4 nights at the ritz in cancun

we travel quite a bit and often visit cancun because you can get there non-stop from many locations. the ritz carlton truly is a 5 star hotel. the facilities are grand and if you appreciate the older hotels of an earlier generation, this one is top notch. most of all, however, is the staff. from the pool attendants to the service people inside the hotel, they are all wonderfully helpful and eager to assist in any way. it is genuine and my wife and i appreciated it greatly. one problem: should a hotel of this status really hit you $20 a day to be connected to the internet?

The best hotel in Cancun

This hotel is by far the best hotel in Cancun. They had great restaurants and it was inexpensive compared to other top notch hotels in the U.S. Also, we really liked SPA in the hotel. We got massages and they were the best massage ever! One thing that we did not liked was the high price of using wireless internet ($25).

the dining at the hotel was incredible for quality and service, but if you want to have 5-10 min walk there is a great steak house (Puerta Meadores) and an italian resturant (Dolce Vita)

Pampered at the Elegant Ritz-Carlton

We enjoyed working out each morning in the fitness room where we were given cold eucalyptus fragrant towels and bottles of water to cool ourselves. The beach and pool attendants were very helpful and friendly. They did a nice job setting up your beach lounge chairs with nice towels and umbrellas and canopies if you so desired. Restaurant food was delicious. We would highly recommend an evening dinner on the moonlite beach, be sure to make reservations! The concierge was very helpful with making other restaurant reservations. You could easily walk or take the city bus to those if you preferred that over renting a car or taxi. We did rent a car one day to drive to Akumal towards Tulum. We had stayed in a house there a few years ago and just wanted to go back and see how much it had changed. The drive was easy and fun! We did not get sick and we felt very safe the entire time we were in Cancun. We already are talking about going back, it was so relaxing!

Service Excellence!

Everything at the hotle was excellent. My only problem was the food and drink onsight were a bit too pricey. We made our morning jog to Starbucks (~1 mile away - city bus an option for about 75 cents) for a cheap breakfast. We also grabbed a bottle of booze and mixers from the convinience store across the street to eleviate the pain of $12 drinks.

Love the Ritz Cancun...

We went without kids to relax and it was the perfect getaway. I think every room has an ocean view and it is a gorgeous view of the Carribean. The hotel is beautiful and the service is top notch as you would expect from a Ritz. We have done the all-inclusive Cancun area trip and it's not really for us. This was perfect and with the package the Ritz offers during the off-season it was like being at an all inclusive with Ritz service and quality. We will definitely be going back!

We used Cancun Shuttle as our transportation to and from the Airport. No problems whatsoever and a lot cheaper than the transport the Ritz offers.

One of the best vacations ever

We stayed around the pools most of the time. The only negative was after the first day the surf became very rough and I was unable to go into that gorgeous ocean. The buffet breakfast was delicious -such a large variety - it's goingto take ahile to lose all the pounds. The staff greeted to and after they remembered your name they would use it. Wehad no problems with the hotel and would definitely stay there again. We would also try other Ritz- Carltons as their service was incredible.

Great Stay at the Ritz Carlton

We have stayed at several great properties in Cancun (Le Meridien, Fiesta Americana Grand Coral Beach) and the Ritz has always been one of our favorites. Now that the beach is back it is unbeatable. This was our first time going over the New Year's holiday, and it was great.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Everyone knows the food and drink at resorts is expensive and the Ritz is probably one of the worst when it comes to this. There is a small market right across the street that has water, snacks and drinks. You can save up 80% with just a 10 minute walk.
