MayaFair Design Hotel

This was not a funny joke! We missed our flight and had to find a hotel and needed something on the cheaper side. Well, we got it! This is an old shopping mall in the process of being renovated. The mold/mildew smell nearly knocked us down as we entered the rooms, there were dead roaches on the floor, urine stains on the top sheet (which was all that was on the bed- no blanket/spread). The toilet/shower/garden tub are just sitting out in the open. It's just one big room with no windows to the outside. The front window is the same from the original store with Chanel/Dolce & Gabana/Versace...etc...still on the frosted glass. The back side of the lamp shades were mildewed. The air conditioner did not work. It was on, but no cool air. We stayed about 10 minutes and checked back out. When we arrived, they did not have any confirmation of a reservation, so therefore, no refund. We just checked out and went down the street to a resort and paid a good bit more, but it was worth it. I did not feel safe here at all. If anyone has seen the movie "Hostel", that will give you an idea of this place! (The only reason I gave this one star, is that you're required to enter something!)

The hotel is well located, very close to the beach (just crossing the road) although you have to walk about 300 meters to get access to the beach. It seems to have been a shopping facility before and the rooms are being slowly renovated. The downside is that the toilet and shower was fully integrated to the room and as you can imagine is not very suitable when you are sharing the room with your son and daughter (15 and 18 years old)! do to my flight being delayed for six hours, I did not venture out around the hotel, however the room was clean, and very spacious!

Nice people who work here, great location for clubbing and restaurants, nice pool, rooms were decent and clean.
