Grand Park Royal Cancun Caribe - All Inclusive

Not sure why this was a 4-Star and highly-ranked Cancun Hotel. Our room was upgraded which was great, but the beds were hard and small, air conditioner barely worked, and shower went from scalding hot to freezing cold every 10-20 seconds. In terms of location though, this hotel cannot get better. About a 10 minute walk to all the nightlife and great restaurants, close drive from the airport, and amazing beach. Staff was really nice, but the food was mediocre and tasteless. The worst thing about this hotel is someone is constantly on you about something. If you order room-service, expect your phone to ring every 30 minutes until you put your tray in the hallway. We literally had to unplug the room phone when we ordered room-service. Once they called at 1am to ask us to put the tray in the hallway. They also call your room on a daily basis to see if you want to book any tours. It was really annoying and intrusive (especially since the calls start around 8am). Of and one other completely stupid thing is that although this hotel is in Cancun, and it was about 90 degrees there every day we were there...and the main buffet restaurant is literally at the pool, men are not allowed to wear tank tops in the restaurant. It's completely ridiculous! Finally, the ala-carte restaurants are terrible. All that bad stuff said, we still really just love Cancun, so a bad hotel was not going to ruin our stay! But now we just know why we got such a good deal on it.

We loved everything about this place! Went there for our Anniversary. On the actual day of our Anniversary, the restaurant we ate at treated us like ROYALTY! This hotel is in the middle of the hotel zone, which is perfect. The food was great, the staff was great and the scenery is second to none!

While the expansiveness of this hotel gives ample opportunity for solitude and relaxation, the cobbled walkways were hard on the feet when you had to hoof it to one of the opposite ends of the grounds. The hotel was centrally located with shopping areas not too far off and the room was lovely and clean. Having the beach and sea right outside off the balcony was perfect. Staff were pleasant generally, but the waitstaff in the Oriental restaurant were the best. The annoying parts were that while internet access is listed as an amenity it's only once you get there there that you find there's a huge charge for it to use! Same for use of the gym. It was also annoying that you had only a 3 hour window each day to make a reservation for a seat in one of the 2 "better" restaurants so that if you were out on an activity for the day you were stuck having to eat at the buffet. The restaurant staff would not budge on letting you in without a reservation even when the restaurant was almost empty! Overall, a good value and I'd recommend it.

I booked this Hotel based on the reviews. Boy do I regret it. The rooms were average, beds were hard and worst of all DO NOT get there early and expect them to accomodate you. My best friend and I arrived at 11am and were not allowed to check in until 3pm sharp. We even offered to pay extra. Food was above average. MAke sure to make reservations for the Italian and Tai Restaurants. Great food there.

Since the hotel is bearing the Hyatt hallmark we had high but reasonable expectations. And when we saw the discount on this all-inclusive resort, we were elated. There are two positive things worth mentioning: the beach is the best in the Zona Hotelera, and the some of staff is hard working and trying even harder to please (just remember to tip the bar tender). The rest is less than "average": the rooms are not only dated but poorly maintained, although very clean. The main dining area is just noisy and breakfast is the only reasonable meal - we gave up on lunch and dinner because the dishes were below par. We even tried one of the two restaurants on site with "reservation only" and "evening attire" requirements; it did not happen a second time (fried sushi rolls, anyone?). And what drove us up the wall was the timeshare sales people. Yes, the hotel has two other structures that they are trying to get rid of. Every single morning, for the whole week, someone would greet us right off the elevator with an invitation to one of their presentations, insist on the "free" local trips that we could get just for that, and when we finally thought we've escaped yet one more time and headed for breakfast, there they were again: dozens of sales people doing their thing all around us. In the breakfast area. At eight in the morning ! I felt like shouting "Guys, take a break: I'm here to relax not to listen to your spiel !"

Our honeymyoon was fantastic! we stayed at the hotel for 8 days and it was wonderful. The staff was very friendly and kind. If we didn't know something they gladly helped us out without looking at us like stupid tourists. the cleanliness of the hotel deserves a ten because they clean the place like crazy. The food was amazing, we ate so much everyday we could hardly walk. They also had fun activities everyday for the visiters to experience, so being bored is something that would not happen to you. Overall, the experience was amazing and we would totally recomend it to anyone who would like to go on a relaxing getaway.

Everything about this hotel was excellent. The one and only less than perfect statement that could be made is the company onsite that is trying to sell time shares to all of the guests. If I hadn't read the reviews on this site prior to going, we could've easily been tricked into signing up for a tour with them. Other than that, it was fantastic! I would stay here again.

Wanted quiet, got exactly that. As it was in early October, not sure the same would apply when hotel is completely full...Royal Tower is worth the xtra money...

4 nights in sunny Cancun - just what the doctor ordered. The Grand Park Royal is a great place for couples and families alike. The staff was very attentive to every detail. I listened to other feedback regarding upgrading to the Royal Tower - my wife and I are happy we did. Infinity Pool overlooking the Caribbean Sea was awesome!

We had a wonderful stay and a great time at this hotel. The staff was super friendly and willing to bend over backwards to please us. Only 2 small complaints-1: You get harassed by the timeshare staff to go on a "tour" of the facility about 5 times per day (not an exagerration). It got a little annoying. 2: The $8 per day for the gym was unexpected and should have been included in the all inclusive package. Other than that muy bueno and good value for the money.
