Beachfront elegance, close to downtown San Miguel
The all-inclusive El Cozumeleno Beach Front Resort offers excellent snorkeling, fine dining and an elegant location: across the street from Cozumel Country Club and its award-winning PGA-approved golf course. Families play together on the mini-golf course or in the kid’s activity center and separate pool. There may not be a reason to leave the property, but if one chooses, downtown San Miguel is just a short taxi ride away.
Highlights
  • Three pools, waterfalls and a beachfront with excellent snorkeling
  • Kid’s activity center and mini-golf course allows families to play together
  • Fine dining and all-day room service available
  • Donatello´s Disco & Karaoke bar for adult-only late-night fun
  • Across the street from Cozumel Country Club
Rooms
Each of the El Cozumeleno Beach Front Resort’s 252 sun-drenched rooms comes with views of the ocean or a patio at the garden level.  The adults-only deluxe rooms have an extra-large wraparound balcony and come furnished with a loveseat, wing chair and two-chair dining set, all of which allow for cozy in-room entertaining.
Dining
Reservations are required at La Veranda, which has a la carte fine dining -- and a dress code. El Cocal Restaurant serves buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner with stunning views of the Caribbean. A poolside snack bar lets El Cozumeleno Beach Front Resort guests graze all day and a lobby bar has top-shelf drinks and dominoes for adult play.
Recreation
A kid's activity center and mini-golf course provides hours of fun for families vacationing together. Get revved up on the tennis courts, then completely unplug at the hammock stations. A fitness center and beachfront aerobics classes provide ample opportunities to elevate one's heart rate -- as do the underwater views one sees while snorkeling. great vacation!

The hotel is VERY nice! I loved the staff over at the Cozumeleño, they were super thoughtful and the service was great! The menu at the main restaurant was a little tiring, they only change the manu every so many days, we ate the same food every single day of our stay.. Don't get me wrong, it was GREAT food, but just eating the exact same thing every single day was a little boring.. They do have one restaurant were you need tu make reservation and dress properly for dinner, and that place is really worth it! we enjoyed a lot eating there! Overall the place is great! I'd love to go again to Cozumel and stay at the cozumeleno, the staff really makes everybody fall in love with the hotel.. and the beach is perfect! I loved doing snorkel there! :) I have to say though, that the cozumeleno is a very family-oriented hotel, is perfect for families with small children because they offer a lot of activities for kids.

Winter getaway

The weather was perfect. The staff is always there to serve and ensure that your stay is wonderful. The food is average. The buffet does not vary much. The snorkeling is great right off the beach. The coral is beginning to grow back. Wonderful to see. It is easy to get to town from the front of the hotel.

Wonderful all inclusive trip

The wait staff and activity staff were the best i have ever experienced. The front desk staff wasn't quite up to par with the rest of the staff but weren't awful. The breakfast buffet was lacking a little bit but the lunch and dinner (reservation restaraunt) were great.

Take a cab instead of getting the roundtrip transfer. Much cheaper and you don't have to stop at other people's resorts.

Nice beach to snorkle Nice pools I thought the food was great. Really a relaxed enviornment. The only thing I didn't like was how far from town it is. Its not walkable you need a cab(80 peaso each way)

Very clean. Good food. Great snorkeling. Friendly staff.

The staff kept the place looking immaculate. The rooms, grounds, and loby were regularly cleaned. the food available was always very flavorful. I was expecting the presentation to be a little more elaborate, but that didn't effect the taste. Ordering from the grill sometimes takes a while. Snorkeling was great right off the beach. Snorkeling equipment was all available, however, it was only available 1 hour per day per room. So, you may want to bring your own if you want to snorkel more than that. Staff was friendly, and they seem to provide better service with tips.

Sightseeing tip: In Hotel

If you want to snorkel more than an hour a day, then you may want to bring your own gear, even though they provide gear for you. Also, the hotel provides a kids activity center (baby sitting), however, if your child is under 4 years old, a parent will have to be in the room with the child. If your child is 5 and over, you can leave them, as long as you stay on the hotel grounds.

Great Value

This was my first time in Cozumel and my first time in Mexico all together. The hotel is a 15 min cab ride from the Ferry to Playa del Carmen (which is a 35 min boat ride) so that was good. The 2 restaurants at the hotel were decent, a buffet (outdoor) and an a la carte restaurant (indoor). The ambiance in the indoor restaurant is good for a nicer dinner. The buffet is right on the beach so you can watch the sunset for dinner if you time it right. The food was decent. I thought the breakfast was the best meal and the Mexican food. It seems that the daytime service was better than the night time service at the buffet. Make sure you bring your ID so you can check out snorkeling gear, life jackets, kayaks, etc. from the activities center. You need to use it as collateral. Unfortunately, you can only check out the gear for an hour at a time. That was kind of a bummer so if you want to do longer snorkeling at the hotel's beach (which is not bad, plenty of fish to see), I would recommend bringing your own gear. They also have some activities that you have to pay for such as jet-skiing, pottery painting, etc. They also have biking, miniature golf (it was too hot to do either of those during the day!), a pool table, table tennis, and horse-shoes (the game) for free. They have Wi-Fi in the lobby but they also had 2 common-use computers (but no printers) in the lobby so you don't need to bring your laptop or use your cellphone data plan. As for the rooms, we upgraded to the Deluxe room. I don't know what the room would've looked like so I can't say if it was worth the upgrade. That being said, my only complaint about the room is that the mattress was not all that comfortable but I was usually so tired most nights that I didn't mind it too much. We also payed $15 a day to have a minibar. In hindsight, it wasn't necessary since drinks are included. My husband and I spent most of our time snorkeling or laying in the hammocks on the beach. We also tried to get a workout in every other day at the fitness room. This is not a full on gym. There are dumbbells up to 8lbs and a really old nautilus machine. If you are looking for a full gym, then this is not the place for you. The aerobic equipment did not work. I felt a bit mislead by the website when they listed fitness equipment on their list of amenities. You're better off running on the beach. All-in-all, very good value for your money. Lots of activities to keep kids entertained. Also good for the adults--drinks, live music on certain days of the week and even a cultural show.

Great Trip

We had a great stay at El Cozumeleno. We were concerned about our 8 year old getting bored, but she had a great time snorkeling, swimming in the ocean and the pools, and eating ice cream from the self serve area - as did our 13 year old. We paid for transfers, but I think it's a lot cheaper to just grab a taxi at the airport. Arrival at El Cozumeleno was simple and check-in was quick. Our room was on the 2nd floor, ocean view, and was great. Large room, very clean, nice balcony with a great view - we were very happy. The beach is fine - a little rocky and a lot of shells, but the water is spectacular. Great snorkeling right at the hotel. You can check out snorkeling gear at the dive shop for free for an hour at a time. We did that several times. Ask at the buffet for some bread to feed the fish and they'll all swarm around you. It's a blast. However, it's a very good idea to bring some water shoes, it's very rocky in the water with coral, etc. We walked to the Melia next door and the beach there is wonderful and sandy, but the water was very murky. I think the reef starts right between the two hotels. The food was okay, not the best we've had at an all-inclusive, but we were able to find things everyone liked. It did get old after a few days. We rented a jeep for a day from Tio and Claudio in the yellow shirts in the lobby and took that out one day to drive around the island. That was great - beautiful scenery and ocean views. The cab fare into town is only $8 from the hotel, so it's cheap to go in for meals. Great trip and the El Cozumeleno is a great older hotel. It's probably 3 to 3.5 stars and perfect if you're not too demanding. The staff was very friendly and accommodating.

Wet Wendy's downtown is a great place to go for food and drinks. They have non-alcoholic frozen drinks for the kids and you can wander around and shop while you're there. Very friendly staff and great drinks.
