The hotel was average. The rooms have no balcony so the seen is not good. Night shows are good, but the theatre is small. ... I got tired of eating breakfast at the same place every morning since its the only place that serves breakfast (las fuentes). The "night life" is about 20-25 minutes away on the bus since it seems like it stops every two minutes. The Grand solaris is better looking n better rooms than the royal (stayed in grand before). The pool area is nice, although I didn't spend much time there. The hotel is good for those who plan to do lost of sight seeing and pretty much just need a place to sleep.

Not completely renovated!
joysgirl2 Nov 18, 2009
This was our 2nd trip to Royal Solaris. 2 years ago, it was a great trip, and awesome hotel, but this time half the resort ... was closed for renovations, the only 2 spa's they have didn't work, only 2 out of 6 restaurants were opened. The food was the same as it was last time in the main restaurant. It was boring as far as we were concerned (meaning the food). We were called the first two mornings at 8:30 a.m., by the attraction reservationist trying to get us to book trips.

The service here was AMAZING! You are waited on hand and foot and the hotel will do ANYTHING to make sure that you have a ... great time. We came to this hotel pursuant to two friends recommendations. Ultimately, we stayed at both the Royal Solaris and the Grand Royal Solaris. Both are wonderful, but the building at the Grand Royal Solaris is newer. We will be returning next year!

The food was average; filling, but nothing great. Hotel workers were very helpful with directions and places to go for good ... shopping prices. We had reserved a king size bed,but after one night on a double sized bed, we requested another room with a larger bed. The front desk accomodated us immediately. We had a good time hanging around the pool.

Less than satisfied
Sekemper Oct 13, 2009
We had an issue with the shuttle. No one at the airport could understand our voucher. 45 minutes later we were picked up ... and taken to the very pushy hotel staff that was interested in selling time share offers. We were then informed 3 of the resterants and a snack bar were closed. The first night on was so loud because we were one floor above the lounge and you could hear everything in the hall. The private jacuzzi was not private. Rooms next to us and rooms above could look in. The quality of food was less than satisfying and the options were disappointing. We chose this resort based on the information provided, but come to find out it was not as advertised. The beach was rough and not easy to walk on. We went to celebrate our anniversary and were quite diappointed. They did bring us a warm bottle of champagne so that was a bright spot. Too bad there was no ice on our floor to chill it, unless we called down to room service and paid $5 for the service fee.

Great Hotel for the price range!
Drew Oct 7, 2009
I stayed her for a couple of days to celebrate my birthday. The staff were very friendly and the place was definitely a ... bargain for the price. This was my first time getting an all-inclusive package at any hotel and I luvd it. The only thing that annoyed me was the fact that drinks, although unlimited, were always served in a really small cup, I hate going back and forth for refills every time I down a small cup of soda or beer for that matter. Other than that the place is definitely awesome!

It was our 22nd wedding anniversary and just wanted a quick (5 day) gettaway. We spent most of the time lounging by the pool ... enjoying the entertainment and drinks and also swimming in the fantastic ocean waves. We would highly reccomend anyone to visit Cancun in October. The weather was absolutely goergous and we were more than satisfied with the service, food and accomodations at the Royal Solaris.

bus stops just down the street from the hotel. At 7.5 pesos per trip to downtown, (which is about .40 cents) makes going out or shopping much cheaper than using a taxi.

If you like to bargain for your shopping. Masrket #28 is the place to go. I got top rated Cohiba cigars for $4 apiece. Ussually $25 at the local shops. You can bargain. However the shop owners are like sharks circling prey. They will sell you to death if you let them.

Coco Bongo was quite an experience for a nightclub atmosphere. I suggest going with the hotel entertainment group though because it will get you a VIP seat in the balcony instead of fighting the crowd on the floor.

TRAVELTIME: If you8 want fun: Travel in the high season! If you want relaxing vacation: Off season is the BEST. RUINS: Bargain! Don't accept any price offer. The vendors usually drop the price till 20%. Buy nice souveniers at the ruins NOT in the Cancun area: American Prices!!!

Shop at La Isla. Souvenirs are much more affordable. Quality t-shirts are 3 for 10 and sometimes 4 for 10. It's a short drive by bus which is less than $1 USD.
--Disappointed in Cancun, New Jersey Aug 31, 2009
Instead of getting a taxi or taking the hotel transportation we took an airport bus for $4USD to downtown Cancun. Then we took the R-1 bus to the hotel zone and got off across the street from our resort. It cost 1.5 pesos per person. It only cost $10 instead of $30 to get to our resort!
--havinhope, Illinois Aug 28, 2009
Most of the food in this hotel had a Mexican flair to it. Although the restaurants at night had more of a worldly selection, breakfast and lunch were more Mexican themed....and DELICIOUS. If you are more of a picky eater, you might not have as much selection. We loved all of the food and trying all of the varities of meat, fish, breads, deserts.
