Flamingo Cancun not worth it at any price!!!
From the moment we arrived we had issues with hotel. We booked 2 rooms with ocean view and at check-in they gave us rooms with street view they call it lagoon view, the staff told us it would be an extra $25 per night, $350 more for ocean view. I had to open my luggage, pull out my confirmation and shows them, plus have a manager come to the desk to get the ocean view room. It was down hill from there, the room eventhough it was clean, is so dated everything in it needs updating, the door was broken, beds are probably no less than 10 years old along with the TV, bathroom fixtures all needed updating. The rooms were not even the worst part, the food was, most days almost evertthing was unedible, plus eventhough my reservation said premium drinks the bartenders would not serve us a call drink. I had to buy my own Bacardi rum and Ablolute Vodka and make our own drinks, but thats not even the worst part about this, if you spoke Spanish you were able to get any liquor from the bartenders you wanted and yes we all had on the same color wristbands and no they didn't pay anything extra fro their drinks and yes this probably was a racail thing, they don't like White Anglo-Saxon people. When I brought this to the attention of the manager he ignored it. The only redeemeing part of the hotel was it's location. The rest sucks.

Great Tropical Vacation
We were really impressed at our stay at the The Flamingo Hotel, a 3-star hotel in Cancun, Mexico. After a long flight, we arrived at the Flamingo in the afternoon. The front desk agents were very competent and extremely friendly. Within a short period of time, we were given keys to our hotel room. Our room was bright yellow with two comfortable double beds. The bathroom was stocked with bottles of water--very refreshing after our long dayās journey. The next morning we woke up and looked out the window at a picturesque view of the Caribbean Sea!! Breakfast was excellent, offering locally grown fresh fruits such as oranges and papaya as well as cereals and delicious hot entrees. Excellent staff were available to fulfill any special need . The beach restaurant's lunch and dinner dining room offered a gorgeous view of the Caribbean Sea with its clear blue water and white sand. The staff were friendly and expedient in bringing delicious fresh fish (with limes), tortillas, guacamole, and delicious drinks to our table. I would highly recommend staying at The Flamingo Hotel.

Not Happy
The hotel location was perfect. The hotel itself needs alot of help. The staff was rude and spoke no english. If you were american you got lied too you got watered down drinks and zero service. The food,if thats what you want to call it was almost a joke. You could'nt eat it.The menu was the same all the time, nothing changed. You were never really sure what you were eating. As advertised there was No entertainment at night or during the day for that matter. I'm sorry they did have BINGO one afternoon. The hotel lobby always smelled like a real dirty bathroom. No room service,no room amnities, soap, shampoo, coffee, iron and no help from anyone who worked there. (no understand english)

just OK!
We picked this hotel for it's value price. The hotel is what we were looking for, not a 5 star & not a dump. The food at the buffet in the hotel is cold & the same tasteless junk over & over everyday. I don't know how long it will take for my gut to recover! I would not stay here again!!

Great place to stay
The room was a beautiful white with touches of orange giving a warm beachie feeling. Furniture, bathroom (marble), bedding was emaculately clean and stylish. Our ocean view was wonderful with sliding glass doors and thick curtains if one wants to sleep in. The balcony was disappointingly small, not enough to fit a couple of chairs. We could also hear all of the noise coming through the front door as people walked, talked, and slammed doors in the hallway. Location was great, right across of the Flamingo Mall, Margaritaville, Outback steakhouse, and Bubba Gumps. TV worked perfectly with a few movies in English, but most in Spanish. The pool was smaller than it appeared in the pictures, but a nice sheltered retreat when the weather and waves turned ugly. The pool service includes towel service, a couple of small basketball rims, a volley ball net, and a pool bar. The jacuzzi was nice with an ocean view. There was even a small convenience store located on the first floor with various snacks, drinks, medications, and souvenirs, at somewhat higher prices. But if you wanted to cross the street there was a larger convience store as well. A free pool table in the bar area helped to pass the time on rainy days or nights (although crowded). Overall this hotel had beautiful rooms, great view, great location, helpful staff, and good amenities. Downsides were the noise from the hall and small balconies. Would stay here again, highly recommend the Flamingo Hotel.

Short walk from hotel
We walked about 1 kilometer south to a terrific restaurant we read about online called "La Destileria". They had good margarta's, a great tequila shop and selection, and delicious food for reasonable prices. It is a little bit of a walk from the Flamingo hotel, but you can also sight see in shops along the way.

Flamingo Cancun January 2012
This was my sixth trip to this hotel. Overall I love this hotel, but this time I had some issues that they did not resolve. I booked a Junior Ocean View Suite with Terrace with a King Size bed. Upon my arrival they substituted an upgrade on the exclusive 6th floor. The only difference with this room and a regular room was that it was located on a secure floor and it had free internet service. It also had 2 double beds. The Junior Suites are on the 1st floor and have a sliding door out to a terrace that opens to the beach. They stated that my Junior Suite would be available the next day. I went back for 3 days in a row and no Jr Suite was available. I gave up after that and just enjoyed my vacation. I will stay at the Flamingo in the future but will make sure that I get what I pay for. They will be sent emails from me starting 2 weeks out from my vacation reminding them of my reservation. I will also not sign anything until I see the upgraded room from now on and will immediately get my trave agent involved if I am not getting what I paid for. The Junior Suites are the exclusive rooms in this hotel.
