Not what we expected.
The front desk staff was very rude along with the time share people. The wait staff was excellent! We traveled with two other couples, and they had turn down service eveynight and we had it only our first night. We had to call every day to have our refrigerator restocked our friends did not have to. Our maid replaced our dirty hand towels with ones that were still wet.!!! Maybe it was because our friends were on a different floor than us and just had better service. There was no swimming on the beach, it was full of weeds and smelled very bad. Be prepared to eat buffet food for breakfast and lunch everday. We will not return to any of the Palace Resorts.

Not that great
The resort is nice, the food is ok but not the best that I have had, the resort staff go out of their way to serve you. The beach was very poor, covered with seaweed and little or no waves. It is more like a lake. It's best to stay at the hotel area in Cancun or Playacar if you want a nice beach, with seashells, etc. They really put the moves on you to buy a timeshare, lots of arm-twisting. Take lots of $1 bills for tips.

Moon Palace has gone downhill!
Let me preface by saying I have been to Moon Palace previously, in 2007. That stay was amazing with great amenities and cuisine. Fast forward to July 2011 and you can see the economic downturn has hit this resort HARD! FOOD:The biggest concern was with the food. The meat/poultry is so overly salted it is unedible. The smell coming from the restaurants made me gag! My husband and I got sick on the third day of our stay (we think from a hamburger) and couldn't find any bland, unsalted foods to eat we actually went up to Cancun to find food. Because our stomachs were so upset, we also couldn't drink alcohol after the third day so that money was also a waste. We are both on antibiotics now, having gone to the GI upon our return. Still waiting the results of the testing, but is presumed bacteria and parasites from the food. OCEAN:The ocean was swimmable last time, this time you were not allowed in. Taking the bus up to Cancun was a must, and is so beautiful. We wish you could stay for more than 4 hours, we even paid to get a cab back one day since we wanted more time there. SPA:$300 for spa service included was nice! However, the massages are not really for the allotted time they say. For example, I timed my 50 minute massage and was done after only 40 minutes. Grounds: They are well kept. Signs of aging are obvious. Rooms: They are beginning to age as well. Grout lines very dirty in the rooms. We were woken up by a horrible smell one night, which was the AC burning out. We could barely breathe in the room. Take advantage of using points to upgrade your room closer to the lobby, we are glad we did! On my last trip in 2007 we had towel art waiting us everynight, I guess that was one of the cutbacks as this time we just got new towels placed on our bed. One day we told housekeeping not to come to our room as we kept it pretty neat and didn't want them with our personal belongings, only to come back twice that day to see they had cleaned, then later had turned down the bed even though we had the DO NOT DISTURB sign on the door. The housekeepers also knock on your door(even with the sign) at 8 am asking to clean. BEFORE YOU GO: Print out your own resort map, the ones in the rooms are outdated and don't include the Moon Grand section. Also, make sure to book your spa and excursions upon arrival so you get optimal time slots. Take advantage of the photo session with your points!!!!

Moon Palace
It was all inclusive, which is convenient. However, it also meant cheap, watered down drinks, slow service (dinner took three hours), and poor quality food. I would rather pay for my food and drinks and get what I want.

we have taken many trips, none to cancun. This was also our first time staying at a palace resort. It was very nice, service was great! It wasn't near the hotel district and the beach is very grassy! not the sparkling blue water you would expect. we paid a little more for a little less time and it wasn't really worth it!

Nice family vacation site
This was my first time at an all-inclusive and it will be my last. I didn't care for the food. It was bland and mass-produced. In the evening, the desserts tasted like they'd sat out all day. There were plenty of activities and the pool and beach areas were beautiful and nicely maintained. The staff was gracious and eager to serve, once they understood what you wanted. I visited Cancun once before and I'd say the experiences equally compared.

Moon Palace for a Wedding
We traveled to Moon Palace for a wedding of our friends. We've been to Mexico two other times - one for our own wedding and then our one year anniversary. This resort was HUGE compared to the first two we stayed at (Excellence Riviera and Secrets Capri). There are three complexes - like three separte resorts. There were golf carts all over to drive you between the complexes. When we got there we were in Nizuc and the rest of the wedding party were in Sunrise. We asked to transfer there and they were very accomodating. We were not able to use our resort credit to upgrade because of the switch but our room was fine. We were on the second floor and had a "garden view" but were still able to see the ocean. There were several restaurants to choose from. Breakfast was great. Lots of variety to choose from on the Buffets. We got room service for Breakfast and it was just OK. Somewhat disappointed in the fruit quality. Lunches were usually spent by the pool swim up bar & outdoor restaurant which was pretty good. Dinners were just average. The best dinner we had was at the Golf Course Restaurant. Also got room service late night and it was pretty good. We were able to use resort credits towards the spa and golf. Golf course was an 8 out of 10. The spa was nice, professional, good service. We also used resort credit toward a bottle of wine (that here in the states you can get for under $20) - it was $70 at the golf course restaurant. The wedding service we attended and reception after was beautiful and lots of fun. Seemed like they did a good job. The pools and grounds were beautiful. Lots of space to find your own corner to yourself. Drinks were a little on the weak side, but if you asked they'd add an extra shot. Overall, a good time, lots of fun, but not sure I'd go back to this resort. Like the smaller sized resorts.

Not what it used to be...
Not what it used to be, the small touches are gone-the personal attention. Don't expect 5 star...or 4, or maybe 3 star food. Our biggest complaint. It was essentially old country buffet quality food at best, but for free...no real complaints. The pool closes at SEVEN PM!!! so be prepared for that let down. Watch leaving money on dressers as it will disappear and just remember to TIP!!! we saw at best 15-20% of people tipping. Come on!!!!! Thats what these people are living off of!! All together it was nice, but we won't return. We will look into other resorts first. All of the little complaints and changes are enough to add up to being disappointed at the change. If you've been before- prepare for let down.

The flamingo mall has great souvenir shopping but BARGAIN!! plan on being able to pay 40-50% of what they tell you with just a little bit of bargaining!!! It's customary.. So why spend more than you have to.
