Originally booked the hotel for the price. Upon arriving at the rental car office, I was told how horriable of a location this was, and that we should try to move to the hotel zone. That information could not have been more wrong. Our first night
in town the bar tender offered to show us some local bars, and we couldn't have had a better time. This hotel is nothing like anything in the states but for our trip that was the point. I would stay again.
The hotel was not that bad, since it was pretty cheap and we didn't had great expectations. We traveled as a group of students during spring break, so we wanted something cheap. However, the location was a problem. It's located in down town
Cancun, with other words: the ghetto. We had to take a cab everywhere, since it was too dangerous to walk outside. Taxi is not that expensive, but it ads up a lot in the end. Also, taxi drivers had a hard time finding the hotel.
The rooms are not that bad, but a friend of mine got his iphone stolen. Since the bathrooms have a window that leads to a small room, which the door is never locked. Hard to explain, but it was creepy, since people actually could go inside that small room and watch you taking a shower (me and my friend put a towel over the window).
The hotel had just got a new bartender when we arrived that could speak very good English, and he was also very helpful. The people in the front desk had some hard time with the language, especially the one that worked in the evening.
I loved Cancun, me and my friend is planning to go back in the summer, but we are choosing an another hotel this time.
