Members and guests can relax on the beach or by the pools and enjoy a variety of activities including tennis, volleyball, aqua aerobics and sail boating.
One registered guest in each villa must be at least 25 years of age and willing to accept responsibility for the actions of all villa occupants.
Guests staying on Saturday night may need to change units. The hotel will work to avoid this scenario, but when necessary, management will work directly with guests to streamline this process.
The lovingly tended gardens between The Royal Mayan and its sister resorts The Royal Caribbean and The Royal Islander are full of hibiscus, bougainvillea and other tropical shrubs to attract colorful native birds and butterflies.
From its name to the sculptures of Mayan gods and long-lost rulers in the lobby and in the gardens and even the hand-carved mahogany villa doors, The Royal Mayan takes its inspiration from the Maya, one of the most sophisticated ancient cultures in the Americas. There is even an archaeological site on the doorstep! San Miguelito is a small Mayan ruin in the jungle between the resort and the highway that dates from the Post-Classic period of Mayan history (A.D. 900-1521), when Cancun was settled by traders, farmers and fishermen.
Guests have a choice of two restaurants at The Royal Mayan: La Palapa, a thatched poolside eatery offering International and Mexican favorites and El Conquistador, an intimate setting for a romantic candlelit dinner.

Great family getaway
Great experience at the Royal Mayan. Would definitely go back to the Royal Mayan or another Royal resort. It was nice to have the beach front room. What a beautiful view of the ocean from your back porch. The staff was very friendly and attentive to your needs. Happy hour was pretty cheap. The pina coladas were delicious! The beds in the hotel were hard as bricks. Not very comfortable to the back. However, the suite was very nice and clean with many amenities inside.

Money-saving tip:
Short drive from hotel
Take the bus ALL the time to anywhere you go outside the resort. It's way cheaper than taking a taxi. Bus ride is 8.50 pesos (about 70 cents) where taxi rides can be over 10 dollars to go a mile or two. Be sure to take a map with you on the bus. The bus drivers don't always remember to tell you when you have reached your stop.

Had a great time on our family vacation!
We had a great itme at the Royal Mayan. It was nice to stay at 1, but you could play/dine at all 5 of the Royal resorts. Since it is a timeshare resort, things are always maintained, and the grounds were always manicures to perfection. Employees always say Hola, when they pass by you. Beach was amazing, and very clean. Food was amazing as well. This was the first time our kids have been out of the country, and they LOVED it! They are already talking about what we will do when we go back, next time.

In Hotel
Thomas Moore Travel has a booth right in the resort, so you can book excursions, and airport travel through them, and it just gets billed to your room, with your key card. Also they pick you up at the front door, and you know it is a safe reliable company. Knowledgeable guides on excursions as well.

We are so glad we chose this hotel, it is very nice, clean, quite atmosphere and we absolutely loved it. The prices for food where pretty high, but similar to everywhere else on that strip. If you chose this place, you will love it!!!! The fish taco's are awesome also.

Amazing Experience at the Royal Mayan!
The beach view at my room made me fall in love with this place. The hotel is so elegant, since the moment that you go in, all the staff is very polite and welcoming, there won't be a better way to start your trip than by staying in this beautiful location. The check-in process was not long and we were kindly directed to our rooms, there we were given a perfectly clean room with all the commodities, as i mentioned before the ocean view was the most amazing thing, the sunrise never looked so beautiful. The facilities at the hotel were super nice, the pool was clean all the time and it was never crowded, the beach entrance of the hotel was equally taken care of, clean and beautiful sand. The staff where really helpful recommending activities to do, we where able to book a tour in the hotel itself at the travel tour agency they have at the lobby, they were really helpful and made our experience that much better. THe hotel distance was about 15minutes from downtown Cancun and it was pretty simple and safe to mobilize to and from the hotel by using the buses, there was always security in the hotel so you should not worry about getting safe to the hotel, there will be always someone by the hotel entrance. The only thing I would change if possible on my next trip would be to not have to switch to a different room during the weekend, they took care of all of our luggage and everything but it would be better if we didn't have to move. The cleaning was also very professional, the room service came while we were out but they left everything perfectly clean, new towels were placed in our bathroom and all our belongings where in the same place we left them

Great value, attention to detail
Great value for the price! The employees went out of their way to make sure everything was clean and maintained. When we had to move to another room and got assigned the worst room in the place, we quickly got it changed to a great view. The beach was beautiful. would have been nice to have more beach activities and sports to do. What happened to the bannana boats? Highly recommend this place to stay. We were not assaulted by time share people.

Great value at a wonderful location!
We found the staff and the whole hotel complex stunning! Well laid out..right on the beach and very comfortable. Only complaint is that there is no coffee provided for the filter coffee machine-there was a shop where coffee was available, but only in large packets..we only needed for a few days. Other than that, a perfect family place with very friendly and helpful staff!
