Couldn't have been better

We chose this so for our honeymoon. It was wonderful. The only negative thing I have to say, don't go to their restaurant Krystal. It was pretty bad. Other than that, the staff was lovely, the view was lovely, the room was clean... It was great. The Buffett for breakfast, lunch and dinner had so many choices. Every morning they made fresh juice... Watermelon, mixed melon, pineapple, green juice... Super fresh and super yummy. Even the people we had as tour guides... Wonderful. We used grayline tours because it was a small group. We went to Chichen Itza and had Carlos Solias. He was great. I highly recommend this hotel, the catamaran tour to isla de mujeres and the tour to Chichen itza. The 2 1/2 hour drive is worth it. The food is worth it. It's all beautiful.

Never take the first offer. You have to haggle people. Not in the malls and outlets, but some Market vendors ... And if you go to Chichen itza- you can seriously talk them down. If you're on cancun- don't go to "mextreme" it's like chilis

Highly Recommended

This is a beautiful resort, with great rooms and wonderful food and beverages. The all-inclusive program is terrific, it is so nice not to worry about how much each meal is costing, etc. The staff is really nice, and the front desk staff were extremely helpful with any questions or needs. I hated to leave...

Bus ride is 8.5 pesos, ride downtown to get the best currency conversion rates. I recommend eating and shopping in Mercado 28 (Market 28), you'll get better deals out there than the hotel zone.

Great.

Riu Palace Las Americas is the best hotel in Cancun. The Spain creator - architect Mr Sancimez designed, 6 years ago, a real Grand Hotel similar to those in Cannes and Monte Carlo of the period between the two wars. In the lobby you take the atmosphere of the legacy. Very nice place.

Awesome hotel to stay at!

Great breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffets. Terrific fresh fruits and juices about, helpful and friendly staff. First experience at an all inclusive resort where food and alcoholic drinks (yes, even mixed drinks and cocktails) are all included. Beach is awesome with nice feeling sand, awesome room and pool views of the ocean and coast. Staff works well to provide entertainment at the pool and they even have nightly shows at 9:30pm. Also first time experiencing a bar built right in the pool! Highly recommended and will be back!

Dining tip: In Hotel

The hotel has 4 "specialty" restaurants (Japanese, Mexican, Steak, Fusion) for dinner you have to make reservations day in advance, and one can only make reservations for 2 restaurants at a time. The Italian restaurants is the only one reservations is not required. The ambiance is great and food is good. Only thing to watch out for is guy's dress attire is strictly enforced otherwise you have to redress and comeback (sleeved shirt and long pants for the restaurants requiring reservations). Ask me how I know :)

Nice Hotel

The RIU Palace was very nice hotel in appearance. It located right on the top of the strip, near where most of the actions are located (market, clubbing, dinning, shopping). The room was comfortable, the bed was a harder than what I used to. The bathroom was spacious. Although, the showering bathtub need to be a little larger and need lighting. The mini bar is stocked up with local liquors, beers, soft drink, and water. All you can drink!! There are 4 indoor restaurants and one outdoor. One of the indoor open most of the day for dinning (breakfast, lunch, and dinner). The other three specialty restaurants (Japanese, Brazilian, Seafood )only serve dinner with reservation. The foods served here is better than average and good in quality. It can use more variety, rather than mainly Mexican style dishes. The lounge and intertaiment area a spacious, as so the amount of drinks they offer. All you can drink!!! There are two pools here. The large one located right between the two wings of the building, the viewing is great, but building tend to block off the sun after 4 pm. The beach is kind of small but it is very clean and nice. With the RIU Palace wrist band you can eat and use the facility over its next door sister RIU Cancun. Any the hotel was very nice, and I dont' mind going back again.

Great Vacation

The food was great and there were many choices. Service was exceptional. The servers would never let your glass be empty. Top Shelf alcohol was available and there was even bottles of liquor and beer in the rooms (available at no extra cost). The beds were not the most comfortable in my opinion (they were hard) but the staff kept the rooms very clean. The pools were right on the beach front which was beautiful and there was a great entertained crew through out the day. They encouraged particiaption but did not bother you if you did not want to engage. There was always something to do if you wanted to, but it was a great vacation to relax too. Plus if you wanted to check out the other RIU hotels in the area you were able to. Overall, this was a great trip and I would recommended it to all

Simply awesome!

This was our first all-inclusive trip as well as our first trip to Mexico and the Riu Palace and Cancun were both spectacular. We hardly left the resort, there was simply no need. It was a wonderful week of rest and relaxation. All the staff at the Riu Palace were extremely courteous, most everyone spoke English and catered to every need. When we did decide to venture out into Cancun, they gave us all the information we needed to get around and back. The only little picky thing I can get on to them about is the beds were a little hard, 3-4 nights and it may not have been a big deal but after a week it was a tad uncomfortable. Other than that, everything was spectacular. The buffets were good and the theme restaurants were good too. The bar staff was awesome and constantly had drinks ready. In all awesome trip. Be sure to take plenty of ones to tip the staff. They are very kind, hard working and appreciative of it. Tell [...] at bar Cun hello and have the time of your life!As far as getting money changed, we used dollars the entire week until we went in to town, then we converted to pesos. The shops in the hotel and in the area will have a bit of a fluctuating rate so if you feel better about just working with pesos then change your dollars. Either way it's not a big deal, you're not losing much since someone has to get paid to convert the money at one end or the other.

On your exit from your airport after you have walked out and cleared customs do not stop for the time share folks waiting to ambush you. Just walk past them, don't listen to a word they say or even hint at stopping or listening to them. They will try everything in the world to get you to stop including telling you they have your shuttle information and will get you with your ride. Again don't believe them. They are rude and will just hold you up on your trip. Just walk outside and get with your ride and go have fun :)
