Affordable, Safe Vacation
Really enjoyed not being on the main drag in Cancun. This place was nice, clean, safe. It sets back a little away from all the hustle and bustle. Small residential area surrounds you and a golf course. I loved walking it! In the middle between downtown, yet still in the hotel zone. Cabs are always out there waiting patiently. The staff doesnt speak much English, enough to check you in. The breakfast was nice, fresh fruit was wonderful. Pool was relaxing. For the price it was well worth it. I went for dental work in Cancun and saved over 10K. I would stay there again. Oh the tv channels were limited. Wish I had paid more attention in Spanish class!

Shopping tip:
Short drive from hotel
Found better shopping OUTSIDE of those flea markets. They were extremely high and annoying. The mall had better souveniers and cheaper. La Isla has a great restaurant Mr. Pappas, go watch the sunset. Awesome. 2nd drink free. Lobster dinner was good. Strawberry margaritas delicious.

Good price for the location
The hotel is located at the endof the Hotel Zone, before the downtown. The rooms are clean, the bed was very confortable and the swimming pool was ok for swimming, not that small. The Internet is free of charge, but notaccesible in the rooms, it was accessible in front of the room in the garden. The hotel is located far from the bus station. The busses running in the hotel zone and in the Downcenter are very regular with many stops.

Fine for the price
After spending the week at a timeshare on the main strip in Cancun, we stayed at Holiday Inn Express for the last night before we flew home. The first room we stayed in had a moldy smell coming from the air conditioner and was not very clean. I complained and they, without any questions, moved us to a new room. The new room was fine. We swam in the very nice pool that they had, but the hotel does not have any beach access, which we were hoping for. To get to the main road it was a 5 minute walk. The breakfast the following morning was yummy.

perfect economical family hotel
ideally located to bus line... just a short walk away. the pools were perfect for family time. the whole hotel was very cleanly kept up and the employees were all cheerful, hard working, and helpful. we enjoyed our 10 day stay here by taking in local sites. food on the premises was good. ate breakfast daily and even had the occasional dinner when convenient. would concider bringing my grandkids back in future.... enjoyed the kids who were enjoying the pools.

Short walk from hotel
take the local buses.... with maps and helpful locals you can get around real easy and affordable without having to rent a car and stress in the crazy driving. local beaches are quite nice and just a short walk or bus ride away, as well as all the restaurants and sites you will need for entertainment.

Nice basic hotel
Great place to stay. It is not a luxury hotel, hence the price. Location is a little out of the "action zone" and because of that it is very quiet. There is a 10 minute walk to the main street (Kulcukan) and here you can catch a bus to downtown or in the other direction to all the main attractions. If you don't want to walk, taxis are always available outside the hotel. The free breakfast was great, although it did get a bit repetitive after a 12 day stay. Staff are very helpful and friendly. My only critisism would be that the pool was freezing and nobody was taking the plunge except for a few kids but even they didn't stay in long. If they heated the pool this hotel would be a perfect budget choice. They have a bar, open from 3.00pm until 9.00pm, so it's not exactly 'party city", but that's what is great about this hotel, total peace and quiet! Housekeeping kept us surprised every time we returned to our room in the evening. We had all kinds of towel art, with swans, bunnies etc. If you use the hotel purely as somewhere to sleep and eat breakfast before going out adventuring, you will love this place!

Short walk from hotel
Take the short walk up to the main street and catch the bus it's only 8.5 pesos. Much cheaper than the taxis. Also don't take the tours that everybody on the streets pester you to buy. Instead go into the bus station down town, it's called ADO. There you can take a comfortable bus to all the popular destinations at a fraction of the rip off tour merchants. For example Tulum is about $7.50 US per person with ADO, with a tour company the same destination will cost you anywhere from $40 - $80 depending if there is a guided tour or food included.

great value
We used the hotel room only for sleeping and shower. IT was very clean and quiet. Staff is great except the breakfast crew. In Cancun, we have booked tours to visit Xcaret/Xelha.. All of these tours have transportation services which pick you up from the hotel between 7- 8 am. The breakfast starts at 7 in the hotel. Hence one morning we went to the breakfast at 6.50 to pack/eat little before a long journey ahead. The crew did not let us in. They should know about the tour plans better than us and be more flexible with the breakfast time. Other than the breakfast thing, we get everything we wanted from the hotel. The cab between hotel-Cancun nightlife zone is around 8 dollars. you can walk too but takes around 45-60 minutes, nice walk though. If you plan to do mostly out of Cancun excursions, this is a nice hotel to book.

Ask the prices both in Mexican currency and dollars. The exchange rate is very variable. Surprisingly using American dollars directly turned out to be cheaper most of the time. (The guide books mostly says the other way around, though)

Don't Drive in MEX
A surprise in Pok Ta Pok
A nice hotel find off the busy main street in Cancun but close enough to walk to everything. Only suggestion about Cancun is DO NOT DRIVE. corruption is everywhere in Mexico and really bad in the past few years. If you do drive, and you obey the laws it does not matter. The police will pull you over for what ever they make up and you will either "go down town" or end up paying off the cops. They are select in pulling over any tourist. I have been to Mex 5 times in the past 6 years and this is my last! This is the only country I have traveled to where I truly felt like things could have gone really bad for my wife and I when I was pulled out of my rental car.

The staff were always willing to help out. The concierge gave us coupons for discounts and free stuff at various retailers and restaurants in the area. The front desk staff was able to help out in finding in the rental car return location too, late at night. They definitely went beyond what they were required to do. The breakfast was excellent with a combination of Canadian/US/Mexican food including bacon, eggs, pancakes, toast, meat (beef/chicken/pork) in a spicy sauce, enchiladas, cereal, fruit, pastries, juice, coffee, tea, and more. Unfortunately only available 7-10, but that wasn't a big deal. The room was clean and always had towels done up ornamentally as swans or similar. Parking was available and with security present. Taxis were always available as well. The hotel wasn't in the middle of things, but that meant it was quiet. Overall, the hotel was all that one needed for basic accommodation when taking day trips out.
