Amazing!

The hotel was perfect! What appeared quaint turned out to be a beautiful oasis, right on the beach and only about a mile from downtown! A perfect location for relaxation but also close enough to party it up on spring break! The staff was unbelievably amazing as well! Juan Carlos, Pablo, Ismael, and Hendrick were the best!

Awesome 4-day getaway

We arrived Friday night around 10PM and were happy to see a well-dressed man come down to meet us and help us with our luggage. We walked up the stairs to the front desk, and had a smooth check-in. The receptionist explained to us where we could go for the breakfast buffet (which we highly recommend, more on that later), where we could get towels for the pool/beach, and that Wi-Fi was available (in the lobby only). The first man then helped us to our room with our luggage, and we officially arrived. We had room 307 if I remember correctly. It had a huge bed (probably California King sized, not immensely comfortable, but not bad), a balcony facing the street (not the beach, unfortunately, but for the price we paid, we weren't complaining), a small old-school television, and air conditioning. When we looked in the bathroom, we found a used towel on the sink, an empty plastic wrapper that used to contain soap apparently, and the bin near the toilet had a couple pieces of tissue paper. The worst part of our stay was over. We stopped by the front desk to mention our findings, as we made our way toward the pool in the darkness of the night. We saw that it was quite the large pool, right above the beach, and that there was plenty of seating locations, a bar, and access to the beach. After enjoying the cool breeze of the ocean for a few moments, we retired for the night. Breakfast was the best! Served from 7AM to 10AM (or was it 11AM?), there's not a whole lot of variety, but we were definitely satisfied. They had chilaquiles, scrambled eggs (a bit runny), sausage, bread, mixed fruits, strawberry yogurt, plain yogurt, orange juice, horchata, coffee, shredded cheese, and a bunch of sauces. It seemed you could order additional things too if you wanted to. The waiters are very helpful without being too overbearing. Once friendly waiter, Juan Carlos, was our favorite. He told us about the bus routes, tour packages that he offered, and other places to see in the area. The service at the pool and beach was great. The lifeguard there doubles as the umbrella set-up guy, and was a huge help when the sun was burning us mercilessly. We were sure to tip all of the workers, as they definitely deserved it. Although the hotel was fully booked (as we were told, when we checked in and asked if there were any other rooms available, perhaps with an ocean view), it didn't seem packed at any moment. This was great for us, as we wanted a true "getaway". The hotel has a very cozy and "home"-y vibe because of its small size. There are bus stops very close to the hotel. It's $1USD per person, one way, so it's super cheap to get to the city to stock up on snacks and whatnot. Unfortunately, our room did not have a fridge, but we knew that already. If it did have one, we'd easily take the bus to the supermarket and stock up there (it's about a 15-20 minute trip). There are also some nice places to eat in the city ("eat where the locals eat"), and we saved a good amount of money doing so. Right outside the hotel there is a little restaurant with great prices. Across the street from the hotel is an Outback Steakhouse (American pricing), and a pharmacy. About a 10 minute walk from the hotel there is a plaza right on the bay that you can walk around, dine and do shopping at). All in all, it was an excellent stay. We would definitely do it again in a heartbeat.

Unique place to stay!

We stayed here for one night. We drove from the airport and it was easy to find, just take the one-way side road to the right in front of the "Beach Palace". We knew it was an older hotel that is being updated, so we didn't expect a 5 star stay. It's a budget minded hotel. The Beach was beautiful and the location was great. Within walking distance of little stores and restaurants.

Great place for beach time

Great value. Friendly staff. This is not an all-inclusive. It is vibrant botique hotel.

Hola and Adios Cancun!

We only stayed one night at Mia Cancun - our room was very big - 300 ft. with a kitchenette and a large bathroom. Everything was very clean, I remember thinking it must take a while to clean this! The balcony has a large patio with a small seating arrangement if you want to have breakfast outside. The view is towards the bay - so you can really enjoy the beautiful sunsets! The staff was very friendly and breakfast was included - everything was fresh, tasty and made to order. The swimming pool was very nice and the wet bar was to die for - they make the best Pina Colladas! The hotel has it's own private beach and provide towels, chairs and have a life guard should you need any assistance. I wish we could spend more time enjoying this location!

Nightlife tip: Long walk from hotel

Cancun is pretty large - you can catch the bus if you need to get places (it costs about $1), but be aware this is public transportation and seating can be limited. Make sure you make reservations in advance - we planned our trip ahead and all we needed was meals and drinks money. I highly recommend exchanging currency, as each location has their own exchange rate and which beneficial to you. As far as traveling to other locations, we used ADO - their version of Grey Hound. ADO is a very nice company - staff is nice, tickets are affordable and their buses have screens to enjoy movies while you travel. The tickets were extremely affordable for the distance traveled. Most of the staff speaks English, but I recommend having a dictionary/translator/etc.

Best Decision!!

My boyfriend and I stayed here for just 1 night prior to our departure but wish we had booked this hotel the whole stay! It is charming, neat and clean, sits on the beautiful beach, and the staff was just amazingly accommodating! We had spent 3 nights prior at an all inclusive resort just a 5 min walk away for about $400-500 a night, but would definitely book this hotel again if we return. I took a picture from the lobby going out the back door to the beach and everyone saya it looks like I took that pic straight out of a magazine! Oh, and there's a cute, tasty little restaurant just steps from the hotel as well as some stores.

perfect romantic trip

this hotel was perfect for us, we wanted a quiet place where there were not a lot of people and thats what we got! Most of the time the beach and the pool was empty so we were the only ones there it was amazing it felt like we had the whole place to our selves! The staff is Amazing! Their breakfast is amazing i wasn't really hoping for anything good with the whole reviews about it being not as good, but it was amazing! we did upgrade to a room with a balcony once we got there and it was amazing! the view was very beautiful! the jacuzzi didnt work we tried getting it to work couple of times, they even came to look at it and it never got fixed it would of been nice to enjoy it with the beautiful view of the ocean but oh well... the place does need some updates but that didnt bother us, we barely spent any time in our room, most of the time we were on the beach or in the pool! I am getting back to the staff they are AMAZING all of them are so nice, if they ever read this, "thank you very much from LOVE" And a BIG HI to them from us, hope that someday we will be back!

Family Vacation

I read many reviews about this hotel and they were all correct. This is a 3-star boutique style hotel. Not modern at all. That said, it was wonderfully clean, quiet and the service was excellent. We stayed at an upscale hotel 3 years ago and got no sleep because of the noisy discos that blasted their music until 3am. This was totally the opposite. Very quiet and tranquil. We had a jacuzzi on our balcony which was very nice. The room was clean and simple. Great dressing-room style bathroom with plenty of room for clothes and suitcases. The breakfast included was great for those days when we wanted to hang out on the beach. The only comment I would make about the breakfast is that it should be served hot, not cold as we experienced several days. Not sure why that was...other than that, it was a great 3-star experience.

Money-saving tip: Short drive from hotel

Jump on the Route 1 Bus and go to Mercado 28..."Market 28" for dining and shopping. Also walk a few blocks to Parque del Palapas - great typical Yucatan food and some good shopping as well.
