Really nice vacation

Would recommend Sat, Feb 6, 2016
The RIU Palace was a very nice hotel and vacation. My friend and I really enjoyed our week. We spent most of our time on the beach and at the Italian Restaurant. The manager of the restaurant could not have been nicer. We became friends with him and noticed how well he manages the restaurant.

Overall Great Trip

Would recommend Fri, Jan 22, 2016
Room: Roomy, clean, huge shower, separate toilet, jacuzzi tub. Beds hard/not comfortable. View from 15th floor Spectacular. Highlight of hotel for us. Check in: Easy, friendly staff. Readily put us at higher room at our request (but we prebooked ocean view balcony room) Decor: Very modern. it was cool, but i prefer a more Caribeean feel when I'm in the tropics. Resort: Clean, nice pools, restaurants centrally located, easy to find. Several pools Beach front, turquoise waters. Use the beach to the LEFT (easily accessible from pool area) the one in front is very rocky and not a lot of space to lay out. To left spacious, white soft sand. A LOT of activities by pool. too much for my liking, but my niece preferred pool to beach. Stay away from section with DJ box if you don't want to be constantly asked to play games, do exercise classes etc. Don't get me wrong, the staff is GREAT, so is service. They are just doing their jobs. i just personally prefer a little more quiet. Food: This is where I felt lacking. It wasn't awful, it just wasn't good. Sort of just there. I ate because I was hungry, not because I enjoyed it. Lots of options, but none looked overly fresh, oddly enough even when you saw them cooking it. Even the fruit tasted like local shop rite, not the typical delicious tropical fruit NOTHING special about the speciality restaurants. We nixed our steak house reservations after at least 3 people that day told us it was horrible (and also not a restaurant It's a little section of the buffet blocked off. Reservation process ANNOYING. Only can make at certain time and two days ahead. And have to wait in line while others book tours, etc. Buffet plentiful but again not all that great or fresh. I would not come back here unless somebody else booked and said Hey we're going to cancun, wanna come? ....due to the food. Spa. Lucia gave a great hot stone. However, facility lacking in my opinion for a resort of this level and the prices. Neice almost scalded her foot in steam room because the steam was created by a pipe with boiling hot water periodically pouring onto the tile floor. If your foot is there, you're screwed. Hot tub needed scimming and was not really hot. No robes, slippers, etc in locker room. we even had to go get our own towels, after asking for some, in the hospitality room next to spa. we had to ask for locker keys too. AND since it was my neice's first massage, I ordered a couples. I went tot he restroom , came out and she was gone. They put us in separate rooms...how is this a couples massage? Wifi: Free, supposedly available throughout resort but it SUCKED We had to reset at least 15 x over 5 days I had unlimited data plan so just used data, but my niece needed wifi not to get charged and it was nearly impossible to stay connected. Aside from the food and spa lacking, the resort is nice, rooms are nice, view is incredible, staff is terrific. I think it's a good value for the money, but next time I'm back to Royal where amenities are a step above and food is 5.

Cancun Trip- November 2015

Would recommend Fri, Dec 11, 2015
The Riu Penninsula Palace is a very beautiful place to stay and many great amenities! The staff is just wonderful always smiling and willing to help! First, Just a few things that can be made better such as more selection for vegetarians! This place is all inclusive but if you are a vegetarian be ready to eat the same thing over and over for your entire stay until you go to the waiters and ask them to personally make you something and this won't occur at the budget restaurants! Second please allow free local calls at your resort especially to tourists....there is a charge for local and long distance calls! I didn't bring my cell phone and well I was handicapped to make calls thank gold I had my iPad with me! Third your internet connection is worst than dial up! Yea the provide free coverage in the rooms but very lagging! Put besides that my wife and I stayed in the villas adult only section and we had a great time and relaxed from our busy lives back home great place to just get away and relax and all the drinks are inclusive so have a blast!

Very happy I'm planning to go back next year. Love the staff, the food, the room... Love everything. The only thing i didnt like was the bus transportation R1 they overcharged me cause i paid in usa dollars and the change was in mx pesos ( they gave me less ) plus the transportation was supposed to leave me in the place i told them and they just leave me 4 kilometers after the place i needed to go. But the rest was excellent.

The resort is beautiful. This was our second stay at this resort. Unfortunately this stay was not up to par. The staff wasn't helpful which was difficult with a baby. The food was TERRIBLE this stay. We stayed at the RIU Palace in Cabo 3 months ago and the food wasn't even comparable. We stay at all inclusive resorts frequently and bad food can ruin a trip. I would not recommend this resort until the food has improved.

Fun in the sun

Would recommend Tue, Nov 24, 2015
We stayed 6 nights (Nov. 2015) at this resort. They have drinks waiting upon arrival and checking in was a breeze. We are a couple in our early 30's with no children. The shows in the evening were entertaining the nights we went. One night was a Mariachi another night had crowd participation and Saturday night was a beach party with a fire show. We ate at the steakhouse, Italian and Mexican specialty restaurants all of which were good and you don't need a reservation for the Italian. We thought the buffet food was very good. The entire staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We tried to show our appreciation by tipping a couple dollars at each meal and leaving money for the cleaning staff. The rooms are different but not bad. Our room had 2 beds the bathtub and two sinks all out in the open and only the toilet behind a door. It wasn't really an issue though. The room was clean and it came with a nice size balcony. Would definitely stay at this resort again.

Great honeymoon

Would recommend Wed, Nov 18, 2015
Great experience. Hotel and room was always clean. Friendly staff. Food could be better. Bed and pillows need to be more comfortable for a 5 star hotel. Location was further away from restaurants and bars, which I didnt mind. City bus came often. The beach was never too crowded during Iur stay in early November. The weather was perfect as well. Just a few clouds with rain in the morning. There were some families with children there as well. I would recommend Riu Peninsula.
