The Royal Mayan is the hideaway for your Mexican Caribbean dream vacation. Nestled beside Cancun's finest beach, the resort offers endless views of powder-white sands and sparkling turquoise waters. Experience tropical ease and elegance at every turn, spacious self-catering villas and an impressive array of resort services.

Members and guests can relax on the beach or by the pools and enjoy a variety of activities including tennis, volleyball, aqua aerobics and sail boating.

Guests staying on Saturday night may need to change units. The hotel will work to avoid this scenario, but when necessary, management will work directly with guests to streamline this process.

The lovingly tended gardens between The Royal Mayan and its sister resorts The Royal Caribbean and The Royal Islander are full of hibiscus, bougainvillea and other tropical shrubs to attract colorful native birds and butterflies.

From its name to the sculptures of Mayan gods and long-lost rulers in the lobby and in the gardens and even the hand-carved mahogany villa doors, The Royal Mayan takes its inspiration from the Maya, one of the most sophisticated ancient cultures in the Americas. There is even an archaeological site on the doorstep! San Miguelito is a small Mayan ruin in the jungle between the resort and the highway that dates from the Post-Classic period of Mayan history (A.D. 900-1521), when Cancun was settled by traders, farmers and fishermen.

Guests have a choice of two restaurants at The Royal Mayan: La Palapa, a thatched poolside eatery offering International and Mexican favorites and El Conquistador, an intimate setting for a romantic candlelit dinner.

Beautiful Resort for our family!

We loved our suite...very convenient to be able to cook some meals while we were there. The proximity of our suite to the ocean was perfect. Everything was incredibly well maintained and clean and there were staff members always present working on the property. We enjoyed having the use of the sister resorts which gave us a bit more variety. We felt the prices in the shops and salon were typical for a resort and not overly high. We used the Travel Agency which made our life much easier when planning excursions. I would most definelty visit this resort again!

Great Place to Vacation!

My husband and I stayed in a suite with our teenage daughters (15, 17). The hotel was great: clean and in a great location with stunning ocean views. The staff was pleasant and helpful. Rooms were luxurious and very clean. Unique design and architecture of the building. We definitely would stay there again. We just wished we could have booked a specific room before we got there. You don't really know beforehand, which exact room you will get. However, the staff was very accommodating and we liked what we got (C 509)!

Great location and fabulous beaches!

We had our family in a 2-bedroom suite for a week. Very friendly staff, comfortable rooms and beds, and beautiful views of the creamy-blue ocean from our hotel balcony! This is a nice resort, which caters to mature visitors or families (not your noisy, party hotel...), and you will definitely get much-needed peace to relax and enjoy your surroundings, before heading back to wherever you came from. As far as activities, make sure you book the ocean diving course if you can. It is safe and well organized and absolutely worth it. We also booked a diver with an underwater HD camera to follow our family dive, and we now have wonderful videos and pictures of our 30-foot dive off an Isla Mujeres reef. Fantastic! We would book the Royal Mayan again, with no hesitation!

The two small beachfront snack bars have GREAT tasting food and very service-minded staff, who will do their best to make you and your family very comfortable anywhere on the hotel beach, and it will cost you much less than the restaurants in/out of the hotel.

Wonderful getaway

We enjoyed very much our 5 nights stay in Royal Mayan hotel. Everywhere in the hotel resort was impressively clean and well maintained. The only shame is the WiFi is too weak to provide Internet connection.

Great Family Vacation

A great place for a family vacation. We went there during Spring Break and the resort really caters to families versus the college crowd. Definitely a great value.

Great family getaway

Great experience at the Royal Mayan. Would definitely go back to the Royal Mayan or another Royal resort. It was nice to have the beach front room. What a beautiful view of the ocean from your back porch. The staff was very friendly and attentive to your needs. Happy hour was pretty cheap. The pina coladas were delicious! The beds in the hotel were hard as bricks. Not very comfortable to the back. However, the suite was very nice and clean with many amenities inside.

Take the bus ALL the time to anywhere you go outside the resort. It's way cheaper than taking a taxi. Bus ride is 8.50 pesos (about 70 cents) where taxi rides can be over 10 dollars to go a mile or two. Be sure to take a map with you on the bus. The bus drivers don't always remember to tell you when you have reached your stop.

Had a great time on our family vacation!

We had a great itme at the Royal Mayan. It was nice to stay at 1, but you could play/dine at all 5 of the Royal resorts. Since it is a timeshare resort, things are always maintained, and the grounds were always manicures to perfection. Employees always say Hola, when they pass by you. Beach was amazing, and very clean. Food was amazing as well. This was the first time our kids have been out of the country, and they LOVED it! They are already talking about what we will do when we go back, next time.

Sightseeing tip: In Hotel

Thomas Moore Travel has a booth right in the resort, so you can book excursions, and airport travel through them, and it just gets billed to your room, with your key card. Also they pick you up at the front door, and you know it is a safe reliable company. Knowledgeable guides on excursions as well.
