Nice place

This was a very nice hotel for the money. The food is excellent and the staff is great. the only problem(s) were: The flowers they have in the lobby attracts a lot of small flies that are constantly bothering you. They are like little knats. The other problem was that they said the room had WiFi. I bought a weeks worth and when it didnt work, I called the front desk and after a few minutes they told me that you could only get internet in the lobby (it was free). I didnt get my money back for the internet I paid for though. The room sits on the lagoon side of the island and makes for a very peaceful setting. If I had kids they would have much better liked being on teh ocean side but for me it was fine.

Time-saving tip: Not Applicable

Take a taxi from the airport. It is much faster and more comfortable than the shuttle. It does cost a lot more though

Remote Island of peace and absolute isolation

At first, you see beautiful display of mixed exotic vegetation and a nice cozy little white houses. However, soon enough you find out that everything is not so perfect as it seems. At our arrival at the airport the transportation Company (G L) did not have our names at their list even when we had our vouchers. So we waited around an hour arguing with the company guy about our transportation which is included in the package. Also, he took our vouchers. Moreover, the service was not that great and all the shows at the hotel were poor and not exciting. Also, they were selling Shares to all of us even when we were not interested, for example, at your arrival you had to see someone from the hotel to explain you what to do and where to go, but he was selling you some share times and he did not take NO for an answer. Furthermore, when we arrived from the airport at two o'clock PM we could not enter our rooms because the check in time is at 4PM and check out time is at 10 AM. This created many problems because when we booked at O....Z our rooms were available till 12 AM and not 10 AM. The staff tried to remove us out from our rooms around eight something AM. In the package, they offering you a free transportation to the other hotel SUNSET ROYAL by boat or a mini bus and of course, both of them were not available because they were broken. As a result, you have to take a taxi or a public transportation at your own expense. On our way back the driver from the Green line company arrived without any notice or any phone call to pick us up. He gave us 10 minutes to leave the hotel. When my girlfriend went down to talk to the driver he told her that some woman made reservation with us at 12 and that we confirmed that. However, that was not a case because nobody made any contact with us regarding our way back to the airport. The driver when we began to plead our cases that there is a mistake and that nobody confirmed with us anything about all this he became rude and used inappropriate language.

I got what I paid for!

The main issue was with the staff; not real friendly. They could hardly understand English. Though the package I booked was an "All-Inclusive", I decided to tip anyone that helped me with 20 Pesos or more. The service never got better. The price I paid reflected the value...I guess. I will do more research the next time.

A Flea Market is located about 500 yards away. The staff will never tell you its there. Great for knick-nacks and souvenirs.

All inclusive but less perks

We went on a bike tour we also ate at the buffet and snack bar. Although we enjoyed the food they were lacking nightly entertainment. The front desk staff were very brief and not to friendly was not very informative. The staff at Sunset Lagoon did not speak much english which made communication ineffective. In other places that we stayed they were able to speak English fluently. If you stay at Sunset Lagoon it is good to know basic spanish. Be sure to take the boat or shuttle to the sister resort Sunset Royal to visit the beach .

Great couples vacation

We had the best time! Te staff is great and very nice!! any questions they will answer it or find someone who can. They are the sweetest, i loved everything about this hotel, my hubby and i will deferentially come back to this specific one. The sister resort the sunset royal is beautiful but the staff there is nasty and have attitudes. I recommend the lagoon for any couple or family they have the best pool, people from the royal came to the lagoon just for the pool. The food is pretty good as well. They have alot of activity's going on if you dont like that then they can help you book tours.
