Very peaceful location right on the beach

We had a great 10 days here, hotel is right on the beach and it was very peaceful - lots of loungers, lovely pools etc. It's about 20 mins on the local bus to one of the shopping malls where there are restaurants, stop is right outside the hotel so v convenient. We had a couple of meals at the hotel and they were good value too. We opted for a club room so had access to the lounge for evening drinks and canapes which were great - no international spirits included but plenty of beer, wine and cocktails available as well as soft drinks. Within walking distance (10 mins) there is a snack bar where you can have delicious tacos overlooking the lagoon for bargain prices - it's nothing fancy but the food is amazing. The hotel is looking tired and there are glitzier resort, but then they are in busier parts so depends what's important to you. We like the service at Westin resorts and the beds are always great so perfect for R&R. The sea can be very rough in front of the hotel but if you walk a few mins to the right towards the rocks, it is very calm and you can easily swim there. Trips sold within the hotel are more expensive than you can get online so do that instead and arrange your transfer with Cancun-taxi rather than through the hotel.

Nice quiet getaway for two.

Good location right next to the bus stop turnaround. Staff is friendly, grounds are clean and the food is good. We always stay at the Royal Beach Club rooms as it is quieter and have our own private pool and concierge.

How is this place 4 stars?

First the location is good. It's a quick drive to or from the airport. And It's on a nice section of the beach next to the club med. Secondly the staff does try very hard and deserve a lot of credit for keeping this place running. Problems... 1. I asked for a non smoking room and was supposedly on a non smoking floor. However someone in one of the neighboring rooms would smoke and when they did our bathroom smelled like a bar from the 70s. There wasn't just a smell of smoking, it truly reeked and we had to open up the doors to clear the smell out. 2. My reservation was completely messed up. When booking the room, I looked for one that had all the amenities before purchasing. However when we tried to use them we were told by the staff that we were flagged as not having access to them. Finally gave up and didn't even try anymore as the experience was not enjoyable. 3. To make #2 even more annoying a couple checking in at the same time as us, were upgraded for free from the Westin to the Royal Beach Club where we were staying. They had access to all the amenities. So I paid for them but couldn't use them, they didn't pay for them but had full access. Way to win friends Westin! 4. The Food and drinks were not 4 star. The drinks were watered down and this was only one place in Mexico that the food actually made me ill. 5. Drunks. I know this is Cancun, and that's why people come here but this hotel was rated as family friendly. I didn't expect to have to deal with the level of loud drunk, smoking baby boomers that I found here. 6. The facility itself is just average. If you took away the beach, you are staying at something comparable to a Days Inn. 7. The maintenance of the place is sliding. Our door had obviously been kicked in at some time in the past and had been glued back together not replaced. All in all I can't recommend this hotel to anyone at the moment unless you are getting a serious deal on the price and don't plan on doing anything but sleeping at the hotel. The staff are great and the location is great, but facility itself does nothing but detract from value of the staff and location.

perfect for R&R

We chose this hotel for its location. Away from the action. The staff was very attentive and, food was very good , and it was quiet for sleeping. Luxurious beds.! The rooms were large and comfy and we had a great view on oceanside. Would recommend an inclusive breakfast at the hotel, as it was a bit on the high side for breakfast buffet, very good selection tho. This hotel would be my choice the next trip to Cancun.

Perfect for R&R

The beach here is fantastic, the beds are very comfy, and the hotel and rooms are very clean. We ate in 2 of the restaraunts and ordered beach side once, getting great service and very good food each time. Being as the resort is the southermost on the zone, it is a quiet place to get a good nights sleep. We chose to be away from the bars and nightclubs and I feel we chose very well. No complaints. Would recommend an all inclusive breakfast next time. Good, but resort prices. I look forward to returning.

Great place to unwind

The Westin's at the end of the Cancun Hotel zone strip, so quieter than most. We stayed in the Royal Beach Club, which has nicer views, free breakfast buffet, and unlimited drinks with some snacks at happy hour. The facilities are great, the beach is gorgeous, the hub-bub is a short bus ride away, and tour buses will pick up anywhere. We were very pleased with our stay.

The main square in the "town" of Cancun is lively on a Saturday night. It probably varies week to week, but lots of children buzzing around in rented motor cars, assorted musicians, and great people-watching are probably constants.

Vacation to thaw out!

This hotel is too far from restaurants, shopping, and the downtown area. The bus picks you up in front of the hotel. The rooms need updating and the hotel food was ok. On our next visit we will stay in Isla Mujeres.

You must go to Isla Mujeres. There are several ferriers but puerto Juarez. is the best; the boats come more frequent and they are a bit bigger. Take the yellow and blue ferry. Eat at Mocombo (Isla Mujerers), the food was excellent. Mocombo is located on main street right near the ferry.
