vacation with wife

Hotel was great. Staff was outstanding! Food was ok nothing to brag about. Would like to see better quality food in all areas. Italian was great, Japanese was pre made that mooring, and buffet food had a lot to offer but felt as if i ate less food as the days went on. Overall value is worth it. Great for anyone who wants to get away and enjoy drinks and sun.

good place

First time in cancun with my wife had a really good time, everything was as described. Only issue I had was the late nighters that's came back from clubs at 2am make noise and tend to scream in the hallways but overall experience was great

TIme for some sun

Our stay was enjoyable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Overall the hotel was clean. Need more outlets in the room. There were always lounge chairs available on the beach - any time of the day. The food was ok - good variety. I would stay here again.

sisters vacation

Mostly positive. The bed was a bit too firm and pillows also a little lumpy. New bedding would also brighten the room feel. The pools were great and activities staff awesome. All buffets were the best ever. The Mexican restaurant was awful but others were good. Drinks were delicious and real. There were helpful desk staff as well as borderline rude. The beach was small but that wasn't an issue for me. All in all a strong "4".

family vacation

Food was great better than most all inclusives. Staff worked hard to clean and cater to your every need. Beds are firm and the pillows need replaced. Bring coffee creamer for the room if u use it. Great minibar with top shelf liquor. Get your pool chairs early. Riu Hotels are always great.

great trip, wonderful resort

just returned from spring break trip- 4/4/14 to 4/11/14. Was a wonderful time, hotel is beautiful, beach and pools were outstanding, resturants and buffet were awesome(especially the breakfast) staff was eager to help and very eager to make the time there wonderful. All inclusive is def the way to go! One and only complaint would be the beds- they were not comfortable at all- if it was not for that experience would be a 10/10. i would recommed this trip, and resort to family and friends.

Family spring vacation

We had an excellent week at the Riu Palace Las Americas. The feature that stands out is the service. From the bars, to the restaurants, to the front desk and room service--it was excellent. We sometimes tipped, but not often. The staff provided excellent service with or without a tip. Abu in the hotel lobby bar was outstanding. The rooms were clean with excellent views (we had an ocean view Jr suite). They were not especially large, but adequate for a family of four. The only real downside was the small size of the beds for 4 people--somewhere between a single and double for 2 people. I hope that this is upgraded with the (apparent) planned renovation next year. The food was really good, but not superlative. It was interesting that the buffet's were as good, if not better, than the specialty restaurants. The food at the specialty restaurant "Kystal" was just weird--and not especially good. The Japanese specialty restaurant was excellent. There are lots of outdoor activities available for those interested. I sailed, played tennis (court needs an overhaul), played ping pong, volleyball, frisbee, kayaked, and swam. The fitness center is small, but clean and functional. If interested in wave runners, para-sailing, boating, fishing, etc…, these are available for an additional fee. There are lots of bars and pool activities. The access provided to all of the Riu resorts (3) is great and provided some variation.
