[...] The hotel was sold as an all inclusive, which when we got to the front desk, they told us it was not. So, we ended up ... paying cash for our meals and drinks. The staff really did nothing to accomodate us, and told us for 190.00 for both of us each day, they could upgrade us to all inclusive. We didnt. And it is a good thing, for even with the all inclusive package, there fine dining restauraunt (called Davinci, has a small print stating all inclusive guests pay $30 each or 40 EURO per person. So...its really a sham, the food in the main cafeteria, is lousy American food and no authentic Mexican Food at all. Other than the steep hill climb up and down to get to the front door, cheap liquor drinks at 7.50 each, slamming doors every 5 minutes from drunk college students and budget lunch meat for buffet - the place is not bad. The only thing worse than the accomodations, was a mangerial staff that was clueless, useless and not accomodating at all.

I loved the stay at the Omni Cancun. The staff was super friendly and the view was breathtaking. I recommend spending that ... little extra on the all-inclusive and the ocean-view. With everything we drank and ate it was well worth it. Everywhere you were in the hotel there was someone there to help you with any information or serve you drinks. It was relaxing, breathtaking, and a royal experience. We are already making plans to return.

The staff at the hotel were fantastic. Very friendly and helpful. Hotel and rooms were very clean and the food at the ... restaurants was very good. The only complaint I had was that the hotel room (Lagoon Side) was noisy from exterior noise, ie: hotel coolers, water treatment plant, bar music. We also took a couple of trips with Grey Line tours, they were all great tours. Had one glitch with one of the tours on pickup but Grey Line corrected the problem. Also used Grey Line for shuttle to and from the airport. Pick up from the airport was good put the return trip to the airport was not. The shuttle showed up 20 minutes late for pick up because the first passengers were late, thus putting the shuttle off schedule. Not entirely Grey Lines fault but they should have a policy in effect that limits the time they wait for passengers. In Grey Lines defense I informed the driver that we needed to get to the airport for our flight and he contacted the main office and they agreed to make other arrangements for the last pick up and took us straight to the airport, so we could make our flight home. Last note I would highly recommend the Chichen Itza and Selvatica Zip-line tours. Both were excellent tours.

The hotel staff were friendly and generous, the food was fairly good and the staff accomodate and went out of their way to ... satisfy you. The show and dancers on Monday night was very good, probably, one more show will be better. The Caracol Travel were wonderful transporting us to the airport on time and their Travel Rep Mara Campa was genuine and stood behind her word with her pleasant personality. I recommend her very highly. The Di Vincie Restaurant was excellent with delicious food and wonderful staff : [...] were good help in selecting appetizers . The outside beach service staff were wonderful and very friendly. One negative, the beach is not recommended for swiming because of the many rocks.

CANCUN IS AMAZING! It's the 7th time I visit and I can't get enough of this beautiful vacation spot! Overall the Omni is ... good, yet it lacks in so many ways. The hotel is spotless, the rooms were good and the service is FANTASTIC! Now here's the bad part: it's obvious the beach hasn't been repaired after the hurricane, in fact, it's almost non-existant. There are too many big rocks on the beach that make for a dangerous swim. If you love the beach and the ocean itself, then this isn't where you want to stay. If you spend most your time in or by the pool, then go for it! Oh...if you have difficulty walking long distances or climbing stairs, then this is NOT the hotel for you. There is a long walk from the street to the property and a steep walk up to the hotel lobby (there are no elevators to take you to the lobby). Then there are stairs to go down to the pool/restaurant area - again, there isn't an elevator or ramp to take you there. Very expensive food, don't eat or drink there - it's best to visit one of the many great restaurants in Cancun (or look into all inclusive). When the staff tries hitting you up for a talk/tour of the hotel (it's a sell, sell, sell talk), tell them you've done it before and aren't interested, they should leave you alone after that.

Our stay at Omni was great! After the horrible experience with all the timeshare sales people at the Cancun airport arriving ... at the Omni was a relief. Their staff is very friendly and helpful. They are always trying to make you feel at home. We didn't get the all-inclusive plan because we don't like to spend a lot of time in the hotel. We did a lot of sightseeing (Tulum, Xel-Ha, Xcaret, Chichen Itza, Isla Mujeres, Playa del Carmen and Cozumel.) So, we were only able to enjoy the pools one day. All 3 pools were very clean and family-friendly. We also had breakfast at La Paloma. They have a really good Mexican breakfast buffet, but it is expensive like everything in Cancun. Also, I really recommend that you go to Chichen Itza and Xcaret because they are beautiful places. Don't forget to stay for the night show in Xcaret!

With all the hotels along the strip part of me wanted to try another resort on my first trip back to Cancun in 20 years. But ... the other part remembered how friendly the staff had been and what a wonderful trip that was. Well, the second part won out. Now married I returned with my wife to find that this hasn't changed. Yes, the beach is about half as wide as it was before hurricane Wilma(see pre Wilma photos on hotel website) but they still keep what's left looking good. Just imagine a narrower beach and the photos are still representative of how the hotel looks. I still feel it's the best designed pool area of the all the hotels on this end of the strip down to Club Med and that was another major draw. But in the end it was the customer service that brought me back. With the beautiful Carribean sea as the common backdrop of all these hotels, it's the friendly faces and good times that make all the difference. I hope the hotel manager shares these reviews with the employees because if wasn't for them I'm sure I would have chosen another resort this time around. And it's probably what will bring me back next time as I'm sure it has many others over the years.

We have enjoyed the Omni Hotel for several years, and part of the reason we have continued to return is because of their ... excellent staff. Unfortunately, one of our favorites that always took such good care of us, is no longer there, but other staff were very helpful. We had a few maintenance problems with our room, but they took care of the problems in a very timely manner. However, we did have a "sewer" smell from our bathroom sink that caused us to have to close the drain all the time because of the odor, but it was still okay - we just couldn't make ourselves call the 3rd time for service since we were only there for 4 nights!! But otherwise it was very enjoyable!

The hotel is very nice and is in a great location. The service and staff were also excellent. Great swimming pools, ... beautiful beach, nice view. The only thing I did not like was the hotel floor is of marble and thus did not absorb noise well. I could hear the noisy guests outside of the room, other guests moving furniture, and music from restaurant way across the street. These noise made it hard for me to sleep well.

If you are on a budget, search for the Sanborn's and VIPs restaurants near the downtown area (take the local buses for just about 50 cents per person and a fun ride). These are great places to eat with food just as good as the most expensive places around but at a modest price and quality!

--Vacation Planner, Houston, Tx Jul 22, 2009
It is definitely worth it to pay for the all-inclusive package. Food otherwise is more expensive then one would think. A plus for this hotel is the quality of the food, much higher than others and I believe that is because its not entirely all-inclusive. So you get truely restaurant quality food and great service! And one thing that we really liked i that there is 24hour room service that is included in all-inclusive something we didnt have a more expensive resorts

--Claude, Wichita, KS Jul 8, 2009
If you also purchase one of the activities through Orbitz there is a tour guide who meets with you to arrange the details when you arrive. He is also very helpful in showing you what other trips and activities are available. This is nice because it seems that every one else that you turn to for advice wants to offer you a time share also.
--Bobby, Salt Lake City, UT Jun 30, 2009
Shop within Hotel Zone do not go downtown and expect cheaper prices. Avoid Market28 thinking this is where the locals buy. Too many shops selling the same things, Not worth the effort or trip. Shop owners are on you like flies to "sugar, honey, ice tea". Always pushing you to buy, not a relaxing experience. Things can be had for less or a little a more w/o the hassle.
