Vegetarian view

The food was incredible, especially for a vegetarian! I was always pleasantly surprised by the variety offered each meal. The few negative items I noticed was there were no hand sanitation stations before you enter the buffets..very important to the health conscious person! The food tongs were not seperated for the vegetable and meat items either. I was greatly distressed the evening that the buffet included a whole stuffed piglet....I couldn't eat anything that meal and left. The same thing occured when a whole large fish was placed on the buffet. I fully understand my views on animal cruelty are very much in the minority from the general population. Our room had an awesome view of the roof of the spa, couldn't even see the ocean...not much to get excited about.

Nice family resort

This is a nice, all-inclusive family resort on the lagoon sideof the hotel district in Cancun. It is comprised of several hotels, but your package only allows you access to certain amenities at one of the hotels, which was a downer for us, as we were given a room in a different building from the one where all of our access was permitted. The large pool is gorgeous, food and drink are plentiful, the beach is lovely, and the staff is very friendly. They do try to sell you timeshares! Rooms are small for a family of 4, the food is rather bland, but fresh fruit is plentiful. There is a nice kids' club, but little else to do on resort. We found that we had to book any excursions through our travel agent or through an on-site rep (who was rarely on-site). There were a few activities that could be booked through the hotel. No shopping or sightseeing was within walking distance. If you just want to lounge by the pool or beach and eat and drink for a few days, this is a very nice place.

Good value for families

The beach and pool are perfect for kids. The buffet had a wide selection of food and the wait staff was very nice. The rooms are small, so we up graded to a junior suit. The staff at the front desk are nice, BUT useless. They were unable to answer the simplest questions and it took them three tries to give us a room that was unoccupied. We also liked that the hotel was away from the main downtown strip, but easily reached by the bus.

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

Aquaworld has a great boat ride for people who want the snorkeling experience without getting wet. Their sub-sea explorer ride sits you under the water and takes you over a coral reef. We saw sting rays, sea turtles and lots of fish. Perfect for children.

Not a Family Resort

When we purchased this trip it advertised 5 dining facilities plus buffets as part of the all inclusive package. The first day, we were kicked out of a restuarant and told we could not use one of the pools because it was not included. The front desk never explained where we could eat or what pool we can use. Basically, we had to pay an additional $30 per day to have the all inclusive package that we had purchased. I guess it should be called a partially inclusive resort. We have stayed in Cancun many times. This is the first time I can say the food was awful. The resort caters to 20 something year olds. This was not a “family resort”.

Not all inclusive

There is a million steps here, if you have a hard time walking...do not go here. There is only one pool that can be used unless you upgrade. There are only certain drinks you can have unless you upgrade. There are only certain areas that can be used unless you upgrade. Only allowed 1 bottle of water a day unless you pay for it. The resort itself is okay, lots of shady spots and huts if you want but, again, only certain areas of the beach can be used unless upgraded. There are 2 buffets, basically all the same food every day on both. Two restaurants that can be used with reservation only and not impressive. Would not go here again. Also, very limited balconies, most people do not have one and very few windows that open, these are also an upgrade. We felt we were misled when booking this resort and will not return. Definitely not ALL inclusive.

Great value

We were lucky to book in the last minute and got a good deal, which made the experience only better. Also, our room was upgraded to the next building. Haven't seen rooms at the actual Palm resort, ours was nice. The only thing we thought was strange was that our bracelets were from the Palm resort, not the Grand palm oasis, so there were shaded parts of the beach that we were not allowed to use. However, there was plenty of room on the beach and enough lounges to use, so it wasn't a big deal. Food was good, large enough selection and variety. I like fish and there was always some available. My son fell in love with the sushi bar that's open for lunch, until 5pm I believe. He was there every day. Beer on tap is XX, we liked it. We went to downtown Cancun once, when the weather wasn't the best, otherwise staying at the resort is just fine. Took one tour (ziplining) and had fun. Not so much at the timeshare presentation, where we got it, but that's part of it. Know what you want, when they get you at the airport and push it. The merchants on the beach are less intrusive now than I remember from the past. They said something about new policy about bothering people. There must have been complaints. Overall, can't wait for our next trip.

Starter or budget friendly resort... Great Location

The Oasis Palm is a nice "starter" hotel resort to go to or budget friendly place to be. Being our first time to Cancun and not knowing anything, we chose this hotel based on the price and location. The staff is friendly for the most part. Most speak English, however it does help to brush up on some basic Spanish like, "how much for this, where is the, and what time does?" There rooms are small so do not expect anything big. I would compare it to a small Best Western or older version of Holiday Inn. The bathroom is horribly small, a shower and toliet and that is it. One of the greatest assests that the hotel has is the Kids' Place which is a fun zone for kids. You can leave them with the staff and pick them up until 10pm. You cannot leave the hotel, but it is great beacuse the kids get to migle with each other and have a lot of great activities. Some reviews are negative, and remember we went in Winter so I have no idea if the AC does not work, but it worked fine for us. The tours are nice, but be advised, the bus is freezing because regardless of the weather, they turn on the AC at full blast in coldest temp and they do not turn in off. Also, you may not like the food they provide for you at lunch so be wary. The budgetary benefits as being an all-inclusive resort, a majority of your food and drinks is included. All mixed drinks and a daily buffett is all for you. I highly recommend tipping a $1 per every 2 drinks and you will be well taken care of. Overall it was a good first time experience, starter hotel, or a great budget friendly place.
