Couple get away

The hotel was spotless always perfectly clean! The discretion is a little misleading with the restaurants. The buffet and other restaurants are at the hotel next door which you do has access to but they aren't on site. The food was just ok. It isn't close to downtown so you need to take a cab. Definitely for an older crowd. The staff was very nice . Beach and water were wonderful! We had great weather and will go back to cancun. I probably would not stay at this resort but I would stay next door at the Solaris.

Spring break getaway

When our grouped arrived to check in they gave us a room with two full beds, which was fine. But our our party was given a room that someone was still staying in. Than was given another room the card opener didn't work. Third room again the card didn't work. Had to have the manager walk with them to finally get it to work. Food wasn't good at all. The walls are paper thin you can hear everything.

good but was a time share.

The hotel was amazing, the food was good and the drinks kept coming. The down side was this was a TIME SHARE !! I had no clue and we got sucked into 2 hours and sales talks and them trying to get us to buy in. I did not pay to go to buy a time share !!! Even in our last few minutes waiting for our shuttle back to the airport they were still asking us to buy in. Every time you went to dinner or did something they asked your room number, this was to flag you if you didn't buy things like trips, or use the spa. If it wasn't a time share I would go back, but no way and I going again.

The shows were free and good, I liked it and so did my wife. The music stunk, a DJ would have been better for dancing.

Great setting, but some organisation needed

Internet access was $120 for our stay and only allowed one device to be used ! Choice of 5 restaurants although only 3 open in the evenings-you had to search out which ones were open. Great cocktails, but no cocktail menues provided. Enjoyed the tennis facilities, but the nets and fencing were in a poor state of repair.. Still no regular vegetarian options on the restaurant menues. Fascinating watching nesting Ospreys on the hotel roof.

Peace & quiet getaway!

All inclusive includes all you can eat & drink plus a 24-hr room service. Breakfast, lunch & dinner are designated by time & area . Tips are optional; internet isn't included but $15/day & shuttle service is $33/person round-trip. Local calls are $0.50/call. I can only rate for 3.50 stars due to the room cleanliness isn't clean enough. You might find a few bugs inside your dresser or cabinet. If you wanna save a $100/day from dinning out, this is a really great deal for the trip.

Not what we expected

THE GOOD: The staff is INCREDIBLE, the food was pretty good. The beach is beautiful. The fitness center is small, as to be expected, but, was decent. You could also use any amenities at the Resort next door. Breakfast buffet was great! All a carte restaurants were good. Marco Polo restaurant was incredible. THE BAD: The resort is very outdated. (That stretch of hotels all are) Not the beautiful, grandiose lobbies and common areas we are used to at some of the bigger, newer resorts. Very few balconies, which we found surprising. (We were fortunately upgraded to a wonderful balcony room.) The Hotel next door was even more outdated. The only bar/lounge area looked like someone's 1970's basement. The tile around the pool area is beyond slippery if it is wet at all! we saw 7 people slip and fall in one afternoon, one man actually broke his arm. Never got into the pool, which was also small, Were given a "Free Sunset Cruise" with our booking package. That was a joke- it cost $5 per person for some odd charge. It sails at 7:00 pm, AFTER the sun had set, so it was dark. No one talked at all (no greeting, no informing us where we were going, etc). One boat employee's 4 yr old son was on the boat, begging tourists for "dinero", while his father watched. The shuttle bus that took you to the boat takes you to Sr Frogs bar afterwards and you have to get your own ride back from there. (In the very fine print) Lastly, 1/2 the shuttles had left and there were not enough rides for all the passengers to even get to Sr Frogs. I know it sounds like I am complaining a lot here. To be honest, we really did have a wonderful, relaxing vacation. The resort was "fine", just not what we were expecting. For the money spent, we just want more than "fine". There are so many beautiful resorts in Cancun, we would definetely go elsewhere next time.

Location was great!! Beds were like sleeping on a brick. My husband got food poisoning the second day so he didn't leave room much at all. The staff was great! Overall would go back again But I would just have to pack a mattress pad!

Entertaining Week in Cancun

We usually don’t write reviews, but this trip deserves a little comment. The hotel is a good value for money, but not 4-star in our view. The staff is friendly, the food is good and our room was kept very clean. However, the trip was memorable because of the booking company that managed our excursions (probably no surprise), not the hotel. The hotel didn’t provide any type of transportation – but the bus system in Cancun is excellent and inexpensive. If you choose this hotel - a few things to consider about your visit: 1) Not so “all inclusive” – for example, internet access is available for $16 a day for each instrument. So, two iPhones and one iPad will cost you $48 a day – and you best make sure you understand the phone carrier charges as well. 2) No self-serve laundry facilities – so wet bathing suits, etc were the order of the day – with the humidity nothing dries out overnight including what you’re packing to bring home. Of course, for a price you can get anything laundered. 3) There are computers available in the “Business Center”, but there are for “Associate Members only” – timeshare holders we assume. One good thing, we were not harassed to buy a timeshare. 4) Until 11 or later at night, expect a lot of noise for rooms that have doors facing the pool or facing the sister hotel on the north side. So while your ocean view may suffer a little, stay away from these rooms if you have small children or want to get to sleep before midnight. 5) If you speak a little Spanish or simply stick to the menu (mostly buffets or 5 or 6 entrees for more formal dinning), things are great. For us, most special requests fell short because of my poor language skills. 6) The hotel has no money exchange or cash available – not even an ATM. The front desk suggested we walk to the 7-11 down the street. We’ve had our cards eaten by Mexican ATM’s – so that wasn’t an option for us. If you run short on cast, you’ll need to go to the bank and don’t forget your passport if you do! 7) The hotel tipping policy is a little fuzzy to say the least – but obviously expected. Take a lot of one dollar bills. 8) Our trip was in late Jan and we were very surprised at the large number of small children – even if you are loving grandparents, consider kiddo’s running everywhere and NOT using their “inside voices” if this is your choice in hotels. We may be a little too old for this hotel and all these observations common events for Cancun, but they are not common in many other places we have visited in Mexico.

Excursions were the attraction for us - Chichen Itza, Xel-Ha Public, Tulum and Isla Mujeres. Each is all day and pick your excursion company carefully. If you can, leave a day in between each trip to explore Cancun. We won’t return to Cancun – we’ll head back to Cozumel!
