due to tropical storm Alex the shoreline was covered with see weed. I don't feel that enough was done to clean the beaches. The staff were professional and the rooms were very clean.

Very, very nice hotel but food and bed needs improvement

Single female traveling alone Nov. 27th - Dec. 1st 2011 in Cancun and, had a very pleasant stay but the food is 'hit and miss' at the restaurants that require reservations, a bit a of drag to stand in line at 8:00 a.m. The hotel and rooms are impeccable but the bed is rock hard...liken to futon mattress comfort. The staff is fabulous! If you think the alcoholic drinks are a bit weak, just ask for a shot of "x" on the side. I will not be returning but did get my money's worth...

relaxing getaway

This hotel is very clean, and the staff were very helpful and nice enough to work with us to get 2 rooms side by side to be close to the rest of the girls I went with. This hotel has no 'non-smoking' restrictions, so smokers are everywhere around the pools, and seating areas on the beach. The food is best if you stick with salsas and chips. The rest of the food is hit or miss. The overall experience was this place is pretty good place for relaxing for few days and come back fresh.

Great deal; gorgeous resort!

The hotel is beautiful; the lobby view out to the ocean and swimming pool are breathtaking!! Unfortunately we had bad weather for 3 out of the 5 days, but the hotel staff did everything they could to make the guests enjoy their time; provided board games; set up a casino table, etc. They even showed a movie in the theater due to the heavy rain we had on Monday. The food is very good! I cannot say excellent because this is an All Inclusive resort and you are not going to get top of the line here; but it is very, very good. The buffet offers a huge variety of items, I think sometimes there is just so much that the guests mistake this for low quality. That is not the case here and this is my second visit at this resort. You do have to make the effort for the reservations at the specialty restaurants but now you can actually reserve up to two days out so no more of that daily requirement to go to the Lobby and remembering to make the reservations. Some of the cons at this hotel; small swimming pool which gets crowded with "towels"... yes, towels not people. There are folks that are very inconsiderate and day after day leave their towels on the chairs therefore "reserving" some of the best spots (non-stop whether they are there or not and they don't care). I saw chairs reserved for an entire day and nobody ever showed up; while this is on a "first come first served" basis! The beach has eroded a lot since my last visit in 2005 and there is very little of it now... also the hotel is big and casts a shadow on most of the beach as well as the pool. The main pool with a swim-up bar is the most popular, but also gets a lot of shade which makes it difficult to tan especially while all the good spots are already taken by those who leave their towels overnight!! The pool is rather small but the view once again is gorgeous! Overall, I love this resort; it is beautiful and has great service! You get a lot for your money and you won't be disappointed "IF" you can live with not getting so tanned!

An amazing adventure full of surprises

I really enjoyed the staff and friendliness..it was top notch and was able to enjoy myself even though my family left 2 days before I did. They invited you out and treated you like you were from there. The food was really amazing and well, drinks? they just kept on coming!

Rui Palace Las Americas

This was my 2nd trip to a Rui property with the Rui Cancun being the 1st a little over a month ago. So my experiences are recent. The Palace is very luxurious and the staff are friendly and cordial. What I didn't like about the staff is their questioning of me for being by myself. Also the air conditioning was erratic at times. The food was good but not great. There may be better resorts available in Cancun

Very nice, hotel and location.

The hotel is quite elegant and well kept, I enjoyed my stay very much. The two pools are excellently situated for maximum comfort while lounging or cooling off. The bar and wait staff are timely and attentive. The beach is very nice and allows for plenty of bathers to enjoy. The view of the water and beach is quite nice and the hotel is situated away from the loud and lively nightlife just enough to avoid the noise and congestion but close enough to partake in the fun. Just across the street from the hotel is a great bar called The Hog's Head which is a lot of fun and has a great staff that will help you better enjoy your stay in Cancun by steering you away from overpriced merchandise and providing you good information for appropriately priced goods and services. Be sure to stop by, you won't regret it. Overall the stay was very nice but like any other hotel be sure to make use of the safe for your valuables and definitely partake in the generous mini bar.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

The Hog's Head bar is just across the street from the hotel and is a good place for Mexican food and a cold beer. The staff is very helpful in steering you to fairly priced merchandise and services (i.e. scuba, fishing.) It is also a good time if you like a more laid back atmosphere than the thumping clubs just south of their location.

A Good Place But NOT Great

I am a business owner and was able to get away for four days and three nights by myself. This was my fourth time to Cancun. I would recommend this to a friend but I much prefer The Royal and will stay there next time I go as I feel it is the nicest all-inclusive resort. But, I just wanted to give this one a try. Overall, it was nice. Beach = 9/10 (no coral, no waves, crystal clear water...would give a 10 if it was a bit larger) Upkeep of Property = 10/10 cleaning service = 10/10 pool = 6/10 (too small and crowded) drinks = 6/10 (weak drinks served out of nasty plasic cups - yuck) food = 7/10 (it was good but far from great) service = 9/10 entertainment at resort = 5/10 (go out for this) Bar in Resort = 6/10 (it is small and pushed off to a corner section outside of the lobby...lacks people and socialization). Rooms = 7/10 (My back still hurts from those hard beds! Older "version" TV...not too modern looking but it was VERY clean)
