not worth the money

The Westin was the most over priced resort I have ever stayed at. The location is bad. The cleaning staff did not do their job. The food was sooooooo over priced. You could not eat breakfast for under 100 dollars. (5 dollars for a cup of coffee) My advise would be do your homework if traveling to Cancun and stay closer in.

Be prepared to pay $8 US for a bottle of water

The room was beautiful and the bed extremely comfortable. AC worked fine. There was plenty of hot water in shower. Very clean. Some drainage problems - to be expected in Cancun. Food very expensive, and not particularly good. (I lived in Mexico for 7 years, so I know what you can get with regular Mexican fare). The real shocker was not having available drinkable water anywhere, other than bottled water (as part of the mini-bar and in the restaurants). Two brands available ranging in price from $7-$8 US. Thankfully, the bus stops in front of the hotel and we took several trips into town, filling our backpacks with 50 cent (same size) bottled water. Other than the pool, you would have to pay extra for Fitness Center ... Does not seem like an entertaining place for kids. Not much to do.

good for a quick getaway

We were very pleased with the overall aspects of the hotel. We didn't use the dining opportunities due to just too many choices outside of the premises. There was adequate space for all clothes and we were happy with the accomodatins. the only down side was the coffee maker was broken when we got there but they switched it out for a different model and did not give us the right packets for the new one so it was a little messy trying to use a 4 cup packet for a single serving coffee maker. I know that is a little thing, but we do like our coffee in the morning.

A Honeymooners Dream

The Westing Resort and Spa was absolutely all that we had hoped for and then some. The room was perfect, very modern and clean. The things in the room (i.e. air conditioner- very important in Mexico in July, television, showers, in room safe-provided free of charge too!, refrigerator, etc.)worked as they should have.nice sized closet to hang things, as well as an in room hair dryer and iron. There is a The air conditioner kept the room very comfortable almost even cold (but that was my fault!). Our room 1241 had a shower and a seperate bathtub, which was very nice. The hotel staff were extremely friendly and easy to find, considering that we arrived close to midnight we expected to be lugging our own bags up to the room, but we were greeted very warmly by one of the bellmen. He was extremely kind to us, told us all about the hotel and where to find things, as well as information about the hotel zone in general and things to watch out for. He was one of the most hospitable people that we met while on our honeymoon. The location is perfect for honeymooners, away from the 'action' of Cancun (while it is only a short bus ride away if that is what you are looking for). The beach at the Westin Resort and Spa is absolutely breathtaking. There was a nice wide expanse of beach as well as tons of sunning chairs. There were hotel staff that came around while we were on the beach offering to get drinks but they did not come up very frequently (which was actually nice). This hotel has a wide variety of pools and quite a few of them, they were always clean and most times not very 'busy'. The only downfall to this hotel is the expensive breakfast buffet at $24 each person it is a bit pricey, but we could have just as well went out to get breakfast, it did taste good and was nice to not have to leave the hotel for every meal.

TAKE LOTS OF SMALL BILLS!bus=.65cents USD. BEWARE check your change.Husband gave driver a $20 (last day, no more small bills) it should have cost $1.30. He gave husband what equaled $9 USD.I overheard 2 fellow riders (hotel workers) conversing with the driver in Spanish about shorting us.I had husband count the change.Driver then gave us the rest.

Friendly

The Westin was very comfortable. The room is airy and clean. The location, however, is less desirable for those who want to be closed to the festivities and actions of Cancun. It is located almost at the southern end of the Hotel Strip, so in order to go to clubs and markets, you need to take a 10-15min bus rides (very cheap and convenient) If you want peace and quiet, this is the place.

Nice Honeymoon Spot

We loved this Hotel. Westin knows how to treat it's guests, and like other international Westins we were well taken care of. The Westin Cancun Resort and Spa style was Mexican-influenced and very modern and stylish. It's the closest hotel to the airport. We used the clean, cheap public buses to travel the hotel strip and get to nightlife and shopping. The best part was the room-- the Westin Heavenly Bed is the best bed you'll ever sleep on! I only stay in Westins for this reason. The amenities were superb. The beach and pool were wonderful. It doesn't have a hot tub, but most cancun hotel don't. It does have jacuzzis in the spa, which is world-class. We can't wait to go again.

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

The Hotel Zone is very American with malls, restaurants and services you'd find in any nice tourist area. The best part of the trip was our day trip to Isla Mujeres, a small island with ferry service from Cancun. It was quiet with little shops and nice beaches.

The Westin Cancun Resort

The Westin Cancun Resort and Spa is a wonderful place to stay.? It is a large clean property with a great number of activities and aminities to offer all guests.? I especially recommend staying at the club level for an added value of daily breakfast and evening hourderves and cocktails as well as a private pool for guests registered at club level.?
