The Westin is a great place to have your base in Cancun - the hotel is huge and has great facilities. It has one of the best ... beaches currently. It also has a beach on the lagoon side which is unique. 7 swimming pools - and most of them were empty so you can have a private pool for yourself. the rooms are huge compared to other places I have stayed and the beds are super comfy.

Westin is awesome. The best location if you are a beach bum. It has really nice strip of beach and also just a short walk you ... can have a great snorkeling area. The staff is really friendly and helpful and stay comfortable. They did however increase prices from their food to misc items.

Wonderful service, great beach
Beach lover Nov 19, 2009
We stayed November 11-18th and had a wonderful relaxing time. The staff was friendly and attentive(Constantly cleaning and ... repairing). This is an older hotel but the great beach, easy access to bus transportation, and wonderful service make up for it. Our first room was a bit mildewy smelling, it may have been shut up for too long (we expect a little mildew smell having stayed in Jamaica and Cozumel)so we requested a different room the next day. No problem, they allowed me to check out the room first and it was even in a better location than the first. The beach was great, swam 6 out of 7 days, yellow flags most days with lifeguard on duty each day. Snorkeling on reef just a short walk away. Would encourage you to do the royal beach club, breakfast was great each am and a different assortment for appetizers each night. We mainly ate out each night at different restaurant in town each night, but had lunch most days at the resort and food usually hotel food, slightly pricey, but good.

The hotel accommodations were excellent. The room was extremely clean and beautiful. The ocean view was spectacular. The ... food and service were very good. We never interrupted by loud guests. The Concierge was extremely helpful, and recommended a couple of great restaurants and was happy to make the reservations for us.

Very highly recommend a visit to Boca del Puma for an excellent zip line experience. They reportedly have the highest lines in the area, and the service was perfect. They took extra care to make sure all the equipment worked properly and that we were comfortable. They actually went on the lines with us. Steer clear of the others, the long lines, and rude tourists.

Although we were there during the tropical storm IDA we still had a nice time in Cancun. The hotel was average, staff ... friendly and helpful. The hotel rooms smelled 'moldy' and the windows leaked during heavy rain storms. The maid did not replenish our shamppoo/conditioners and did not clean the floors.

We weren't on the meal plan because we wanted to experience lots of different eating locations. The breakfast at the hotel ... was expensive, but great. It worked out fine, you do have to ride the bus(taxis are expensive), and being at the far end of the island it took awhile to get where you're going. It was at the "quiet" end of the island, so for us, that was nice. We went diving with scubacancun, great experience. Would do again. Whatch the bus drivers, several tried to short change us. Everyone in the different restaurants on the island, was very helpful.Change your dollars to pesos before you leave home, to get the best exchange rates.

George, Las Vegas Realtor Oct 19, 2009
Upon our arrival, we were informed that the beach view room I had reserved was not available; that there was a room with ... lagoon view, which in their opinion was a better due to the balcony, since the room I had reserved with an ocean view had no balcony! (down grading the ocean view). And the next day they would transfer us to the room I had reserved. I had to ask for the room transfer, and then even move our personal belongings. I was charged $30.00 dollars US per night for my daughter who is 18 (in a roll-a-way). I had also asked to a late check out, to and to my surprise there was a $10.00 dollar fee! Oh by the way Wi-Fi is $14.99 per 24hr of Wi-Fi service.

ocean view rooms are great. They are spacious and big windows are good to watch ocean, beach, sunrise and the town. I like to ... hear waves at night on the bed. the room is super clean. The housekeeper changes the bed every day. The private beach is wonderful. This is the only hotel I can find in that area so accessable to the sea. All people working there are very nice and helpful. The only thing I don't like is that they charge internet and connection fee for even phone card international call. But still I recommend this hotel to all other people.

The beach right at the hotel was nice and quiet. However there is a lot of erosion and they had large cemented areas to keep ... the sand up so occassionally you would stub your foot on a block on cement since it was hard to see. The restaurants at the hotel were very expensive and the pool bar menu was the same as the restaurant. The beds were nice and comfortable and the double headed shower was awesome.

We stayed at the Royal beach club during off season in sept. The rooms, breakfast, and free happy hour are well worth the ... upgrade. The rooms were 100% better than the regular rooms. Depending on the concerige, they were helpful. It was hit or miss with them (the men usually more helpful). We spent 7 days in cancun. It was a lot of fun, but i thought it would be more restful. There are a lot of things to do in cancun though. The day i actually spent at the hotel was great, spent the day at the pool and the beach. Sometimes there would be mexicans asking to buy things, but you'll find that all up and down the beach. When you book trips, i would book them toward the hotel zone and not at the hotel because you can bargin with agent in the booths. We went to chichin itza tour for $45 dolalrs booking it down town.

Royal Beach Club Vacation
The Sisters Sep 21, 2009
Royal Beach Club had all I had requested--ocean view, balcony, and breakfast. However, rather than a queen/king size bed, we ... were given two regular size beds. The breakfasts were really fantastic, but quite a hike from the room. The evening happy hour was also really great. Check-in was quite confusing, as we had been told to check in at the Royal Beach Club, but in reality, check-in was in the main lobby of the resort. Tours booked through hotel people were much more expensive than those booked through the travel agency across the parking lot in another hotel. Overall, it was a very nice place to stay, rooms were clean, the beach beautiful, and the pools very clean. Service was generally good and most staff very friendly.

Overall, Wonderful Stay.
Honeymooners Sep 9, 2009
Overall the hotel was beautiful, spacious, and wonderful. The beach was great, plenty of room and right there with the hotel, ... pretty private space. When we arrived the hotel was no help with helping us get a king size bed during our stay, while on our honeymoon, they acted like all rooms were booked, I couldnt even upgrade. Called orbitz and they blocked a room for us the next day! It was much much better. We only had 1 problem while at the hotel, and that was the room at first, the staff member we had was terrible, all others there were fantastic! After getting to deal with more people and this one woman, [...], she was great! Very Very helpful! We definitly want to go back. We wouldnt change a thing about the hotel. The pool was great, we had the royal beach package, so there was a pool in front of that area, and another pool for the other rooms, it was great. Overall for it being our honeymoon we had a wonderful time. The hotel was down the strip from the main part of town, so it wasnt loud or people in the way, it was just peaceful and a wonderful time! We will be going back sometime!

The bus stop is just outside of the entrance of the hotel. Take the bus! Much much cheaper than the taxi! And the bus is a fun/neat experience. not even 1 US dollar per person to take the bus, the taxi is like 20 something dollars no matter how far. The bus takes you to the other side of town. But you will want to exchange money for pesos. much easier.

La Paloma is delicious. It's a bit of a hike, but basically you take the buses into town (about 60 cents a person), then cab 5 minutes or walk 20 minutes to the restaurant. If you don't speak spanish, maybe cab it, we had to ask a few people for directions but found it eventually. The Westin gives coupons for a free drink there. It's next to mercado 28 if you end up doing some shopping there, it's a great place for lunch or dinner!
