Rooms were clean-get in main tower though or you will have to walk a lot just to eat and be by main pool. Main pool area ... fills up fast. Get out there early to save chairs. Would have liked more food choices--with 5 kids the buffet was the best option for us. Bkfst was great--lunch was same choices every day so that got old quick. Dinner had several choices--some kind of funky!!! Entertainment was good at pool and the evening shows were good. Magic show was a waste of time though. Would recommend staying here. $$ good. Next time I would possibly stay closer to downtown area. Especially if it were just my husband and myself.

The hotel was quite nice. The food was good for about 3 days, and then it got old. I'm sure this would happen at any resort ... though. Definitely eat lunch at Bogavante. It was fantastic. The staff was absolutely fantastic. These guys work like 16 hours a day and you never seen them complain or even look tired. I would definitely go back here next Xmas...

Great deal for the money we paid!! We have an infant with us, and he enjoyed as well. Hotel stuff were friendly and helpful. ... It was the first time "all inclusive" trip and we were bit worry first, but it turned out it was such a good deal; there were always couple choices for restaurants. We will go back to that hotel for next trip and will recommend it to our friends too!

Hotel Room IS Questionable
Real Average Dec 18, 2009
We had to change room after the first night because the room had a moldy smell and the floor was wet from humidity. Our ... second room in the newer tower was alright. The beach always have red flags because the current is always very strong, we could not swim at the beach. The food was not bad. The cocktail drinks had minimal alcohol.

Not quite there
Sandy beach traveler Dec 15, 2009
There were lots of activities to take part in, and all of those that we did were great. This is not a great part of the ... beach for getting in the water. In one week, there was not one time we able to play in the waves. Very dissapointing. Not the hotels fault, safety first, but still not what we were able to do during our last visit further up the beach. Our room was COLD and not really controllable. It was not renovated as stated, but clean and well appointed. Our server Victor was awesome. Biggest deterrent for us was pressure from our concierge to sign up for this and that and sit through presentations. He actually came and found us in the bar for Senor Frog night, and felt like we had to sneak around to avoid him. Not what we paid for! Nothing was free to us for an agreement to sit through a sales presentation on Saturday morning when we booked. But overall, very relaxing and enjoyed it a lot!

Good Value!
Roy R. Dec 9, 2009
I stayed on the hotel grounds most of my week in Cancun. I had an ocean front room in the Royal Tower (the main ... building). The staff is very friendly...sincerely friendly whether you tip or not (I did). After a few days I knew several waiters and bartenders, and the service was absolutely outstanding. The food was good. The specialty restaurants, Veneto and Marco Polo, are nice...fancy by my standards. The Mexican restaurant, Rosmarinas, is also nice...open-air, "al fresco" dining, and it overlooks the ocean. Good food there I would say, but I don't have alot of experience with Mexican food. The buffet in Las Fuentes is generous and good...and never any waiting! The theme of the menu changed every night, with a core offering that stayed the same that had something for most peoples' taste. Rooms are fine for a couple and a kid, but I would not call the rooms "large." Good TV cable selection, but it helps to know a little Spanish so you can watch all the stations! The evening and poolside entertainment was OK, but sometimes distracting since I like things quiet! The bars are well-run, and the Royal Tower club is large and had live music in the evening. The beach is narrow due to damage inflicted by Hurricane Ida a short time ago...visible huge rocks just off the beach...not a good place to swim! But I liked the view anyway, with the surf crashing on the rocks. About the only feature I wished the hotel had was an outdoor lounging area with tables and umbrellas, that operated after 5pm, which is when the pool bars closed. An outdoor lounge overlooking the ocean would really round-out the hotel's features, I think. It was my second trip there, and I'll go back again, I'm sure.

The hotel was average. The rooms have no balcony so the seen is not good. Night shows are good, but the theatre is small. ... I got tired of eating breakfast at the same place every morning since its the only place that serves breakfast (las fuentes). The "night life" is about 20-25 minutes away on the bus since it seems like it stops every two minutes. The Grand solaris is better looking n better rooms than the royal (stayed in grand before). The pool area is nice, although I didn't spend much time there. The hotel is good for those who plan to do lost of sight seeing and pretty much just need a place to sleep.

This was our 2nd trip to Royal Solaris. 2 years ago, it was a great trip, and awesome hotel, but this time half the resort ... was closed for renovations, the only 2 spa's they have didn't work, only 2 out of 6 restaurants were opened. The food was the same as it was last time in the main restaurant. It was boring as far as we were concerned (meaning the food). We were called the first two mornings at 8:30 a.m., by the attraction reservationist trying to get us to book trips.

The service here was AMAZING! You are waited on hand and foot and the hotel will do ANYTHING to make sure that you have a ... great time. We came to this hotel pursuant to two friends recommendations. Ultimately, we stayed at both the Royal Solaris and the Grand Royal Solaris. Both are wonderful, but the building at the Grand Royal Solaris is newer. We will be returning next year!

bus stops just down the street from the hotel. At 7.5 pesos per trip to downtown, (which is about .40 cents) makes going out or shopping much cheaper than using a taxi.

If you like to bargain for your shopping. Masrket #28 is the place to go. I got top rated Cohiba cigars for $4 apiece. Ussually $25 at the local shops. You can bargain. However the shop owners are like sharks circling prey. They will sell you to death if you let them.

Coco Bongo was quite an experience for a nightclub atmosphere. I suggest going with the hotel entertainment group though because it will get you a VIP seat in the balcony instead of fighting the crowd on the floor.
