Beach living in glamorous bungalows on Cozumel
The luxurious all-inclusive Allegro Cozumel resort is on one of Cozumel’s most beautiful beaches and is minutes from one of the world’s largest coral reefs, making it a diver’s dream. Families will love the kid’s waterpark and supervised activities, which include scuba lessons and windsurfing.Highlights
- Located on San Francisco Beach, minutes from Palancar Reef; Pro Dive Mexico Center on site
- Scuba classes and full schedule of sports and activities
- Kids waterpark with slides, splash fountain and supervised activities for little ones
- Four restaurants and five bars on site
- Lighted tennis courts for night play
Rooms
Guests of the Allegro Cozumel stay in recently renovated, two-story Polynesian style bungalows with thatched roofs, yellow sun-colored walls, and a balcony or terrace complete with hammock. Dark wood furniture provides sophisticated accents. Grander suites and accessible rooms also are available. Room amenities include climate control and ceiling fans, cable TV, telephone, bathtub and shower, coffee maker, hair dryer, iron, ironing board and safety deposit box. Cribs and extra beds are available on request.Recreation
Scheduled activities allow families to play tennis, beach volley ball, sail or snorkel together. Or they may freestyle their fun at the kid’s waterpark or as live pieces on the on-site giant chess board. Snorkeling and fishing trips to Palancar Reef and along the coast are led by Pro Dive Mexico Center; scuba lessons also are available. A theater hosts shows nightly.Transportation

I was in Cozumel to compete in the Ironman (this was one of the host hotels). I regret not researching this resort before I booked my package. The food was ok at best, but the noise and smoking were insane. I could not get a good night sleep because I could hear all the yelling, crying, and TVs in neighbors' rooms. I thought about sleeping on my balcony to escape the noise, but my downstairs neighbor would sit outside and smoke all night. I couldn't enjoy the pool or beach area because too many people were smoking there as well. Nothing says paradise like relaxing in the sun and chain-smoking. Please don't stay here unless you enjoy being bothered by obnoxious, noisy families. My friend stayed at the Sabor, which I visited and found to be relaxing, quiet, and more suited for people with atleast a drop of class. I will stay there next year.

Wandering Boomer
A potential gem if not for the rough
From the moment of check-in to the final good-bye I was continually impressed and appreciative of the staff. The purpose of our trip was scuba diving and this resort adjacent to Palancar Reef. Our dive operator was able to pick us up each morning at the resorts dock. The rooms were clean, with plenty of hot water but the mattress was painfully hard and uncomfortable. This was a common experience for our group. The food (breakfast, lunch & dinner; buffet style) was served above the lobby and near one of the 4 swimming pools with 2 specialty restaurants (Mexican and Asian)available for dinner but with reservations (make them upon arrival). Most of the meals were unfailingly disappointing throughout our stay, lacking seasoning and consistently over cooked. First time at this resort and could only recommend if you were willing to rough it.

Ate at Casa Denis. A great little restaurant near the square in downtown Cozumel. Easy find as most locals know it. I liked the fried chicken with mole sauce. (http://www.casadenis.com)

Divers Dream
Hotel facilities are very nice and well-maintained. The staff goes "over-board" in meeting the needs of the guests. Beds are somewhat hard in that they are just mattresses laid on an concrete foundation but egg crate pads are available upon request. The only negative is that the maid failed to leave wash cloths 3 of the 7 days and I had to call the desk to have some delivered. It was impossible to take a nap in the afternoon because of the whistle on the kids pool water-dumping attraction ... it blows very loud every 7 minutes when the water is about to dump and this goes on all afternoon. The upstairs rooms have a thatched roof that is exposed in the rooms ... very quaint BUT at day break, the birds get on the peak of the roofs and start squawking very loudly and will wake you up ... request a downstairs room and you will not hear the birds in the morning but you will hear the tree frogs at night! The wildlife is very noisy!!! The food on the buffets is very good and a good variety everyday. The theme restaurants are also very good but you have to make reservations a day in advance. Every time we ate in these restaurants they were not filled so it was puzzling as to why there had to be reservations made. Having a pro dive shop on the site was a big plus but doing the SCUBA training in the 5-foot deep pool was not so good. The shows at night were repetitive ... Mexican men twirling lights one night and twirling fire the next. Once you have seen one you have basically seen them all. IT IS A GOOD VALUE FOR THE MONEY!!!

Adventure in Paradise
Swine Flu Panic killed tourism to this beautiful resort! It was a true shame that Management had let so many of the Staff go! 140 rooms but ony about 20 occupied! Staff was very grateful for us being there. We were treated like Royalty! An indescribable value! These prices won't last long when the scare is over!

Good overall value.
Good overall value, grounds were very nice, great beach! Very good for divers. Staff was reasonably nice overall. Divers avoid booking through the courtesy desk, go directly to Dive Panancar by the dock on hotel grounds, they cost a little more but they are worth it! Buffets were good but show up early unless you want to wait to be seated.
