TRULY all inclusive

it was lovely -- not 'fancy' or 'posh' as some but PERFECT. Everything was genuinely included, no surprise extra costs -- the bars, shows, the fancier restaurant by reservations, all the buffets, off-hour deli, even the minibar in the room had free beers and sodas. It was just lovely. We're an older lesbian couple, there were families, all ages, all very comfortable.

Watch the locals

DONT USE YELLOW TAXI at airport you will be ripped off. We bought round trip to and from hotel and they wouldnt come pick us up. Said they had no taxis on road now. Said they would refund part of money LOL.. Good luck getting to them at airport. The staff at GR are the best. Food was good and plenty of it. Would like to see pool bars stay open past 5pm. Shows were great. Very good deal for the money. And no we didnt get sick from the water there. The four of us used it for a week. Will go back. Carful of the locals when you buy something, you never get what they promis.

Great Location

The GR Solaris is a great property for families and couples. Activities are well- scheduled throughout the day, the evening entertainment shows are top notch and the food buffets offer a wide selection for everyone. The best part of the buffet was always the wonderful ice cream. The wine and beer selection is limited and could be improved. We enjoyed the smaller size of this resort and the beach is great, but not a good spot for swimming due to the rough waves. We highly recommend this resort for the value and location.

The Staff is beyond amazing!

I have had good experiences with staff in other places I have stayed but I have NEVER experienced such friendly, accommodating and involved staff in my entire 42 years. They present as happy to be there as opposed to doing a job to pay the bills. The staff impressed me more than anything else. My worst experience was the time share experience. My advice is to stay away from the time share sales pitch. They are persistent and the pressure is high. I got it as soon as I exited the plane and yet again after checking into the hotel. Just say NO!! I was suckered into it and I regret it already. They will tell you and have you sign a form that says you cannot cancel at any time. Unfortunately I believed that and did not read the fine print that says you have 5 days to cancel. I did not notice that until I got home. Bad mistake. You can cancel within 5 days after signing the paperwork. PROFEC website has this listed on it. It is the Mexico consumer protection agency. Ok, so the best and worst are out of the way. Other observations during my stay were as follows. GR Solaris is a nice enough hotel. I have no complaints about the hotel, accommodations and certainly not the staff. I was a bit disappointed that this hotel is a family oriented establishment. Mainly older people and a handful of families with younger children but no teenagers! I had my 15 yr old daughter with me and I chose this hotel thinking it would be the best for her to meet people her age. She was the only teen we saw the whole week, her age. I also prefer to have more of a melting pot of people. I was the only single person there. So the bottom line is yes, I would recommend this hotel to family oriented travelers. Again, I cannot say enough about the staff...exceptional. Stay away from the timeshare peeps and you will have a great time.

Shopping tip: Short drive from hotel

Be careful when shopping or doing anything outside of the hotel. Every person I met was a hustler. I am from the states so I am not used to that nor do I like being hounded while I am shopping. When you ask the price they will tell you an outrageous price. They will negotiate but again, that is not my style. Be prepared to meet very nice people who want foreigners money to an annoying degree. The night life is full of energy and tons of fun! I typically do not do the club scene but I am glad I did while there. the clubs are open, not hot and closed in; I like that. That is where I experienced the melting pot I spoke of earlier. All age ranges and people from all over the world. Very nice!

very enjoyable vacation

My wife and I have been coming on vacation to Mexico for over 20 years and have vacationed in many areas. We have stayed at some very up scale resorts, in fact , on the Travel Channel their top ten Mexican Beach Resorts, we have stayed at four of them. I am just giving you an idea of our experiences. Now our opinion of the Grand Solaris Cancun Resort: It was one of our best vacations we have taken, The staff was friendly, helpful, and professional. The food was plentiful 24 hours a day and very well prepared and delicious. They had enough activities around the pool to enjoy. Or just relax. The variety of guests from young couples to families to seniors was well blended. If you are seeking a truly worthwhile vacation at a very reasonable price, you cannot go wrong with the Grand Solaris Cancun. I am going to be telling my friends and family that is truly a jewel to be had.

Good Value

Experience was good for food. Beach is close by. Rooms are a bit noisy due to tiled floors. Alcohol is mid to low shelf, but good for the price. I would recommend for families that are on a budget. Entertaiment was good at night.

Awesome Vacation

We spent a week at GR Solaris this April and had a fantastic time. We have travelled all over the Caribbean and have stayed at all inclusives before. This resort is 25 years old but they take good care of the property and it was comparable to other places we have stayed that cost more. The food was good. They must cater to all nationalities so some of the food is different than in the states but you can always find something you like. The pool activities and nightly shows were fun and well produced. We felt very safe taking the local bus to other locations around the hotel zone (cost 10 pesos or approx $1 each way and they run every 5 minutes). The staff was very courteous, friendly, and helpful. There are 2 other Solaris resorts within a 10 minute walk. We were so impressed with the 3 locations that we joined the Solaris Premier Club. We will be back!!

A fabulous vacation

My family of four spent the Easter Week at GR Solaris. It was a perfect place for vacation. The place was smaller compared with many other resorts in the hotel zone, but it had everything we needed except the big crowd. Drinks were available and conveniently located near the beach and pools. Food was average, but the staff went out of their ways to accommodate us. They prepared mango for us when we asked. Marco Polo was hard to get a reservation, and the food was pretty decent. I booked 2 rooms, one with ocean view and other bay view. I was given two connecting ocean view rooms. One thing I only found out on site, the rooms with the "full" ocean views were reserved for time share members only. My ocean view rooms were at about 70 degree to the beach, so we could see the beach, but could not take a good photo from the balcony. Overall we enjoyed our stay.
