"Relax In Paradise"

This was our first trip to Cancun and we loved every minute of our time at the Solaris. The staff was exceptional. They were helpful, prompt, and friendly. We felt like we were being treated like royalty. The minute you step into the hotel you are greeted by friendly staff and a cool drink. Our room ( we didn't upgrade to ocean view) was comfortable and clean. Our maid ensured the frig was stocked, towels were folded into cute animals, and curtains were folded into designs--even a rose was left on Valentine's Day. The food was awesome and there was always a lot of variety if you get tired of one type of entree or food. You can always get a good old hamburger or hotdog at the snack bar. The Magic Show was wonderful and we also enjoyed the Mexican Fiesta and dance show. There was plenty to do if you like scheduled activities. We chose to relax by the adult pool(quiet), swim in the ocean, and enjoy the serenity of palm trees and tropical birds. Be sure to try the Mexican Fire Coffee served in the Lobby at 4PM. We toured the Myan Ruins one day and it was facinating--worth the 3 hour bus ride. Be sure to bring plenty of $1.00 bills. A two dollar tip is much appreciated and helps ensure great service. Check out the iguanas that live in the front bushes of this beautiful hotel. We can't wait to return with our children and grandchildren.

Everything under one roof

The GR Solaris was great because everything was under one roof. The rooms were clean, staff was friendly and attentive, (bartenders were awesome), and there were a variety of food options. If you didn't feel like going out to a crowded bar, you can stay at the hotel and enjoy a nightly show, or entertainment in the lobby. They have a band usually and a pretty lively dance floor. They serve drinks until late also. If you are hungary, you can order room service 24 hrs a day. We used the room service option a couple times and they were fast and friendly. The only complaint, you have to lay your towels out early to get a chair at the lively pool. There are two other pools that have chairs available most of the time. And also chairs down on the beach in front of the ocean. It is also right in front of a bus stop, so you can take the bus almost anywhere for about 50 cents. We will definately be going back.

Excellent stay

I arrived at the hotel in the evening late. I was immediately taken care of with no hassle. The next day we had a great buffet breakfast, lounged around the pool then had a great buffet lunch. My vacation consisted mainly of lounging during the mornings, taking the local bus after lunch to see downtown Cancun then returning before dinner. Great hotel amenities, the staff was mopre than great and the food was super. My plan is to come back as soon as I can. Loved this hotel.

Sun and fun

Very clean! Lots of fun! Great staff! Noisy halls and a hard bed were the only down sides. Food was incredible. Make reservations at Marco Polo when ever possible it's a cut above!

Great getaway for the price.

We really enjoyed the hotel. The staff was just wonderful. Cannot say enough good about them. The food was awesome as well as the mix drinks etc. We took side trips something different each day which made our trip complete. We like the idea of all inclusive price. Of course, we did extra tipping to staff which they greatly appreciated it. We would do this trip again.

Great, BEST VACATION EVER!!

Went in the swimming pool, drank in the pool, ate at all the restaurants that were there. There's nothing more I could ask for, it was the first time there. It was great. I would go back in a heart beat. Every single person in the staff was polite, nice, wonderful.

You can hop on a bus, it costs two bucks to get on and it takes you from one side of Cancun to the other. The wait is about 10 minutes, there's buses passing by all the time.

Awesome resort for all

We travel a lot and this was our 2nd stay at the GR Solaris with our 10 and 12 yr olds and our parents. We all had a blast! Service is exceptional, staff is always cleaning, and the food great and filling. If someone complains about this place, then they are just too picky!! Beautiful resort and something for every age. Nightly shows were great. Bring lots of $1's to tip the staff. You don't have to, but they are awesome, deserve it and will not forget you!!

What a wonderful time!

While in Cancun we had a wonderful time at the G.R. Solaris. The hotel is beautiful and the staff works incredibly hard to keep everything very clean. I would recommend the upgrade to the ocean view room. The balconies on the ocean side overlook the gorgeous pool and have an unobstructed view of the sea. The food was decent in all of the restaurants. It can all use a little salt and pepper, but I never tasted anything that was bad. The room service menu had many options and being available 24 hours a day is an added bonus. I would recommend ordering the Chicken Fajitas. They were excellent. The beach at the hotel is nice. It is one of the few in Cancun that still has beautiful white sand without any exposed rocks. The surf is a little rough and may not be suitable for children to swim in unattended, but being a lover of a beach with large waves, I enjoyed it. This is my second time staying at this hotel and I am already planning my next trip. Don't forget to bring some extra money to tip the staff. They work very hard to make your vacation memorable and are very appreciative when given some extra recognition.
