great dinner selections

Riu Palace Las Americas offers four restaurants to serve pleasurable dinners. They have quite a variety as well, Japanese, Spanish, Brazilian and Gourmet. Make sure you make reservations as soon as you arrive (between 12-5pm). If you are checking in late, just look for the dining coordinator of the hotel and make the reservations with her directly. She is usually present during the dinner buffet.

Very family friendly, also for fiends and couple

The Riu Palace las Americas was very comfortable, the room seemed much larger than most with a very nice view. I liked the swimming pool and the beach with this beutiful ocean. The location was very good, it was really only one long block to Downtown of Cancun and there were restaurants, nigth clubs and bar very close.

Great way to relax

This was a wonderful trip for me and my husband, we enjoyed the different foods available, the room service and how friendly the hotel personel were and their attitudes toward us. Most of the other people we saw at this hotel all looked happy. Of course we can't control the weather (it rained two day) but you can still go out and sightsee the city. We went by public bus, and it was fun so were the people of cancun. Only thing is watch out for the street guys trying to sell you a free dinner or trip its a scam.

Money-saving tip: In Hotel

Eat at hotel so when your out you don't have to look around for a restaurant, which can be a hit or miss sometimes. And if you can take a snack for the road. This gives you more time to enjoy your outing.

One of the Best in Cancun

I've been to Cancun three times now; I've stayed at the Riu Cancun two years ago, (and an Oasis chain in 2003), this is my first time staying at the Palace "level" of resort. After my experience there, it will be hard to stay anywhere else. The biggest difference I noticed was the level of service and care provided at this resort. Not to say the Riu Cancun wasn't good, but the Palace really goes the extra mile. The dining is phenomenal, 5 a la cart restaurants, which can be booked up to 2 days in advance, (Steakhouse, Japanese, Spanish, Brazilian and Fine Dining), and reservations can be made from 8a-9p, so you don't have to rush down at 7a and wait in line, (which I've had to do at the Riu Cancun and Riu Vallarta). At lunch the Brazilian place is turned into Italian, (pasta, pizzas, steak, chicken). If for some reason you're not eating dinner at one of the 5 a la carts, (and I don't know why you wouldn't), the buffet offers a different theme every night so the food doesn't get boring. Top it off with free room service, (thats right, free, 24/7), nightly turn-down service, an evening show, a nightly pianist (who is fantastic), awesome snorkeling right in front of the hotel, great pools, close proximity to malls, stores and restaurants, and well...I think I've made my point. If I'm ever in Cancun again, or rather, when I visit Cancun again, I will be staying at the Riu Palace Las Americas.

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

If you're looking for a great day activity, Xcaret is a fantastic spot. It's not hard to book, (this and many other tours can be booked by different agents right in the hotel). From the time you get there till you leave you've got over 12 hours in the park, some of the things to do: Underwater Cave Swim (a must), Aviary, Aquarium, Snorkel, Swim with Dolphins (extra charge, I've done it before, but not on this trip, it's worth doing if you've got the extra $$$), evening show (we added dinner with it, $35.00\person, well worth it, you'll also sit front row center for the show). With dinner it ran us $150.00 a person, but honestly worth every penny.

Fantastic getaway

We're a retired couple that like to travel. We were looking for an affordable mini-vacation. [...] We were very pleased with the Riu Palace Las Americas in Cancun. The hotel is not only impeccably maintained but the staff strives to make guest feel special and important. The rooms, lobby, pools and ground are beautiful. Like all-inclusives there is buffet dining, as well as, specialty restaurants. This is the best buffet we've had in any all-inclusive and the specialty restaurants are great. There were many families with children. At least three couples had weddings and receptions on the beautiful grounds. This is also the first all-inclusive that includes many water sports and in room mini bar, as welI as, liquor dispenser in the rooms. There is 24 hour room service included. I highly recommend the Riu Palace Las America. We would definitely return.
