Beachfront elegance, close to downtown San Miguel
The all-inclusive El Cozumeleno Beach Front Resort offers excellent snorkeling, fine dining and an elegant location: across the street from Cozumel Country Club and its award-winning PGA-approved golf course. Families play together on the mini-golf course or in the kid's activity center and separate pool. There may not be a reason to leave the property, but if one chooses, downtown San Miguel is just a short taxi ride away.
Highlights
  • Three pools, waterfalls and a beachfront with excellent snorkeling
  • Kid?s activity center and mini-golf course allows families to play together
  • Fine dining and all-day room service available
  • Donatello's Disco & Karaoke bar for adult-only late-night fun
  • Across the street from Cozumel Country Club
Rooms
Each of the El Cozumeleno Beach Front Resort’s 252 sun-drenched rooms comes with views of the ocean or a patio at the garden level.  The adults-only deluxe rooms have an extra-large wraparound balcony and come furnished with a loveseat, wing chair and two-chair dining set, all of which allow for cozy in-room entertaining.
Dining
Reservations are required at La Veranda, which has a la carte fine dining -- and a dress code. El Cocal Restaurant serves buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner with stunning views of the Caribbean. A poolside snack bar lets El Cozumeleno Beach Front Resort guests graze all day and a lobby bar has top-shelf drinks and dominoes for adult play.
Recreation
A kid's activity center and mini-golf course provides hours of fun for families vacationing together. Get revved up on the tennis courts, then completely unplug at the hammock stations. A fitness center and beachfront aerobics classes provide ample opportunities to elevate one's heart rate -- as do the underwater views one sees while snorkeling. A dive shop helps certified divers get up close to the coral reefs on Cozumel and scuba classes are available for beginners.

Perfect if you dont need to eat

With the exception off the food, the resort is amazing. breathtaking view from the room, a wide range of activities included, and only a short cab ride from downtown. Unfortunately the food leaves much to be desired. Being an all inclusive, my expectations for the food and drinks on the resort were low to begin with, but this was beyond anything i expected. The same boiled hot dogs three days in a row and a large infestation of birds picking through the open air buffet was just the beginning. The indoor restaurant was beautiful, but did require reservations. It has the same very limited menu two days in a row, and the food quality is still very poor.

Great people on staff, and the best place to relax and get away!

We've been at this hotel multiple times, and return for a few reasons : 1) The wonderfully friendly staff! 2) The relaxing atmosphere - quiet palapas, hammocks and areas to relax 3) Excellent snorkeling right at the resort. A fun way to cool off in the heat. 4) Amazing value. At these prices we usually include a few excursions into town and don't feel guilty for not solely using the all inclusive restaurants all the time.

Anniversary trip

We had a great 9 day trip. Few complaints about the hotel but the good out weighs the bad any day. (Hard bed, air conditioning couldn't keep up (aim the vents at the bed, it helps tremendously), birds in the ocean view restaurant -no one wants to be pooped on or in competition with a bird while they enjoy their meal- but the staff was great. The views we amazing. They have activities each evening and plenty of on site activities. Taxis are always available to take you anywhere on the island. And the drinks from our all inclusive package were perfect, although we aren't big drinkers... We will definitely go back!!!

Entertainment tip: Short drive from hotel

I highly suggest doing the pirate lobster dinner cruise and the dune buggy/ snorkeling tour while in Cozumel, someone at the hotel can help if you don't prebook!

El Cozumeleno

Fabulous location right on the beach, dinning buffet right on the beach. Lots of fun items for kids to do,can snorkel outside of your hotel every day. Kids loved mini golf and volleyball. Food was good and safe, but needs variety. Pretty much the same basic items each meal and each day prepared the same. Having the Fiesta night and the reservations restaurant helped to break up the meals.

inexpensive dive trip

The not-so-good: WIFI is spotty on the property and non-existent in the rooms but honestly it turned out to be a good thing. it was good to not be 'connected' all the time. Lobby, game room and elevators were hot. Pool bar waiter seemed like he hated his job. Some good/some not-so-good: Food was pretty decent at times and not-so-much at other times. Restaurant generally had better quality. Grilled taco bar was pretty decent also. Pool bar food buffett was pretty bad. Burgers were horrible. The good: Activity staff was great. Beach volleyball and ping pong were fun. room AC was great. Views from room were great. Most of the staff was really friendly, especially Carmelino at the bar next to buffett. Would go again as it's a really good value. Pier on site made it really easy for pickup to go diving.

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

Rent a car for the day and explore the other side of the island. Fun time in the waves. Also Woody's has a great vibe and good service. Live music that is really good and interesting people.

Fun times can be had

Rooms are large but could use some maintenance. Beds and pillows are very hard, bring your own pillows and ask for egg crate cushions to be installed on your bed(s). Buffet food was just average, but the food at the nightly formal dining was very good. Bring your own snorkel gear as the best thing about this hotel is the abundant sea life right off the beach. We saw dolphins, rays, flounders, crabs, and tons of tropical fish. Snorkel along the wall of the pier for the best experience.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Bring your own snorkel gear as you will want to snorkel right off the beach at any time. Its best early in the morning and after 6 PM.

Perfect family vacation

This is our second time staying at el Cozumeleno resort. The kids love it due to many other kids and lots of activities. The pool is on the beach too. Great diving and snorkeling right off the beach. The food and drinks are good and plentiful. The hotel staff is very friendly and will help with anything you need. Our drinks never got half empty before pool waiter was bringing more cold drinks. They have dos Equis on tap too which is great. The only complaint is hard beds and hard pillows.....but it is Mexico and you can't go down there expecting 5 star comfort. Just pack memory foam pillows for your stay. We are going back in November.

Make reservations for the nice restaurant early in the morning. The dress code is long pants and shoes for men. Food and atmosphere in restaurant is amazing. Also an outside restaurant is on site and does not require reservation.

El Cozumeleno Beach Front

Our overall experience was not bad during the day. The problem was at night is the air conditioning, our room was not cool or it is not what I am used to at home. We finally got a fan and that helped but my room was not cool enough. We did some of the excursions and they were great.

They have buffets set up but if you want to make a reservation in the dining room a guy must have long pants to get in. I was not told so I didn't get to eat in formal dining room.

good location

Good wait staff. Snorkeling was better at resort than at the tour we paid for. A boat picked us up at the resort's pier to go to the snorkeling tours. Bring bug spray! They were terrible! It was also a cheap taxi ride to San Miguel. Don't pay $75 for round trip shuttle to and from the airport that you can sign up for on orbtz.Taxis are only about $8. It's a small airport, so getting a taxi is easy. Also, the hotel has a "contract" with a taxi service, so you can get one anytime of day/night w/in secs.
