not bad

not what you would expect from a Westin, except for the price of services at the hotel of course. Still a very nice place for a quick break.

Westin Resort and Spa

The hotel was clean and all the staff that we interacted with was very helpful. The concierge [...] was patient and provided great restaurant recommendations and activities. I would recommend this hotel. It is away from some of the night life, but great for a peaceful vacation. We often took the bus to places we wanted to go and getting around via the bus was very easy.

all in all well worth it

The folks at the Westin are great and I do encourage the Royal Beach Club package (except that they advertise the Wifi as free when it is not). You get a good breakfast and evening food and drink as part of the package, plus you have your own pool area for your building. The place is clean, quiet, and the spa was wonderful.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

There is a nice area to snorkel just a short walk from the Westin. It is off the Club Med area, so you do not need to take a boat to see some wonderful fish.

Fantastic hotel

We stayed at the Royal Beach Club and we really got more than we expected. Although the breakfast and afternoon "happy hour" are not full blown buffets, they are actually very close to that. We really saved a lot of money thanks to that. Me and my wife had massages at the spa on our last day in the hotel, and both were highly satisfied with the service. The only downside for this hotel is that it is not within walking distance to the shopping centers, restaurants, etc. But the bus ride is very affordable, so this is not a big problem. Higly recommended!

everything was fine

Everybody was very friendly, the kid's place was a safe and fun place for my 4 year old daughter and the room was very clean and had a beatiful view, (RBC). Very far from everything but it makes nice and peaceful...so it makes hard to decide if it's worthed or not. you need a bus to go everywhere... one thing that made us a little upset it was that on the last day they didn't let us have breakfast, even after spending $850 with the food and drinks around the pool. So they did let us stay on the RBC without paying more or else we would have to change rooms but without privileges...

Relaxing resort hotel

The hotel room was beautiful (but note: I paid for the Preferred Status room/floor), and the staff was professional and courteous. The location is beautiful, and the beach is gorgeous. The restaurants were all mediocre, however, and way overpriced. This is an issue because downtown Cancun, where there are other restaurants, requires a significant bus or cab ride unless you don't mind eating at tourist trap locations that are also mediocre and overpriced. Also, the fact that you are charged for in-room coffee after your first cup is ridiculous. And the wi-fi is agonizingly slow - it's only 54kbps, or dial-up speed. For $15/day. As long as you don't care about those two things, you won't regret booking here.

Take the bus for 8 pesos (less than a US dollar) into downtown Cancun and go to the first Oxxo (convenience store) you see. Buy a large container of water and bring it back to the hotel. Otherwise, you'll be paying $5-8 per liter for bottled water in your room.
