Lacking in many ways

While marketed as the only LGBT welcoming property, we saw only a few other gay travelers. The hotel staff was luckily indifferent about gay/straight couples however. But this is not the LGBT resort they are trying to market themselves as. The A/C was a serious problem. My room was cold, but 3 other rooms in my group had unacceptable temperatures. 2 rooms just dealt with it, 1 room had to request maintenance multiple times and still got no fix. After repeated complaints and finally demanding to speak to a manager, they were switched rooms. The Sunset bar upstairs is so hot it is almost unbearable. They need at least have some fans set up or some ventilation installed since it is the only relaxing nighttime option at times. The fitness center was out of order for the week and could not be used. The hours of the bars and the restaurants are too limiting, especially considering you have no other options. Only 1 option for breakfast hours and not enough servers available. Sundays & Mondays have almost no dining options. Lobby bar closes at 10pm. All outdoor/pool options for food / bar close by 5pm. The food quality was OK, but not impressive at any of the restaurants. The upcharge for Benazuza was definitely NOT worth the money. There was an occasional employee (Francisco at the door, and Ricardo at the Sunset) that excelled at customer service. But the vast majority of the employees gave subpar or superficial service. And there were employees EVERYWHERE. Way overstaffed yet under served as a whole. Quality not quantity. The bartender at the swim-up bar showed very questionable judgement. He let a drunk lady climb over the bar to mess with the music system. (or try to) After 15 minutes of communication breakdown and confusion, he finally got her back out of the bar, but only after she broke the radio altogether. During all this he ignored a growing crowd of customers. Completely unacceptable. Prepare to be bombarded with "deals" "offers" and "gifts" by an assortment of individuals. It is not clear who works for the hotel and who is scamming on property. It is best to avoid all these interactions from our experience. The "gifts" are not worth the time and the hassle (or price) if you engage. The hotel is located at the far south end of the Hotel Zone. This makes it closer to the airport (good) but very inconvenient to get to other areas of the hotel zone or downtown/Cancun Centro (bad) In fact many cab drivers downtown either would not pick us up or did not know how far down our hotel was. (he tried to drop us off at 3 earlier properties)

Entertainment tip: In Hotel

Find a bartender you can trust to make any mixed drinks beyond the very simple. Otherwise you will most likely not get what you ordered or a very off variation of it.

Oases Sens

The food was so so, but they poured good drinks. The shows were great and we really enjoyed them. The pool and beach was beautiful, which is why we went. Was excellent having no kids around, left mine at home. People were very friendly and I would go back again. Beware, it is a little warm in the restaurants and the lobby and bars. But it is Mexico after all.

Indifferent staff and awful rooms

The hotel is listed as being handicap accessible but there isn't a single handicap shower or bathroom on the property. Of the nine restaurants only two were accessible without stairs and they required entrance through kitchens and staff only areas. We paid for a deluxe suite but the air conditioning didn't work and after a few hours began leaking so we had a mini waterfall in our outer bathroom (with marble floors so that was scary). The next night we were moved into a smaller room with functioning air conditioning (but not a room at the level we were paying for) until they could secure us a suite with air. On the third night we had a tolerable room although it still didn't have full air conditioning. We were never apologized to for these inconveniences nor were we credited for them in any fashion. One of the managers was extremely rude about both situations. I will never stay at that resort again.

Just don't

Let's start with on arrival, there weren't reservations. I am not sure who lost them. After an hour and a half we were able to check in to an ocean view room, we had paid extra for the VIP room with pool. Eventually they found our reservation( even though we brought all of the paperwork). We were able to get our paid for room a day late without a refund for staying in cheaper room the first night. The pool on our deck had what looked like sand on the bottom until you got in, brown stuff floating everywhere! The food was ok, drinks watered down. The best thing was the weather and the beautifull beach. The worst, I realized when I got home that I have bed bug bites all over my thighs and rear! Looks great with my tan lines.

the hotel was clean but outdated.there were too many stairs.very time together aroundall the restaurants are down a couple flight of stairs with no elevator .the air conditioning is very poor.Desktop was not helpfulthe concierge was helpful.the room service is terribletakes a couple hours to get room service.after 2 hours they still never brought the luggage to the room.I only had to go down to the front and get it myself. Was left on the front step of the hotel. Very disappointed and the hotel but the only thing good was the beach. I definitely would look for somewhere else to stay

OVERBOOKED!!!!!!!!! DO NOT BOOK IT!

I just wish I had paid heed to all the reviews before booking this hotel, and now I hope others do so here I am writing about my unpleasant experience with this hotel. Same story I guess...I reach there at 3 pm to find out that the hotel is OVERBOOKED! It looked like the front desk had the whole spiel ready as they have been giving it for years! "the hotel is overbooked, I see your reservation and that you booked 3 MONTHS in advance and tried calling but there are no rooms...you can tell travel agency (the one I am writing this review in) about it but we don't have any connection with the central reservation agency" ..after back n forth tirades...they give me a form to VOLUNTARILY sign if I don't want to sleep on the street in this foreign country with the language I don't speak...stating that I will be sent to total downgraded hotel (not adults only/LGBT friendly..horrible food/hospitality) and will not demand any further compensation. But aside from that...Cancun is gorgeous...I highly recommend it and hope you can avoid booking this chain of hotels!!!! If not, then just be mentally prepared to experience this for yourself. P.S the sunset cruise ended up being a Moonlight time-share/advertisement cruise as they were too busy collecting $5 "HIDDEN" docking fees for the "FREE" sunset cruise.

frustrating experience

Lront desk after checking in left the luggage out on my front curb 2 hours after we gave them the ticket and ended up getting it ourselves.good restaurants were poor.the pool bar service was born only bar open bust down by the beach which was a long trip because lots of stairs.if you are middle-aged there is way too many stairs and way too exhausting to get around. the facility is extremely outdated and not worth the value .

Good value

This adult only facility had very few spring breakers and had more mature couples or mature young people. This made the experience very relaxing. There are people having fun and drinking around the swim up bar and most other areas were quiet with people enjoying the sun and lounge chairs. Most food was average with a couple of exceptional reservation restaurants that are a must if staying there.

Average

You pay for what you get! This was a very average hotel. The room A/C did not work well. They need hall monitors to keep the late night noise down. The amenities are nice and choices of food offered a good variety and tasty food. The wait staff is great, the front desk staff left something to be desired. They respond pretty promptly to requests but to stuff that should not need to be requested in the first place. They need some type of food service after 10 PM. They told many guests they had no room for them with a confirmed reservation yet sales people are standing in the lobby waiting to sell you an upgrade. Would not stay here again but it was not a bad experience. Just very average.
