We went there for 6 days and let me tell you this was the best place in cancun, everything was perfect we stayed in room 511 ... concierge level I so recomend this well worth it, the food was great, drinks omg awesome, weather perfect, staff the best. I will for sure be back sun palace wow you out done your self. see you in a year.

One Of TheNicest Place We've Ever Stayed

Just got back from staying at the Sun Palace (11/18/09-11/22/09). This was our first trip without kids, and it was so nice. ... Rooms were spotless and we had the best beach in the area. By far the best all inclusive food we've ever had. 90% of everything is made to order. Had no complaints and no hassles. The clientle at the resort was just as we were hoping for (no 21 yr old drunk and obnoxious, and no kids) Well worth the extra money. The only complaint if you want to call it that, was that our rooms balcony (on the 7th floor) was very small and not private. You could literally touch the other rooms balcony and hold a conversation with someone if they were outside next to you. Not very romantic or private. But for our stay since it wasnt full, it wasnt a real problem. The only other thing I was surprised about was that they didnt have corona on tap or anyplace. And it would have been nice if they had cans or bottles available in the restuarants. The only exursion we did was the Zipline tour..and that was so much fun. It was also very fast..we were back at our hotel by 11am..so still had the day to lounge around. Would highly recommend. On a side note..we brought along travel mugs and would recommend doing that as it kept your drinks cold!

There is an oriental restuarant on the 1st floor..that is away from the other restaurants. We went there for appetizers (spring rolls) as someone suggested. Was very surprised that is was outside! Had no idea. We just had the appetizers so couldnt comment on the actual dinners..but it's a great atmosphere. Nearly empty and there is an outside bar that you could just sit at there if you didnt want to eat there. Worth Checking out.

Everyone there was friendly and helpful. The hotel was not huge, so it seemed more intimate. The staff would look up and ... call me by name and most them remembered me from day to day. There was a lot to do and see in the area, but even if you decided not to leave the hotel the entertainment was great. They played games by the pool and put on shows in the evening. The bar had bands and a karoke night. My daughter got married on the beach and everything was handled stress-free. It was so beautiful. Some of the staff attended the wedding just because they had gotten to know us in the previous days. This was one of my best vacations ever!

1. Don't use the currency exchange booths at the US or Mexico airport. Exchange rate at the airport was 11.50 pesos per dollar. You can get 12.50 at the hotel main desk. 2. Check with the hotel before booking excursions on travel sites, many ALL-INCLUSIVE hotels offer FREE excursions. We stayed at Palace and they did and it was awesome! 3. Book ground transport ahead of time to avoid all the scams at the airport 4. After you get your bags walk straight OUTSIDE to ground transport. Avoid all those people that are standing before the exit and pretending to be of help they are SCAM artists trying to sell you tours the real transport people are OUTSIDE! 5. Beware! of the authentic Mayan items that our tour company (The Bus name was Tena and was a Green color) took us to. Although I admit the stuff at this Mayan artisan warehouse looked like nicer quality stuff than the junk they sell for $1 (Yes only a buck) at Chichen Itza and the selection was huge! However, the cost of the Obsedien statues are WAY OVERPRICED! We saw some medium figurines for $150-200 only to find the same one at one of our Palace Gift Shops for $50. Granted there was more choices and styles at the tourist trap. But we found one we liked at the gift shop. Glad we didn't buy it at the tourist trap first. I can't speak for the other stuff like the Silver, wooden masks or pottery.

Not much since weather was very bad. Only complaint that no one seem to know that there was a possibility of a hurricane. ... Otherwise, the staff, front desk and everyone very accommodating. I was impressed when the Front Desk associate explained us how to work the air conditioning, not to leave open the balcony doors. This is the first time I see this in Cancun, where no one seems to know that if you keep windows open, you don't get breeze, you get "mold". I live in Florida and we are very aware of this.

Great Relaxing Vacation

Brought my wife here for her Birthday, based on reviews. We arrived over three hours prior to check-in. [...] at the Front ... Desk did everything to expedite getting our room ready early. He even took us to see a few available rooms, so we could chose. We selected Room 632 with a nice large balcony and double cushioned lounge chair facing the ocean. We received $150 credit for Spa treatment, and used it for a great 50 minute Deep tissue massage and a scalp treatment. We also reserved a free trip to Tulum, which I would not recommend. The trip was an hour shorter than Chitzen Itsa (sp?), and the ruins were nice to see, but most of the trip was a tourist trap, with stops at vendors pressuring you buy souveniers. The restaurants were excellent, especially the outdoor grill facing the beach. We loved our Rib Eye Steaks. The entire staff went out of their way to accomodate our needs. The hotel was only 40% capacity, but we made alot of friends during our short three night stay. The beach is beautiful and well-maintained. If you want a quiet, relaxing hotel, with great amenities, then this is the hotel for you.

Palace is Paradise In Mexico - Book it!

I researched Cancun to death and in the end decided to book with Palace Resorts, Sun Palace and boy was I happy and excited ... that I did. Sun Palace and Palace Resorts were really top notch. We enjoyed everything about this trip and it was one of the most fun and memorable. Cancun, Mexico is very beautiful the water is clear (it's no Bora Bora and sure there are some annoying seaweed) and warm and the beaches are beautiful. Below are some tips and recommendations from our trip. 1. Hotel choice - Hotel Zone is like the Las Vegas strip. Mega resorts and hotels up and down the coast. There is so many to choose from. This was my first time in Cancun and at the Palace Resorts and I was really impressed. The buildings were all new, very well kept, clean and modern looking. Lots of glass and metal finish. You can tell they spend lots of money, time, and effort to keep the resorts spotless. We stayed at the Sun Palace which is on the southern most part of the strip. Smaller of the main Palace resorts but more intimate. Adults only. Great for couples and romance. You can also take the bus (super convenient, safe, clean 7.5 pesos) to any of the other Palace Resorts and use their amenities and eat at their restaurants for free. So why stay at "Hotel X" where you are stuck there, when if you stay at Palace you can go to ALL of their other hotels (we visited Beach, Cancun, Moon and Xpu-Ha and had a great time because each one had their own distinctive amenities). 2. Food choice - We struggled between All-Inclusive or NOT. In the future we definitely would do All-Inclusive again. Here's why. It's not just about the food. See point 1 above. Also for ~$500 more you get ALL meals included, including alcohol, including room service, all the restaurants at tour Palace Hotel AND the other Palace hotels as well, take out lunches to bring with you on your excursions or on your way to the airport. Entertainment (saw a very professional fire show and Michael Jackson impersonator troupe well done top notch one of the best I've seen) Palace Resort also threw in $150 spa/salon credit (there is no minimum, sure the massages are kinda pricey but my gf and I got haircuts and she got a mani/pedi, we could use all or none of the credit and they didn't force us to go over) and $150 in golf (covered green's fee and a gold cart at their pro 18-hole golf course for one person but that's ok because my gf doesn't play golf). And they offered FREE excursions. Chichen-Itza, Tulum, Isla Mujeres, Wet N' Wild waterpark admission all for FREE. The excursions are provided by an nice air-conditioned chartered bus. There is a bilingual tour guide. Your admission tickets are covered. There is a lunch either at a restaurant or at one of their other Palace Resorts (another perk of being a part of the Palace Resorts). They bring you back in time for dinner. Tulum was the best of what we took. Chichen Itza is a must see but such a beautiful relic has been ruined by all the cheesy commercialism and annoying peddlers. Beware of the Mayan tourist traps that these tour buses take you too. See my helpful hint below for details. If your priced all these extras separately you would be way over the extra price for the all-inclusive. These extras were offered by Palace Resorts so I can't comment on the value of the other All-Inclusive at the other resorts. I guess the only CON is that we didn't get to check out the Non-Hotel dining experience. But I think I'll live if I don't go to Senor Frog's, Pat O'Brien's, or Outback. 3. Food quality - The food was good BUT not great. Nothing really blew me away. But nothing was horrible either. I like the variety of a-la-carte vs. buffet vs. room service. But after 2 days you've tried all the restaurants and stuff gets old fast. So we went to Cancun and Sun Palace and tried their restaurants which really helped rounded out the palate. Best Resort Ever

We've traveled to multiple all-inclusive resorts and cruised, overall, this was the best vacation ever. The service was ... amazing, food excellent, room awesome, beach great, and I could go on and on. It was so relaxing but yet there was plenty available to do. We especially liked being able to walk the beach to the Cancun Palace and Beach palace. Then, for sixty cents you could take the bus back. The staff was amazing. We would recommend the conceirge upgrade for sure. Dinner on the beach was amazing, and the reserved cushioned chairs on the beach were a benefit. Also, the pools at the Sun palace were heated warmer than any other palace resort. We will be staying at the palace for our next vacation. Can't wait!

Beach was very expansive and had the most beautiful aquamarine color. Food and drink service was fantastic, especially in ... the pool and beach. We had the best view in room 624, and the balcony was huge and equipped with lounge beds and a sitting area. Food was great, especially loved the italian restaurant for dinner and the various breakfast buffets. Staff was very professional, friendly and accommodating. Had a massage at the spa with my spa credit and loved it. If you are thinking of booking this resort for a romantic trip - Go! You will not regret it.

We stayed for a week at the Sun Palace and enjoyed every second of it! We relaxed around the resort the whole time (didn't ... get a chance to try out the included tours). The beach was amazing (bigger and nicer than the other palace resorts from what I hear), the drinks were great, the staff was very friendly (no bad experiences at all), the entertainment was actually pretty good, the food was very very good and plentiful, and the water was great (Big waves the first half of the week, and then almost lake like the second half). Most if not all rooms are ocean view with a private balcony, which was beautiful. I would definitely go back to the sun palace....Again...and Again....

During this time of year they release baby sea turtles, ask the people at the front desk when they are releasing them. We met around 8pm and got to hold a couple and release them into the ocean. We loved holding those little guys...

Tours with guides that were incredible. Chitchen Itza is a MUST DO no matter how uninterested in it you may be. It goes ... from 7am-6pm, but includes an education, a buffet, and a sight that you will never forget! The spa was good if you're into try it. The staff are sweet and hard working! 24 hour room service with a great menu! The beach and pools are beautiful!We went during the 25th anniversary and got 25% off on top of the [...] $150 spa credit. There was a $150 golf credit, but we didn't use it. If you're on the fence, but can go before this year, you won't regret it. In addition to the credit the Chitchen Itza and a few other tours are included. The zip line was more fun than we thought and only took a few hours so it wasn't a day long commitment. The room was spotless, the mini bar full, the jacuzzi tub clean, the service awesome. We went to the Beach and Cancun Palaces as well. If you have kids go to the Cancun Palace. If you want to be closer to night clubs, go to the Beach Palace. If you want a great beach stay where we did at the Sun Palace!If we had to do it again, we would have skipped Wet n Wild, but then again, it was free and we took the free shuttle in and taxi cabbed back. Don't be afraid of the bus line. Skip Market 28. We fully took advantage of pre-ordered breakfast, the room service in general and the jacuzzi tub. The food everywhere was awesome and all of it safe to eat! The staff are friendly and even set up chairs for you on the beach and bring drinks to you! The service at the pool at Beach palace was the best, but the food and atmosphere at Sun Palace, better! We were especially lucky as baby turtles hatched when we were there and we got to release them back into the water! We missed out on snorkling this time, but that just gives us a reason to go back! Belive me we are!Tip please, they deserve it. Bring sun screen for the beach. Bug repellant for times in jungle-like areas! By the way, there is no casino at the Moon palace. Again TIP PLEASE!This was the best vacation we ever had!

Do an all inclusive. I know it may take business away from mom and pop shops, but in truth would you really eat at a mom and pop or a chain such as Senor Frog's or Bubba Gumps? The all inclusive saves money and time in the long run and the Palace resorts make it worth the decision. Just tip decently and let the staff/residents pump money into their economy as well.

It is one of the first resorts on the strip, so you get dropped off first if you take a shuttle with other people. After a long flight, it is nice to get where you are going sooner rather than later... The hotel is so clean and smells wonderful (not always the case in Mexico...) and they greet you with a flower, ice cold towel and champagne if you like. This is the beginning of service that you will not believe - everyone there is incredibly friendly, helpful and courteous! They pamper you the entire time you are there and are so attentive. The rooms are beautifully decorated and have gorgeous views of the ocean. The maid service is wonderful - they wash the floors everyday, which keeps the sandy mess under control and feels wonderful to walk around on. Everything looked, felt and smelled clean and fresh in our room every day. We did tip the maids every day because we were so impressed. We thought the food was outstanding, especially for an all-inclusive resort. We never ate at the Asian restaurant as we loved the others so much - I don't need much besides a steakhouse, Italian and Mexican for choices. The filet mignon dishes at both the Italian and Mexican restaurants were amazing. Not sure what some of the other reviewers were expecting, but we found the resort to have ample choices and excellent food. People from other Palace resorts visiting the Sun Palace for the day commented that our food was A LOT better than theirs, too. If the Steak restaurant is set up on the beach while you are there, definitely do it - it was very cool. The Fire and Drums show was great, and the kareoke night was 1000% better than I thought it would be, but that might depend on the visitors during any given week. There isn't tons of nightlife, but we were there to relax and rest, so we weren't disappointed. The spa is amazing, but expensive. We had significant credit for the spa, so I was able to get a couple treatments without spending out of pocket, and all were amazing, but probably wouldn't have done it w/o the credits. There is a pitch for the Palace Resort membership and they take you to the Moon Palace for breakfast and a sales pitch. In return, you get spa credit and travel agent credit. It was pretty painless, as timeshare presentations go, and with travel time, took 2 1/2 hours total. We did the 8am appt and were back at the Sun Palace with significant spa credit by 10:30am. Was not a hard core pitch and they respected our "no" the first time. We did have to stay the entire 90 minutes, but it was seriously painless and worth the massage I got out of it!!! We will definitely go back and really don't think we will visit another resort in Cancun b/c this one had all of the features we could ever want and I cannot imagine that another resort could top the Sun Palace!

When we first arrived, we were given first class service right from the start. We were greeted with cool hand towels, and a ... glass of champagne while we were checking in. The bell boy took our bags, and sent them up to our room. The beach was amazing, and the pool was amazing. The lounge seats by the pool were extremely comfortable. The room service was amazing. They never took too long, and the food was great. The hotel staff was very friendly, and upbeat. Although it was all-inclusive, we didn't mind leaving a $20 tip for dinner, and tipping each and every staff member we encountered.

Words can't describe how happy we were with our trip to Sun Palace. From the exceptional service to the cleanliness & ... contemporary decor, the amazing Junior Suite w/hot tub to the actvities, our expectations were definitely exceeded. Perfect for a honeymoon or couples retreat, the Sun Palace has a relaxed but fun atmosphere with really great guests and staff. You can be as social or as private as you want to be, but we had a blast playing beach volleyball, water polo, and hanging out at the activity pool. We enjoyed having excursions included as well and look forward to returning!

The best thing about Sun Palace is the staff. They are absolutely the nicest people on the planet! Anything you need, just ... ask. I recommend the snorkeling trip/Jungle Tour you can get across the street. It's quick and easy with a great location for snorkeling. Each couple gets their own little speed boat. Also recommend you go to Coco Bongo at the Plaza Forum. That is amazing, but it starts pretty late, like 10:30 to 3am, but trust me, you won't be disappointed, it's a one of a kind show. Also don't hesitate to use the bus service. It's cheap and easy and safe. We never had to wait longer than 3 mins to catch one, except at 3am coming out of Coco Bongo, but there were cabs all over the place begging to take you back for $5. The beach is awesome at the Sun Palace, no problem getting chairs and umbrellas. We always got 2 umbrellas because it was very hot. They also come by often to get your drink order. Some people say you get better service if you tip them. I think they would be good to you regardless. We always tipped because they really deserve it. It's very hot out there and they work really hard and always with a smile and a "hola." The only down side to this trip was the food. They had some good stuff, but just don't expect American style food. They eat differently in Mexico and it can be hard to get used to. You'll want to eat out at least once while you're there, we went to Hard Rock Cafe. On the up side, room service is great. We had breakfast brought to our room every morning.

Sun Palace is a great place to go and relax. The location is great. Only around a 10 min drive from the airport. The staff ... was very helpful. Anytime we had a request for something they don't usually do they did their best to comply. I would highly recommend Sun Palace and plan on returning in the future.

The resort offers activities everyday poolside. They are very fun and a great way to meet other couples that are enjoying their vacation as well. Talking to others at the resort was really the best way to learn the ins and outs of the resort plus the hotel staff running the activities are a lot of fun.

The hotel was immaculate. The service was the best ever. Everyone was friendly all the time. We were met in the lobby with ... flowers, champagne, and a frozen washcloth to refresh us. They wouln't even let us handle our own bags. I think our room was picked up twice in one day. You are not expected to tip, but the service is so good, I couldn't help it. The food was gourmet quality. If you stay at one Palace resort you have access to the others. We had dinner at the Cancun Palace even though our room was at the Sun Palace. This is part of the "all inclusive". The Palace resorts also owns the Wet and Wild water part, this is also included as part of the all inclusive. The hotel had enough activities to keep you busy, plus you are a 10 minute (and 65 cent) bus ride from the downtown action. We will return as soon as possible and we will never stay anywhere except a palace resort.

There is an oriental restuarant on the 1st floor..that is away from the other restaurants. We went there for appetizers (spring rolls) as someone suggested. Was very surprised that is was outside! Had no idea. We just had the appetizers so couldnt comment on the actual dinners..but it's a great atmosphere. Nearly empty and there is an outside bar that you could just sit at there if you didnt want to eat there. Worth Checking out.

1. Don't use the currency exchange booths at the US or Mexico airport. Exchange rate at the airport was 11.50 pesos per dollar. You can get 12.50 at the hotel main desk. 2. Check with the hotel before booking excursions on travel sites, many ALL-INCLUSIVE hotels offer FREE excursions. We stayed at Palace and they did and it was awesome! 3. Book ground transport ahead of time to avoid all the scams at the airport 4. After you get your bags walk straight OUTSIDE to ground transport. Avoid all those people that are standing before the exit and pretending to be of help they are SCAM artists trying to sell you tours the real transport people are OUTSIDE! 5. Beware! of the authentic Mayan items that our tour company (The Bus name was Tena and was a Green color) took us to. Although I admit the stuff at this Mayan artisan warehouse looked like nicer quality stuff than the junk they sell for $1 (Yes only a buck) at Chichen Itza and the selection was huge! However, the cost of the Obsedien statues are WAY OVERPRICED! We saw some medium figurines for $150-200 only to find the same one at one of our Palace Gift Shops for $50. Granted there was more choices and styles at the tourist trap. But we found one we liked at the gift shop. Glad we didn't buy it at the tourist trap first. I can't speak for the other stuff like the Silver, wooden masks or pottery.

During this time of year they release baby sea turtles, ask the people at the front desk when they are releasing them. We met around 8pm and got to hold a couple and release them into the ocean. We loved holding those little guys...

Do an all inclusive. I know it may take business away from mom and pop shops, but in truth would you really eat at a mom and pop or a chain such as Senor Frog's or Bubba Gumps? The all inclusive saves money and time in the long run and the Palace resorts make it worth the decision. Just tip decently and let the staff/residents pump money into their economy as well.

When you land at the airport, and need to get to the hotel, and you didn't include transportation, definately take a taxi, approx 25 USD compared to the scam artists, who see you coming, with a very official looking binder, showing you the comparable rates to what they charge, and then scam you for 60 USD. Our first mistake. We should have not felt like we "had" to take that transportation to the hotel. I would recommend including transportation in your booking.
