, clothing does not dry completely, and our room often smelled musty. Although many aspects of the hotel have been upgraded, the in-room safes appear to be original and less-than-desired. Hotel staff always pleasant and helpful. For the most part, the buffets were mediocre; the selections included both local and "U.S." standard fare, although the food okay (less than we had been led to expect). Overall, a good experience.

Great dive vacation!

Booked for a dive vacation. Bar staff brought me a drink as I was checking in at desk! Staff was excellent. They seemed happy to serve & went out of their way to do so. Rooms were clean & comfortable. Had the all inclusive option. Always some type of made to order station or carving station at each meal along with the regular buffet items. Dive lockers by pier free of charge along with rinse stations. Places to hang items to dry on balconies. Great pool. Location is excellent also. Dive op on site or have your dive op pick you up at their pier.

Friendly service in convenient location

Located within 6-8 blocks of town shopping & restaurant district. Good facility for families or singles. Staff attention excellent! Only disappointment was newly built bar/grill on beach which blocked view of actual beach. On-site activities for all ages. Dive shop excellent with on-site storage for gear. Plenty of beach seating & easy access into water. Island has some new activities since last visit in 2007. Took ATV jungle tour which was super fun!

Don't miss the Bananas Flambe at Pepe's Restaurant about 7 blocks away across street from water. Enjoy the great mariachi band & the best dessert on the island!

Nice hotel for Divers

The hotel has an outstanding pool and the snack bar staff is outstanding. They have a tunnel to the dive shop and beach. I thought the beds myself were very comfortably, but my husband said they were too hard. 2 lights in our room never worked, only one had a burnt out light bulb. Glazing on the tub was peeling off and door jams unfinished with resident spiders. Lock on door very difficult to lock because if it being corroded. Overall cute hotel, but not quite the quaint feeling one would expect for old Mexico. The desk never had money to exchange even though they advertised it. I would stay here again if all I was going to do is dive. Walk to town is pretty easy. Very peaceful during our stay, most guests were 35-80 years old.

Hotel Cozumel

Overall, service, facilities, were excellent. Only complaints, is dinner was below average, the hot tub wasn't very hot, coffee wasn't very good. Breakfast was excellent, as was lunch. Don't try to take an afternoon nap, or go to bed early.. (Pool activities Public Address, noisy..)
