My review of Riu Palace Las Americas - All Inclusive
This was the best vacation we have ever spent as a family. We took our 1 year old son with us and were a bit concerned about the trip before we went. We couldn't have had a better outcome with a 1 year old. The staff was great. Everyone loved our son. The hotel grounds were beautiful and kept very clean. Food was very good as well. I really don't know what else to say, other then we loved it and will definitely be back. There are only 3 drawbacks to the place 1) the mattresses are very hard 2) the ac in the room doesn't get super cold. For most people, this is ok but I like a very cold room 3) the workout facility needs a few more pieces of equipment and free weights. Other then that, it is paradise. Very close to shopping as well.

unexpectedly surprised
I was apprehensive prior to our arrival as it is my first experience with an all inclusive and with the RIU brand hotel. Upon arrival to departure I was pleasantly surprised with the whole stay at RIU Palace Las Americas. The Staff was professional, courteous and polite. The staff always made every effort to cater to our needs and request. The Entire food service staff, from the hotel specialty restaurant reservation rep, room service attendants, food servers Especially the bar attendants, they made the stay more enjoyable. The hotel property itself was walking distance to a lot of shopping and nightlife. The hotel grounds and set-up was great, one of the nicest in all of cancun hotels and resorts. Food was in great abundance. I was pleasantly surprised for the high quality of food at the buffet, specially the specialty restaurants. Only complaint I had was the non-motorized activity department. The staff was not friendly at all, although they would look at you and see you have been standing there for some time, the guest would have to almost insist on getting some attention. They would close 1 hour prior to listed operating hours.

wonderful
The Riu Palace Las Americas was wonderful! The staff was great, rooms clean, grounds were well kept, food and drink plentiful and very good. The only negative was there is not shade on the beach. We did stay on the patio above the beach area which did work out very well. We overlooked the sand and sea yet didn't have sand on our feet and in our bathing suits. We had shade from both palm trees and umbrellas. All in all, we would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone.

Shopping tip:
Short walk from hotel
There is a small mall right across the street but you really don't see it. Ask at the front desk. We also took a bus to the mall about 10 minutes south, it was great, both the mall and the ride.

Fabulous
The RIU Palace is a fantastic hotel. My wife and I both enjoyed our stay. The senior suite was impeccable, with a seperate sitting area containing the bar and mini fridge and a small sunken living room leading to the balcony for a breathtaking ocean view. Marble tiled floors, huge bed, walk in closet and seperate shower and bath.Staff is friendly and eager to please, with outstanding service and good food. We will definitely go back.

Great vacation, awesome value
this was out first time to Cancun, and at an all-inclusive resort. RIU Palace Las Americas was so much more beautiful than I could have ever imagined! The staff was the most eager, happy and helpful that I've ever seen. The property itself is stunning, and the food is great. We went the 2nd week of September, so there were not many children or college kids, so it was great. The RIU Palace Las Americas has the best location in Cacun, walking distance to almost everything. We will be back next year for sure!

Nightlife tip:
Short walk from hotel
There are several major nightclubs in walking distance...we tried The City and Coco-Bongo, both were awesome. We went in a large group from the hotel led by one of the hotel Animation staff. They set you up with a VIP table and open bar all night for about $40-$60 per person (well worth it...you're on vacation after all)

Nice for couples and families
This was our first visit to Cancun and we stayed in a beautiful Jr. Suite. Our last night there there were obnoxious teens at 2-3AM banging on doors etc, which we expected a bit giving it was spring break. I can sleep on concrete, so the reviews regarding the hard beds didn't scare me off, but I must admit I was sore after sleeping on them. The major downfall to the beautiful rooms are the hard beds and the humidity build up in the bathrooms b/c there is no fan.
