This hotel was a total mess

The room was falling apart. I have taken pictures of the bathroom ceiling coming down. The lacks were broken. There was a excessively visible signs of mold growth. I have pictures of the room for you reference.

Don't book a room if you're over 21

We made a point of vacationing in Cancun well after spring break. When we arrived, the hotel was overrun with drunk, rampaging teenagers and college students, many from Canada (not a jab at Canada, by the way). Since the hotel is shaped like a pyramid, the noise is amplified. There were drunks pounding on doors, screaming and carrying on sometimes until 7 in the morning -- with no intervention from hotel security. The food was bland and awful, like slightly classed-up cafeteria fare. Don't stay at this hotel if you have a family or are planning a romantic getaway. Check into an adults only hotel, or check out Riviera Maya. It's really too bad, because the location is wonderful and the beach is beautiful.

Spring Break Bust

When we arrived at the Oasis Cancun we were not able to check in at the regular lobby due to construction. We had to check in at a conference room and had to pay a 28$ additional insurance fee in cash. There was no prior indication given that this fee was going to be required. Also, the guests that were staying at the hotel were out of control and the hotel staff had no control over them. In the halls the ceiling were leaking water. The air conditioner in our room was broken. There was vomit, garbage, and other disgusting things on the floor. It was all inclusive, but the only way to get service at the bar is to tip the bartender every time. We stayed for a week and only got our room cleaned once. The currency exchange rate at the front desk was ridiculous. The food wasn't bad, it was probably one of the nicer things. The pool water may look bright blue, but once your in it, you can see the filth that really lies within. Construction noises started at 5 in the morning. Overall, I was not pleased with Oasis Cancun and will not be spending my time or money there again.

Okay

The resort itself was very nice. When booking through this company if they tell you to meet a guy for excursions, be aware that he never shows up for work-I didn't see him the whole week so booked through someone else. The knob to the shower, the towel rack, and toilet cover were all broken.

Family Christmas Vacation

Our family just returned from a 5 day vaction to Oasis Cancun. Our group consisted of 6 of us in our 20s and our parents. As a preface, we booked this resort based almost completely on price, and overall had a decent experience. To start with the positive, the resort is large with a very nice beach, several pools, bars and restaurants. We had beautiful weather in the 80s with sunshine every day, which helped make the trip more enjoyable. Most of the employees are very friendly and eager to help. Based on the price I was concerned about what the food selection may be, however I was pleasantly surprised. There is only a buffet option for breakfast which did get a little old, but for the other meals there were several restaurants to choose from. For lunch we enjoyed the Mexican restaurant, as well as the American restaurant which served great woodfire pizza. For the evening they did have a Brazilian Steakhouse which was a nice option, and good entertainment. For those staying at the Grand Oasis (same resort just nicer rooms and access to a few more restaurants) there were some additional restaurants that looked nice too. As for the downside, checking in was a nightmare. We arrived at 3:00 which was apparently the worst time to arrive. Any guests who had arrived earlier in the day were able to leave their bags at the front door and got a drink wristband and told to come back at 3:00 to check in to their room, so we had about a 45 minute line which was completely unorganized. Once we did get to the front my parents were given a huge run around with getting their room. They were given keys to 4 different rooms that were all occupied (they use actual keys – so they actually got into the rooms of these 4 other people- a little scary) before they were finally given a room that did work. The rooms themselves were standard for a mid-grade resort in Mexico. They were in need of updating and had that funky smell, but overall they were sufficient. The couple pieces of advice I would give to anyone traveling here, would be first, be cautious when going out at night. The second night there my brothers went to Senior Frogs and after leaving they were waiting for a cab outside and were confronted by the police and 2 of them were handcuffed, put into the cop car and then told that they could either go to jail for 36 hours or pay $150 each. They were not doing anything other than waiting for a cab, however, they were obviously targeted for being American. We also talked to a group of people at our resort who were sold counterfeit wrist bands for Coco Bongo in the lobby of the hotel for $65 each. As for drinks, the bars all have "top shelf" (Jose Cuervo, Smirnoff, etc. ) alcohol and the cheap stuff. They will make your drinks with the better stuff if you ask. I don't think most people realized that you could get it, you just had to ask for it. The only other advice would be that if you are looking for a fancy upper class relaxing resort this is probably not your place, however if you are just looking to get away to a nice beach and don’t mind some mediocre rooms and okay food, the Oasis Cancun is a pretty good value for your money.

At the hotel bars just ask for the top shelf alcohol and they will give it to you. Most people didn't relize that this was the case.
