Loved Our 2nd Visit Too!
Love the staff--friendly and helpful. Everything is spotlessly clean. Food is good. Location is great. Beach, pools and activities are fun. Just as great as the first time we visited in 2010.

Ironman Triathlon Cozumel
The service was excellent. The upgrade to deluxe rooms was worth it in the amount of water we drank alone! The rooms were enormous and they kept our fridge well stocked. The breakfasts were a delight. They even made egg white omelettes for us. Fresh fruit and lots of it. Lunch was good. Dinner great as we always ate at the La Veranda restaurant (you make reservations for it) every night. As an all-inclusive in Mexico, we all (6 of us) felt it was an incredible deal. Alcohol is included, just remember to order a double and you will be all set. The price was right! Oh, do bring your own shampoo and conditioner as they missed the mark on that one, but no big deal.

Tropical Getaway
This is the 4th time we have stayed at El Cozumeleno and were not dissapointed. Our room was on the 9th floor overlooking the ocean and it was not only spacious but fabulous. I just wish the beds were softer. :-) The entire staff is wonderful. The hotel is clean and modern. Because we stayed during the offseason, we had a chance to order all our meals off the menu which was nice. Didn't have to get dressed up. We took some family members who had never been there and they loved it. We are all going back next summer. We did some diving, both shore and boat. Can't wait to go back.

If you are going to stay any amount of time, rent a car. It is much nicer than having to pay a taxi every time you want to go somewhere or do something.

Great rooms
we've stayed here at least five times now. This is the first time I've stayed off season. They don't have the buffet and you order off the menu. some of the people I went with liked this better. I like the buffet because if i don't like something, I can go back and get something else. Rooms are all very large. very clean. Never seen any kind of bugs other than a fly now and then. They will make any kind of drinks. But it's cheap liquor and I'd prefer canned or bottled beer over the draft!

Great Time in Cozumel; Hotel Was OK
Very quick ride from the airport. Easy check-in. We upgraded to an ocean side suite. Room was clean. Beds were nice and hard. The grounds were very nice. Tennis court was especially memorable. We didn't spend much time in the pool area other than the free introductory scuba lesson. The beach was a lot of fun. Plenty of fish and interesting ocean floor to view while snorkeling. You had to get up pretty early in the morning to get a coveted beach chair/umbrella as there are a dozen or so. The cab fair into town was about $7 US. Wi-Fi was spotty, at best. Constantly had to delete and re-add WAPs. Rented a car several times (NOT through the concierge!!) and did a few laps around the island stopping to snorkel, eat, drink, Punta Sur National Park. Check-out was a huge pain in the butt. When the guest checks in the hotel gives them a "chit" card wherein they can exchange it for beach towels throughout their stay at the cabana. As long as you can produce a towel at the end of your day/stay- you get your card back AND at the end of your stay you produce the cards at check-out and all is good... On our last day I went to retrieve our cards from the cabana and the towel person could only find one of our cards. We were basically accused of stealing a beach towel at check-out and charged $25. It's too bad that this last experience was the the period at the end of vacation.

Sightseeing tip:
Short drive from hotel
Get to Punta Sur National Park when the gates open and snorkel out to their reef first thing in the morning. We saw turtles, lobster, sting rays, and more fish that you can shake a stick at! Later in the day there wasn't nearly as much wildlife to view underwater.

engagement visit
I went to El Cozumeleno and was surprised when my fiance asked me to marry him. They abliged with his surprise to have a filet dinner on our balcony with champagne for free! It was amazing. I thought the food was good and always fresh. Everyone was helpfull and the room was clean! Going back again this weekend to celebrate our honeymoon! Loved this hote and will keep coming back. Plus we met a lot of people that visit this hote every year. Some said for the last 10 years they come back to El Cozumeleno! I'm not staying anywhere else than here!! I know our honeymoon will be amazing!!

Great Value
The pools were great and the staff did a very good job. The food was okay, a little more variety would have been nice but this is an issue with any all-inclusive resort. Rooms were huge and comfortable. Would stay there again, a great value.

with a few improvements it could be 5 stars
As I rated 4 or 5 above I would only mention a few things worth improving: 1) The AC provides freezing air irrespective to settings; therefore we only rarely used it when we were in our room 2) The WF connection is weak (one should go to lobby to get a proper signal) and the hours when internet is provided (8am to 11pm) are not always observed 3) Fish in the menu is not often 4) To request at registration a signed copy of the credit card (to have it in the file) it is not acceptable in my view.
