Great Hotel

The Riu was an excellent choice for us. Everything we needed for a fabulous vacation was in one place. We hardly left the hotel because everything we needed was available to us. Everything from the pool, to the entertainment to the decor was excellent. We had a wonderful time and would recomend this hotel to all our friends and family!

Great First Time Visit for Cancun

This hotel was the perfect place to take your first to Cancun, Mexico. You could stay there the entire time and still feel like you have the greatest vacation! Very friendly staff who were happy to speak English. All of the food and beverages were readily available at all times. Second servings were not a problem. Great 'adult' beverages were included. Plus, room service was available, granted it was a limited menu but it was def handy!

Simply awesome!

This was our first all-inclusive trip as well as our first trip to Mexico and the Riu Palace and Cancun were both spectacular. We hardly left the resort, there was simply no need. It was a wonderful week of rest and relaxation. All the staff at the Riu Palace were extremely courteous, most everyone spoke English and catered to every need. When we did decide to venture out into Cancun, they gave us all the information we needed to get around and back. The only little picky thing I can get on to them about is the beds were a little hard, 3-4 nights and it may not have been a big deal but after a week it was a tad uncomfortable. Other than that, everything was spectacular. The buffets were good and the theme restaurants were good too. The bar staff was awesome and constantly had drinks ready. In all awesome trip. Be sure to take plenty of ones to tip the staff. They are very kind, hard working and appreciative of it. Tell [...] at bar Cun hello and have the time of your life!As far as getting money changed, we used dollars the entire week until we went in to town, then we converted to pesos. The shops in the hotel and in the area will have a bit of a fluctuating rate so if you feel better about just working with pesos then change your dollars. Either way it's not a big deal, you're not losing much since someone has to get paid to convert the money at one end or the other.

Time-saving tip: Not Applicable

On your exit from your airport after you have walked out and cleared customs do not stop for the time share folks waiting to ambush you. Just walk past them, don't listen to a word they say or even hint at stopping or listening to them. They will try everything in the world to get you to stop including telling you they have your shuttle information and will get you with your ride. Again don't believe them. They are rude and will just hold you up on your trip. Just walk outside and get with your ride and go have fun :)

Excellent hotel!!

This was our 2nd year in a row staying at RIU Palace Las Americas and our 2nd year in Cancun. Its hard to go anywhere else after the great experience here. Staff is wonderful everywhere from the front desk, housekeeping, bartenders, waiters, all restaurant staff.Hotel is very fancy, all restaurants were very good and buffets are great.Make sure to book reservations for your dinners asap because they book up fast. we stayed 7 days so we were able to go to all 5 restaurants but others couldnt get into them for a few days. Pools are nice, hard to get a chair unless you go out and put your towel out very early in the morning. The shows at night are pretty entertaining. The weather was nice. The last few days of our trip were cloudy and 70's and quite windy but first few days were hot and sunny. This hotel is close to all the downtown stuff like the malls, markets, bars. Its in a great location. And you can use RIU cancun facility next door also which has nice pools and some fun bars too. We loved RIU Palace. It's definitely the only way to go.Great price, great staff, great food, always something to do there, and the atmosphere is great.

A fantastic honeymoon destination!

This resort was recommended by friends-who ended up joining us on the trip, along with 2 other couples! It was a blast!! Especially with friends to hang out and party with, but still plenty of honeymoon privacy. We will definitely recommend RIU Palace and will most definitely return!!!

Great Vacation

This was our third visit at a Riu Palace and the first time we stayed at this particular Riu Palace in Cancun. We usually vacation twice a year and go on many cruises. However sometimes we enjoy just laying back and totally relaxing and thats what we did here!! The resort is absolutely beautiful. Both pools afford an unbelievable view of the Ocean. In fact from the rear entrance it looks like the pools overhang the Ocean. Our biggest decision was pool or beach! The staff was extremely attentive. In fact the first day our lock was broken and fixed immediately. The second day it was the air conditioner..could not be adjusted and it was very cold in the room But as soon as we brought it to their attention, it was fixed. There are several specialty restaurant and we had no problem eating in those we wanted to - the steak house twice (yummy) and the Japanese restaurant, which was surprisingly very good. I would recommend on eating in these restaurant since the buffet could get tiring. However breakfast and lunch was always very good with many many choices! The rooms are huge and we had a big balcony looking out over the Ocean. The mini bar was always stocked and the room was kept clean. The location is excellent too. A quick bus ride to the piers for excursions or a short walk to the flea market and clubs. There is a shopping mall across the street and a Rui Hotel right next door that you can use the facilities. On the beach between the hotels is an area to rent water sports.. We would definitely go back to this hotel.
